The nice part about the .416 Rigby is that it can make just enough velocity that you can tune up a load for damn near anything. You've got the BC for a slick heavy solid that zips through everything, and you've got the capability for velocity that really makes the lighter softpoints "pop"... as evident here. That 350gr was probably pushing upwards of 2600fps, and they make 300gr that would do 2700, maybe 2800 for the adventurous loader. And yet, it's still small enough that you could down-load for smaller game, too. Just don't mix loads up, a whitetail trip would see you come back with a dozen pounds of pre-processed (dirty) venison burger. God, a fast 300gr would probably turn a heart shot into a front and back half...
Sooo... not quite a Grizzly bear story, but... back in the 1960's my dad was in the military, and was sent up to the D.E.W. line in Alaska (well, I *think* this was in Alaska - he was also stationed further north, in Canada I think, at some point). So the local town had a trash dump, and it had a seagull problem. Not only were the birds a problem right at the dump, but they were badly messing up the local ecosystem and destroying the eggs and nests of a couple of endangered bird species. So, the town had a gentleman's agreement with the base, that the guys stationed up there would do their target practice at the dump. With their service rifles - which I believe was still 30-06 chambered M1 Garands (M16s in 5.56 would come later). Well, it turns out that the shock cavitation channel made by a 30-06 round is larger than the body of a Seagull, so... BOOM! And the bird would disappear, all that's left is a bunch of feathers in the wind. As for the actual bears up there (polar bears in this case) - he's told the story of being tracked by two of them, one off in the distance on his right, and one off on the left, all the way back to base. So, um, yeah - carrying something big & powerful is pretty much essential up there, lest ye become somebear's lunch.

@@Ian-mj4pt That one was just a little bit too long in the tooth.
The 416 rigby never ceases to amaze me, before there was nothing that can stop it, now you have ammo that dumps 100% of that energy into the target. Devastating stuff.
"I've got a barrel full of chunky bear salsa that Rigby made for me".
That's so insane, it should be a Slayer song 🤘😎
10:18 can we call this a " Kentucky Lobotomy" ?
"...For abusive working conditions!"
My sides! What a briliant intro! 😂
The Energytransfer of the Rigby was ridiculous 😂😂😂
I gotta say that 416 Rigby never ceases to amaze me
2 things to love about this video.. 1- that intro. Absolutely hilarious! "I've found a surgeon that's gonna fix that"...Classic! 2- the 416 Rigby. I get excited every time you break that thing out and you have a "soft" target. That thing is the absolute king of energy transfer. It's just sick! It absolutely obliterated that skull. I can't help but laugh when you vaporize things with it. The more I see it, the more I think I NEED ONE!!
I want to see Ballistic dummy Labs make an elephant head for the next video
Love your videos Scott, keep em coming!
"Some" energy transfer...
.416 Rigby proceeds to evaporate a Grizzly skull...
It was so metal, Slayer should make a song about it 😎🤘
I love that 416 Rigby, always a treat ;-)
Was expecting to see the classic side-by-side Elephant rifles but a great video non the less. Hmm... what would happen is one set an line of paint cans and some blank canvas and then shot through the cans with a 4 Bore, would that be "modern art, Kentucky style"?
You are mental...loved the show...here very few people have firearms...however thanks to friends in Texas and Alabama i have managed fire a few different guns...great fun...thanks again for the show...🏴...bye the way being called mental in Scotland is a compliment and one you deserve...cheers
cheers from austria, love your style scott!
I just thought of something.
Ballistic gel targets in the form of rhinos, hippos, and elephants. The four bore was originally used for big and dangerous game, so I want to see what a modern four bore with more power behind it would do.
4:31
me smelling my tools when get soaked in diesel
6:08 bear: it’s a good day to be not dead! Scoot: pow you are dead!
6:10 that bear-led through
.416 rigby has been my favorite of the channel since the bowling ball episode , it delivers some serious carnage 😁
Now we need a big Trex ballistic dummy VS punt gun
Was thinking about it too. Really think scott is trying to get a t rex head someday
Life size t rex ballistic skull would probably weight like half a ton but I too am somewhat curious ....
8:12 cartoon characters when they eat a bomb
.416 rigby still the undefeated champ for most deceivingly powerful rifle. I'm always shocked at the massive damage that thing does to everything it touches
He looks like he is smiling 8:06
He Amit smiling no more💀
When you put your toothbrush too far back in your mouth.
You always hear people talking about defending yourself from *a* bear.
@10:38 four bore:
when you need to defend yourself against *two* bears.
Edit: Once again I get all excited about my clever comment on this channel and a couple seconds later Scott is saying the same thing in the video
Guns in monster movies: Barely does anything, like firing paintballs.
Guns in real life: 2:33
The 4 bore for self defense is definitely optimal 😂
But RIP ur Wallet 🫠

Poor Bears !!! Loved the 700 bmg ! Would love to see a Bigfoot demo ! Have a great Easter weekend , Scott !
4 bore go crazy
5:11 That sound when the head hit the ground
2:56 definitely not the gun to use if you want a trophy head.
Who shoots game in the head?
Facts!
Yeah lol
Well, it's one way....to knock that chip off yer shoulder🤣
Into the next county😅

Thousands of years of evolution. Immense muscles. Tremendous speed. Massive claws. Powerful jaws full of sharp crushing teeth. Enormous endurance and thick hide and bones. A brutal, monstrous predator -
2:37 - Haha, smart monkey go boom. Say hello to the real apex fucking predator, baby!
This is the first ballistics dummy video I've ever watched all the way through from beginning to end without skipping. Gotta say, good stuff - good stuff.
