Thank goodness for a viable warranty. Might want to use what you already have for the first match till you learn the rules and course of fire. Looking forward to your next video.
Good point, however the course of fire is different every match, targets are different, obstacles are different you don't know the course of fire until just before the match. Rules, can be studied and prepped for.
I know a lot of PRS shooters run 6 BR, 6 BRA, 6 GT, 6 Dasher. There are surveys Precision Rifle Blog perform asking the top shooters in the US and for cartridges it was overwhelming 6 Dasher and 6mm was the largest response. I think 6 GT is on the rise and would be the cartridge I would use in PRS.
That guy I was watching, shooting the 6BRA, had virtually no recoil. 6GT is one I am considering, but the only chambering I am considering that would put me in the open class...6CM and 6.5CM let me stay in production. Maybe Aero will start chambering in 6GT...that'd be great.
Maybe one day! Driving through mountains is interesting as the view is constantly changing and one really gets to practice their "line" outside, inside, outside.
The only rofle I have to would work for a couple test runs would be my AR10 in .308. My bolt gun has an internal mag, so it would work well for the game and my 6.5 PRC has one 5 round mag.
@@stefanveltri7187 no I do not. I almost bought a Remington 700 in .223 back in the day, to have a smaller caliber twin to my .308 but never followed through.
6mm ARC is something I'd suggest you look at. But check out the $1,000 discount off 26" 6.5CM that I saw yesterday online and we were discussing on WTW live chat. Bergarra Target rifle I believe. Was like $699 or $799, cant recall but cheap for 26" which will het you darn near PRC velocity.
That is something to consider...other than the fact I have already ordered the Solus action to build myself a rifle. Bergara and Tikka were mentioned by the guys at the match who I was picking their brains about what rifle to play the game with.
I asked the guys there about running the 6.5PRC...not good for this game, too much recoil and you really need to see your hits and misses to adjust on the fly. Besides that, I can only get 5 round mags for that rifle..need 10 round minimum.
This range has targets from 300 to 860ish, there is another range further north that has targets to 1,000 I've heard. 6CM is one fo the 3 I am leaning towards.
Big question is what will the budget allow! Lots of choices in chassis, caliber , optic etc. One extreme to the other in caliber - 22ARC 22 Creedmoor 22 Nosler or 6.8 Western 277 Fury etc. Research time 😆. Big decision. Good luck. 🙏👍🎯
Thanks Bill, after chatting several times with Bending Ballistics I am down to 3...really only 2 if I don't want to play in the Open Class...6GT, 6CM or 6.5CM. 6GT would put me in the open class as Aero doesn't chamber in 6GT...yet.
@Halfmilesniper Which is the best choice for accessing reloading supplies- projectiles , brass , powder etc. ? Or if going out of country ammo that won't cost an arm or leg & easier to find?
@Halfmilesniper So in the future you may be able to send a projectile 3,500 feet down range instead of 2,600 feet before the horrendous recoil causes the table to shake & spasm violently 😂. 🎯💥
@@billdye3530 hmmmm...the out of country ammo question is a toughie. I think many bring ammo with them, I know I did when I competed in Canada, I just had to make sure my pistols were legal for Canadaland...and my magazines. I had to leave anything home that had a 4 inch barrel or shorter because legal minimum then was 105mm. Mags had t be 10 rounds.
@Halfmilesniper Wasn't sure on as legality has changed what is & isn't allowed. Can't run down to Uncle Joe's Bar & Hunting Emporium in middle of nowhere & ask if they have 55gr 6mm GT or Dasher 😂. You get that puzzled look back & are asked Where U From. But got some 35 Whelen 😂.
@@Halfmilesniper The GT feeds a lot better then the Dasher for sure. I've had good luck handloading the Berger 109 grain with N160 at 2975 fps in the 6mm Creedmoore.Brass is plentyful, and you can always neck down 6.5 creed brass is needed...
Before you spend big $ on something new take what ya have and just try it. If it truly something you think you're going to enjoy then spend the retirement $ and get the best you can... Hell if you get lucky you might find people like Erik that will let you shoot there rifles once or twice so you can decide what you want to buy or custom build.
Great ideas Jerk...I was going to try the 6BRA at this match but couldn't hang around to the end to try it...to many things to do. After shooting Erik's Solus in 6.5CM I was pretty set on building myself a rifle...it'll be a home/garage custom build. I figure I have built revolvers and built a 1911, starting from a stripped frame...a rfile should be easier, lol. And, just like PPC....if I decide I really like the game, then I can have a gun built by a pro.
@Halfmilesniper it's harder to stay on target with the PRC over my 6 GT but it fights the wind and for the long shots. I'm new to the PRS game so I built my own range to practice on. I'm in Montana
@@DougJohnson-g5f Nice...I was shooting long today...1400+, stout roiling winds. Got lucky on a hit. 1296 was easy peasy but 1400 was tough in the wind. I'll mostly like build 6 Creed to stay out of the open class if I shoot any PRS.
I have a "late" '04 6.0. It has been a pretty good engine, can'y complain about any head gasket issues thankfully. I did blow an EGR cooler about 100K ago, replaced with the BulletProof Diesel EGR cooler.
I have been watching a lot of PRS Match videos, getting more exposure to some of the whack shooting positions. I was surprised by the amount of movement involved and how most everyone was timing out without finishing the stage. Those positional changes are sure some time hogs.

My vote would be the 6GT. Easier to load from a magazine than a dasher and still no recoil like a dasher.
6GT is one of the 3 I have it boiled down to. Watching those 6mm guns running with nearly zero recoil was amazing.

6 GT
6GT is one of the 3 chamberings I am looking at, I like the barrel life and less powder needed to get good speeds.
If it was a sub 500 setup, id say a 6 arc system but out to 850 a 6 creed would do well

6 mm for sure. The Dasher is the easy pill. The 6mm creedmoore has a better variety of loaded ammo and brass. Large or small primer pockets.
