Thanks for the info, what do you think of the light? I tried to be as fair as possible because it's a very low price so wanted to say it's useful but I would change a few things. 🙂
@@TrailTrek So, whilst I do go hiking etc, I actually had picked this up for £15 from “The Range” as a chance buy for a different reason. I have just 1 week ago purchased a different headlight from Amazon that has the “proximity(wave hand in front to turn on or off)” function and that’s an ok headlight. I had actually watched review videos on this “nebo” light and some others, so when I saw it, I actually had another “use/function” in mind for it. As part of my walking/camping gear, I have a “Dji mini 2 drone” so as to make videos of what my brother and I do, and I had the intention of mounting this “using Velcro” on the bottom of the drone as a spotlight for it, weight and size lends itself to the possibility, with the obvious back up of, “if it’s not suitable for whatever reason?(drone use)” I have a sweet little diverse mounting headlight. As yet I haven’t had the time to try it on the drone, but I have tried it as a headlight, and all I can say is that if this does work well for drone mounting?, I will definitely go and buy another to have attached to the molle system on my rucksack strap, with the strap in top pocket. Sorry for long winded message, but I think the context of my decision is relevant, drones are expensive especially when you add new iPads etc to fly with, so obviously I wouldn’t mount anything that was “tat” or “inferior” quality, it also shows that I consider the “light throw” and “power” to be good enough to mount it to something costing considerably more as a “decent addition”…. The light itself(build quality), personally I think is “brilliant for price”. The mounting possibilities it offers “are brilliant for the price”. The actual “light” it provides, can you see a trend here?, personally I think is???, you guessed it, “brilliant for the price”. Overall?, yep, it’s “brilliant for the price”…I would recommend this “nebo” headlight to anyone, and most likely in person will.😁👍🏻
I sure with you. For this price it's brilliant. What sort of shots are you getting on the mini 2 with this attached? The low weight of this is perfect for done lighting you picked a great pairing there.
Hi, ive just bought the light and im experiencing the same problem many guys here are. It turns off after 10 seconds regardless the setting mode it is on. Ive tried long presses on each setting without any joy. Going to take it back to the store tomorrow. I would highly recommend you try the torch in a store for this common problem and avoid ordering this product online cause its a hit and miss from what ive read on comments. I will stick with Led Lenser torches…. Never fail.
Thanks for this, I've had a number of people report this. I have also posted a community update to warn people, even on that post no one was able to offer a simple fix for it. So it looks like a factory defect they are not picking up on, maybe their QC is only testing it turns, on when they need to also see if it runs for a few minutes as well.
Usually any turn off or step down is to protect from heat but this is a sensible low heat output light so that's a bit of a puzzle. I've gone over the manual again: www.nebotools.com/product_images/7786714%20Instruction%20Manual_LR.pdf and I cant see any feature where it should even turn off, all i can guess is that the light might have under-volt protection which is turning it off even if its fully charged in which case they need to send you a new light mate. Very sorry to hear you are having trouble with this cool light.
Man that flickering would do my head in. I bought myself a Energizer LED Vision Ultra Rechargeable Headlight - S14672 seems nice for a rechargeable head one.
Yeah I found it annoying. That energizer looks good. I like the way it has like a textured lens on one side and a more standard tir on the other. It makes sense to me. Good find.
I’ve just ordered one of the energizers, I used to energizers before the 18650 right angle headlamps became useful, I tried some of the maplin branded ones before that but they I didn’t like them .
I used to get a few Maplin items years back when my mate worked in the store now they closed the store which is a shame. In think they are all online only now.
@@TrailTrek maplin used to do a single AAA flashlight with a nice tint about 10 years, the only problem was that the tail button used to split. I bought my first modern flashlight from maplin nearly 11 years ago it’s a led lenser p7. After that I was into four sevens.
Bought mine today, no flickering at all. Every mode stays on for 8 seconds. I'm I doing something wrong? Can't get the light to stay on in any setting.
Hi I'm glad the beam is looking good. But I've not come across this issue yet with mine, I was going to say it might be a stepdown error of some sort but if it's on all modes it can't be that. It has to be some sort of broken unit maybe?
No I have been told from a few people they also see the pwm on this light. They might have released a version where they use a constant current now which would fix the issue.
yeah im slowly spending less time carrying both the micro and type-c when im out soon il just need to carry the type-a to type-c. Then eventually when manufacturers get it all sorted il just need a type-c to type-c and nothing else.
I got one today . I'm using it as a backup to my olight. It's so light it makes a good backup but I wouldn't use it as a primary. Cool little light though. Mine doesn't flicker at all.
Thanks, I had fun testing this one. I love the size and how it looks and it was a good one for a tool box or things like that. If you have any questions about the light I'm happy to help.
