Missing Titanic sub: Aircraft detected 'underwater noises,' USCG says

- The US Coast Guard says a Canadian aircraft has detected underwater noises during search for a submersible that vanished while taking five people down to the wreck of the Titanic. FULL STORY: abc7chicago.co...
For the life of me, I can't understand how this craft was permitted to operate without any kind of emergency beacon!
The CEO owner fired a whistle blower an sued him for saying it wasn’t safe (he was an ex pilot)... he skirted any safety reports and tests.
He was reckless and his company should be sued for his actions
They didn't have any permissions this is why regulations are very important
It had no permits that is the issue.
Or why they even kept the business going knowing it had lots of mechanical issues.
So much money these people spend and so much money they spend to build this sub I am surprised that did not have any emergency beacon... I pray that they are located they must be so scared...
You couldn’t pay me to Get inside one of these things and go down this deep, let alone pay to get into one! Absolutely mind blown… hope these people are found alive and healthy 🙏

I saw a brief interview on utube, with marvelous Mr. Mears who was instrumental in locating the tragic Emiliano Sala's plane crash. And indeed got Emilio's body to the surface. He was realistic about the chances of rescuing all onboard this stricken Titan sub. Not good. Apparently UK rescue vessels have been restricted by the USA too,
This i don't understand..
Possibilities for an ROV to attach a winch if it’s intact at the wreck site? If it’s imploded they’ve been gone since Sunday
This story is pure claustrophobic horror. I hope they are found soon!
🤨 💭
Hmmmm, here’s my theory. They’ve been looking for them in wrong places. They might be miles away from Titanic ship sites. I don’t believe they were stupid enough to go inside. Whenever something dive in a bucket of water, if it’s not round it’ won’t sink perpendicular/straight to the bottom. It’d sink at an angle or zigzag til it gets to the bottom…
they will die , sorry but it's a harsh reality because it's technically impossible right now
@@alexkastano96 I fear that you may be correct, seemingly there are almost no rescue options at this depth.
@@garymorris1856not entirely true, if they find them with enough hours you can probably attached an extremely long tether and bring them up
@@bobbythomas6520how did they said the pressure is so immense from sea level what thing can connect it. I heard this was the only ship that can go all the way to the bottom where they are at. Hope there saved
Hopefully this tragedy will put an end to this form of reckless tourism and more lives won't be lost due to one man's hubris.
Hundreds of people have died on Everest Tourist Trips, yet the keep coming. At least they die in a beautiful place...not a steel coffin maybe 12,000 feet below the surface.
It won't. But it always takes someone to die for safety to be taken seriously.
All the money that went into this. The billionaires' day trip fees, and all the rescue teams. Imagine if this went to hungry kids and vaccines.
@@firstylasty9417 Well I guess the solution is to just let these people die. Whether he's rich or poor. Lets just not do any search and rescue. If someone gets lost, trapped etc lets just let them die. Fire starts burning down a rich guys house just let them die. Like how many hungry kids will you save instead. I'm sure you yourself have donated your own money and also time to help feed hungry kids and help produce vaccines.
@@chan13153 Yes, I *have* donated funds to hungry kids and vaccines! Sometimes, I even go home and make food for others, or buy people meals. Bc I think it's important to put your money where your mouth is. Thanks for asking. You?
And no - I did not say "Let them die," did I? Please put words in your own mouth, not mine. I especially feel for the 19yo.
What I did say is exactly what I wrote.
What's really sad is, if these guys were just fishermen. If they were just regular people trying to put food on their plates by putting food on yours, they would've gotten the typical 72 hour obligatory search before they were declared dead, and we more than likely would've heard nothing about it.
That's what is angering some of us. It's not just that they are rich, it's the difference in treatment for a joy ride. I have a feeling this news of "banging" is just to justify a longer search.
Not really sad, since they’re killing marine animals 🤷🏻♀
Idk. I mean most of the time when we see a story like this it has been about.....miners getting trapped in a mine of some sort. That is the most common version of this type of story and we KNOW the miners are not the rich and wealthy.
I don't know. How often do you hear about people getting lost in a sub potentially right next to the Titanic.

That company should be considered one of the biggest scams in recent history. $250k per passenger and all you can come up with is a ps4 joystick and parts from Home Depot? That’s ridiculous

Not funny but true

The real scam is the US allowing this company to operate without any regulations
White privilege ...and the wrong mentality that everything that's build by the Europeans it's perfect. Now they have to learn the hard way.

Some things are best left alone. Many people lost their lives on the ship, and that fact should be respected by leaving the wreck to its solitude.

I've told this worthy story before but I'll tell it again. My Grandfather knew the Titanic was going to sink. He kept telling everyone this but they just ignored him. In the end, they threw him out of the movie theatre.
Anyway, anyone who looked at this mini sub and saw that was driven by an X Box controller knew it wasn't safe.
I think the xbox controller is simply there to maneuver the submersible. As long as other instrumentation and controls exist to augment or overtake those controls, it's probably fine. The part that gets me is when the CEO explained that the controller is connected through bluetooth and any of the passengers can have a go at driving it. Like you really want to hand the controller off to someone inexperienced at moving the vehicle in and around the complex Titanic wreck, at that extreme depth?
That’s crazy dude, how did he know?
@lunarlightasmr4660 It's literally a 1/2 chance of corectly predicting the outcome😂😂
Not everyone got the joke about movie theater 😂
Got me there
Anybody else get anxiety on boat rides and when you look around you see an endless amount of water , they’re brave for even going down there , God be with them.
Even if they located it immediately, they wouldn't be able to go down to get them. It is an absolute nightmare and I can't even imagine how those people feel... In these situations one could pray for a quick death than for a slow torture like people had in the Kursk submarine. And that was the depth that something could've been done, which we can't say for this one.
The US Navy has a platform device they use to retrieve crashed planes. It can retrieve the sub if it isn't tangled in the wreck. Problem is they won't be able to get it there in time...
There's a naval vessel with heavy lift deep crane on-site.
Additionally they can attach bags and inflate them fairly easily if they can reach them.
This is a very small vessel.
It takes a couple of hours down and a similar amount of time up, so in theory there is still time to tow them to safety.
@hearmenow8197 but how is the question moron. There is barley any vessels that can go that deep and jyou can't send divers

