Hey Joelster! Awesome reviews. Did you notice any big difference between the xyscreen pet ALR, the Akia CLR, and the Aeon CLR screens? It seems they all have similar tech, but their light rejection percentage seems to be a bit difference between the different screens. It could all just be marketing and all screens come from the same manufacturer. I just was wondering what your impressions between the screens were since you’ve had experience with all of them. Thanks!

My pleasure, to be honest they seem to use the same material, I don't see any difference on picture performance, what I like about this screen is that is a lot lighter so it is easier to handle and to install it.
Do you recommend installing the screen first before the projector placement? Or set your projector location first before the screen?

How does the vava handle Netflix content? I heard some of these lasers don't do 23.976 fps well or whatever the hertz are for it.
Thanks, well it works great for me, I don't see any issues while using netflix or other streaming services.

I watch mostly at night with no lights on. Would you recommend getting a ALR screen or would i do just fine with the Cine White from Elite Screens?

In a dark room you should be fine with a cinewhite but a cinegreay is much better, colors and black levels are improved and same with contrast.

Honestly all ALR or CLR screens look great with an UST laser projector but I really liked this Akia because is easy to assemble and lightweight, same goes for the Elite AEON CLR.
Hi joelstor I just purchased a vava for my home theater In my basement where I can control lighting and it will be mostly if not completely dark all the time... is a cinewhite or cinegrey screen from elite or silver ticket good just the basic non Alr or clr kind
Hi, yes absolutely both materials are great, Elite screens has many different models that fit your budget, I personally prefer Cinegreay.

I want to use 100 or 110 inch screen for my set up, Since you have reviewed both screens (Akia CLR- 3 and Elite Aeon CLR) which one did you like the most?
Hello, I personally prefer this Akia screen for the VAVA projector, it is designed for UST laser projectors so you can get the best picture in any lighting condition.

hey bud if you had the choice would you take the AK-NB123H-CLR4 or the XY screen 120" ALR UST PET Crystal Screen. Really on the fence with these two, but don't know what would do the better job.
I have worked with both brands and I would go for the Akia, they both have similar picture quality performance but Akia is located here in the states, if for any reason something goes wrong or if you get a damaged screen it is much easier to replace it here than return it to China.

does this screen prevent the shadowing "light" effect on the sides when using the vava?
I have an ambient light around the screen for that, you can still see some light bleed in a dark room.
I use a 55" TV to 170 cm away, it's too close or it's a good distance for playing videogames?
That's a good distance, as long as your eyes are comfortable and you are able to see everything clear you should be fine.
a lot of marketing going on to promote the Vava, but on Amazon there are many negative reviews of the Vava including poor customer service. Where is the response to all these complaints??
Do you need a ALR screen with the VAVA if your room is completely dark?
No, cine white or cinegrey work fine too.
Why would the darker side go down and lighter side up...isnt the dark side the alr component ..and the white is the reflective surface for the laser??
The white rejects the light coming from the ceiling, the dark side absorbs the light coming from the bottom (laser projector). If you install it wrong the picture looks dark, washed colors.
CLR seems to be more superior than ALR

I Have LG HU80KA Projector and I have the ELITE SCREEN CINE GREY 1.0 gain but when I project it on the screen the picture is not that bright the contrast sharpness is good but it’s not that bright, and my room is completely dark, but when I project it on my white ceiling it’s really bright, so I’m confused what screen should I get and what gain please HELP!!!???
So white surface makes a bright picture but colors get washed and have poor black levels, also you loose picture quality with a little bit of ambient light.

I love my VAVA projector, they have fixed many issues and bugs it had before with updates and it runs great, the 3D update wasn't that good but there is a new update that fixed it, I just haven't had the time to check it out, hey do you want an ALR screen for your projector.? Let me know I have an extra one.

Both do an excellent job, I guess the biggest difference is that if something goes wrong with the screen, Akia has you covered since they are based in the states and can easily help you with parts or replacement.
keep in mind the XY has a higher end frame. The sides are long, one piece parts hence the larger package. The also exhibit at Infocomm and have a booth there indicating they’re just much larger in terms of customer base.

Blinds placement were deceiving. Should have kept the blinds facing towards the screen to show screens true efficiency.
You don't want to watch a movie on a projector on plain daylight, no matter what type of screen you have, they absorb indirect ambient light, not daylight.
These screens are just unreasonably too expensive!