It would be good for clipping to a back pack strap. Some older people can’t wear anything tight around there head for medical reasons. I find pwm bothers me more on headlamps than on handheld torches . Not bad for the price but I bagged a sofirn sp40 for £23 on a deal at Amazon.
I wasn't aware about the tight strap issue so thanks for making that point. Yeah I'm pretty sensitive to flickering, I don't know if I could endure this for multi days. You got a very good deal there I was using my sp40 this past week and it's still one of my favourite headlamps. The price is incredible for hire good it is.
Ah thanks for the info I honestly didn't know that. I think these are fine for relatives, I'm just picky with certain things, but for the price they did an ok job.
Bought one today. Comes in different packaging - maybe updated version? No flickering whatsoever. I like smooth soft light spread and high adjustability. I would like longer battery life, but it is very small so can't expect miracles. Gets really hot in turbo mode, hence only 30s of operation. Will replace my cheap Chinese one simply because of wide light spread.
Im guessing it may be an updated version if there is no visible PWM thats a great thing. and it does have a wide and very useable light thanks so much for tasking the time to share your findings here its a massive help to the viewers.
lol, up and down like a fiddlers elbow! I suppose the only likeable thing about it is the tint. it's got to much going against it. I had a cheap light once with bad pwm but that nebo seems worse to a point of distraction. anyway great review as always, have a good one👍
Thank you mate, yeah it's a bit of a strange one. I know they did this to a budget but if they tweaked this it works be so much better. Engine the weekend mate 😁👍
im getting quite a few comments to say that. The light goes on and turns its self off, its not only annoying its down right dangerous for the light to do that. I've been very lucky mine still works fine so far although I'm not using it every single night do to other lights I use and rotate. What does customer care say? dam sorry to hear of the problem you are having its good that you are sharing it here so potential buyers get to see this info.
I got a 15$ Nebo from Ace hardware and it is one of the best store bought lights out there. 3 AAA's and 500 lumens is pretty nice, and it hold onto the brightness better than my coast, my 3C maglight, my Quantum (Harbor Freight), and Rayovac lights that cost the same.
They appear to have removed the PWM on models now, a few people have said their are fine but I've also heard from users who got it when I did and see the PWM. they improved that and made this a better light for the nice price. How do you rate the light after use? the price is still staying at a sensible level.
@@TrailTrek Yeah, I read the comments after I wrote this. You must be so tired of repeating the same thing, sorry mate. I like it, but as other's have stated the clip is SO uncomfortable. I've had to organise the strap so there's 2 bands between my forehead and the clip and it still isn't incredibly comfortable. Like you, I don't really like having to cycle through the other modes just to turn it off. I think I'm going to keep in my kit to maybe clip to my back or backpack if I need to be visible from behind, but I'm already on the lookout for something else as a main headlamp. I like how small it is though, I'm hoping to find something better in the same sort of size.
@@shadearistotle1136 ah that's ok the one thing I love is reports from users of the lights so we can all share info. For the price the mycro is fine. If you like a small light but wouldn't mind slightly larger if say look at the Wuben H1, or the Nitecore NU33. If you want to see what the h1 etc look like right next to the Nebo I have a video up tomorrow where I walk and talk and show all of those lights up close and say what I think of them. I also have the full review up for the nu33, it's really small and light but blows the mycro away for features and power, although it's 15 bucks extra I think it's worth it.
Ok finaly worked out how to get the lamp to stay on for more than 10 seconds, 1/ Press and hold the power button till the two red lights come on and keep holding the power button in 2/ Plug in the usb charge lead into a power source and then into the torch as if you were going to charge it then let go of the power button and remove the charge lead. hey presto now the light will stay on until the battery is depleated.
I just bought one of these yesterday, I didn't plan on it, I just saw it and bought it. I like it, mine doesn't have such a flicker problem on low. I was looking around to see if the rechargeable battery could be replaced once it goes bad, anybody here know? I assume removing the 4 allen screws might reveal the battery. I'm going to put "dry lube" on the tilt mech, might slow wear down.
23:30 Imagine comparing an emergency headlamp to a full size headlamp that weighs twice as much, is twice as big, and costs twice as much. LOL this guy is trolling. And the reason the NEBO flickers is to save battery power. All strobe lights are naturally more efficient. It allows them to create a smaller, lighter device for people wanting an emergency light for their bug out bag. Nobody is going to be carrying around a 5 pound Mag-Lite in their camping bag. Be realistic.
Thanks for your thoughts on this light. I keep getting a few messages saying buyers are getting faults with them so bear that in mind if you are considering this one. Mine is still working fine though so its a small percentage by the looks.
I'll see if I can replicate this I never noticed on mine on hiking and stuff. Maybe mine isn't tight enough or something, I did buy this with my own money and I don't work for Nebo.