When you do stupid things like getting into a coffin and submerge under 2.5 miles of water just to view a ship, then expect you are not coming back up alive.
Well, at least Hamish Harding broke his own record of staying under water for 4.25 hours in 2021
Yes I totally agree with you
I have no pity for stupidity
It's their problem
I don’t know what else to say I feel sad and they should never go visit a thing that deep under water and I heard the owner did tell something wrong about God just because he was too proud of titanic so you can’t go visit a thing like that smh
Sad fact
God bless their families
Anything having to do with the Titanic is usually catastrophic, I live here in Huntsville, al. where the defense company S.C.I. is located. In July of 1984 there were 15 people who were on a boat named S.C.I.tanic that was owned by the company. While in the river a sudden storm came up and capsized the boat and everyone was killed. So here's a warning, never have anything to do with anything about the Titanic. Nothing good will come from it.
It simply amazes me they had no emergency beacon.
You don't seem to be listening to the video and the logistics of that. What communications they had were basically an emergency beacon and they went out. There's no other way to make contact in the ocean aside from getting them with sonar but that's a blind identification. Sonar doesn't tell you what you're 'seeing.'
@@nickolasstrudwick7232then you have to go investigate which waste valuable time if it’s wrong.
2:08 for your reference
@@whatfreedom7 That's exactly the point and exactly why the situation is the way it is now. Even if they knew it was them they don't have a craft to reach them anyway.
Signals don't work 2-3m underwater. Maybe they should do some semaphore out the window, send some smoke signals, or send Lassie to go get help.
The noises will be from something else. The thing clearly imploded and it's their own fault for ignoring all the safety concerns.
Very true.
Some smarter guy (a British millionaire) pulled out of a trip on this sub at the last moment, because he realised it wasn't near safe enough. Which proves that all the telltale signs were already out there for the potential passengers to find out and worry about.

The agony would be purely psychological. When they run out of oxygen they will become intoxicated by CO2. Then they pass out. So you basically die in your sleep.
It's just that waiting that would be agonizing but hey, I guess you get to get a little high before you pass out at least.
@@mikedeleon5617 Yes CO does that. Point is the combination of CO2 toxicity and and oxygen deprivation will knock them out pretty quick. They'd might gasp for air a bit but be too loopy to tell really.

Not only an emergency beacon, but Dry suit diving gear, floating balloons on the outside that can be inflated from inside to help the sub come up if there is an emergency, life jackets, any procedures incase of problems.
Hardly any vessels (military subs included) can go down to 12,000 feet under the sea. The vesicle was also built without any emergency beacons.
Pretty much nothing is designed to explore that depth, except for purpose built _unmanned_ submersibles and extremely dense, small, reinforced cylinders that sparsely even classify as a submarine. The crush depth for even the toughest US military subs is around 2000 feet, let alone 12000. Why anyone thought that sending PEOPLE down to that depth in a sketchy experimental vehicle was an even remotely good idea is beyond me.

Why wasnt it attached to the boat somehow so they could pull it back up if needed
13000 feet under I doubt they have anything long enough
Why would you make it impossible to open from the inside even if it managed it surface?? Just why??
This confused me too. But I think I've heard one reporter explain the submersible actually has to be bolted shut before it launches. I assume a hatch of some sort could compromise absolute water-tightness and pressurization. At that depth, maybe no reliable tech exists yet for easy access/exit?
Exit to where? You would die.
Too much pressure. Everything needs to be bolted tightly down. Sealed container.
Dosent matter no human can open that door and live at that depth
Does anyone else find the excitement and seemingly lack of empathy in the ABC announcers voice disturbing. There is a distinct contrast in the concern you hear in the voice of the people interviewed.
It’s like it says in the song Dirty Laundry, by The Eagles 🤷🏻♀

Let the horrible titanic accident be left alone so many people died on the titanic leave the dead people alone let them rest in peace this is the exact reason why the titanic should be left alone it is to far down so it’s no longer safe for people and the titanic is so rusty and old and nasty you not gonna see it very good because of all the rust stop looking for the titanic you just get your karma for not leaving the dead people rest rip to the people on the titanic
And rest in peace to the people on the expedition😢
Let's be real, this is a recovery mission.
You know what's scary and depressing to think about?
As we are talking about it and going on with our lives they are trapped in there in total darkness's...
Is there actual footage of this EXACT crew of extreme wealth being bolted in the this submersible???? I see footage of prior footage of the people climbing in and being bolted in and being dropped in the water... Is there footage of this exact crew being boarded and bolted in and dumped in the water? Please advise...
I am praying that you guys can find and save those men trapped in that sub!
Banging is the sound of the sub imploding, maybe the people inside decided a quick death and depressurized it
