Nice review, if you may allow me to share my experience with my 2019 Jetta SEL ..
    - A lot of people think that the 1.4 engine is not enough, I have the car so far 2 months and it is more than enough, it has 147 Hp and 184 lbs of torque with turbo, who ever says that the engine is under power then they should try corolla, Hyundai, and Honda they will find that the Jetta is the best.
    - four people in the car total weight approximately 620lbs with full tank of fuel, still the engine is way more than enough.
    - at the speed of 65 miles the engine RPM is less than 1900 RPM, and still it has too much power to accelerate.
    - I drove my car with the cruise control set at 65 mph for a distance of 360 miles non stop, when I stopped at the gas station, I filled 7.763 gallons only I am using regular unleaded 87, I filled it all way, so I got 46.37 MPG, now that’s great.
    - the noise level is low, and it feels solid on the highway.
    - adaptive cruise control is very very smooth, I have a 2018 corolla I hate the adaptive cruise control on it.
    - lane departure is more effective than the corolla, and the Jetta has a lane departure with blind spot.
    - rear traffic alerts is not just an alert, it will apply brakes if you don’t, not only that even front alert with brakes with take care of you.
Now Volkswagen has added a cold weather package for an extra $450 on the SE, R line, SEL, and SEL premium, you will get a remote start, heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, and heated nozzle for windshield washer.
Things that I wish Volkswagen will add are :
    - a 12V and charging port in the back seat.
    - a 2nd USB data port in the middle console, so we can connect the iPod and at the same time use the navigation from the apple car play.
    - Call End button on the steering wheel.
Overall it’s a great car, with so many features.
Thank you for your video and the nice review, and thank you Volkswagen for making a great car.

It still has: remote unlock, power windows/locks, steering wheel controls, Auto headlights, Apple/Android, heated mirrors, back up camera with rear sensing of moving cars, forward collision braking, proximity sensors, trunk CarGo mat, mud mats and carpeted mats, option of manual transmission, simple HVAC controls that won't end in motor failures years from now that you have to take the dash apart to fix, alloy wheels. All that for $16,xxx in manual transmission form (MSRP is around $21). What's not to like?... The electronic parking brake....errr.

Your comment regarding the 2 tone leatherette is misleading because as you can see the bolster part of the seat for the back and thigh area is covered in tan color, your jeans will still be leaving the blue dye on them over time just like the Acura you mentioned. The 2 tone does not protect the seat from your jeans it is only for aesthetics to make it look more sporty.

I had a 2021 Corolla that bored me so bad I was crying every night. Dumped it at a loss to get into a slightly used 2019 Jetta SEL and my life was transformed. SEL handling, suspension, ride quality DESTROYED the Corolla to an obscene level. And only cost $1500 more for same year model. My one complaint with Jetta was the torque grinding noise, but it is not a constant noise. You hear it a few seconds when you accelerate between 27 and 32 mph and then it is gone. Not sure if anything is being damaged. But if so, the 2019 Jetta has a six year warranty.

Why I prefer my 2017 Jetta SEL over the 2019 (based on reviewer comments / reports):
    • more engine choices for 2017, mine has the 1.8 L engine
    • Independent rear suspension with 2017
    vs torsion beam
    • True exhaust outlets for 2017 vs Fake exhaust outlets with 2019
    • Adjustable center arm rest vs fixed
    for 2019
    • Height adjustment for front passenger seat
    missing for 2019
    • Adjustable rear headrests gone with 2019
    • Rear deck more glare resistant; glare reports for 2019
    • Damped glove box with inner upper shelf gone for 2019
    • Engine shutoff when stopping with 2019, air turns off etc.(does have an off switch)
    • Solid moon roof slide cover
vs flimsy cloth material with 2019
    * A Pillar material covered vs solid plastic with 2019
    • more touch screen functions / interface with 2019 which resulted in some unwanted connections when
    bumped
    * 2019 Seating is very benchlike, some reports it was less comfy
    * And, trunk lid fully opens with 2017 vs needing further lifting with 2019
In all fairness I have not driven the 2019 so these comments if they are all accurate may not be important for some new buyers. More soft touch surfaces on 2019 front doors, and MQB platform may provide a better and more quiet ride experience, etc.

Thanks Kev Hed. glad you enjoyed the review. I just uploaded the 2019 Jetta S in depth review today. So I do agree with you about VW cutting some corners, but still a really nice vehicle for the money. My main concern was VW not giving the rear passengers any air vents. It was odd to see the cutout for air vents, but nothing there and that was even on the SEL Premium version Jetta.

SEL is where it's at, SEL Premium pushes the price too high, not giving much in return. SEL package is the one that infuses a lot of Audi into the interior, the exterior already gives off enough Audi vibes. I've been babying a 2014 Jetta S from day one, now 25k miles on it. The 6yr/72k warranty, free 3yr maintenance, the gas mileage, the horsepower (2014 S has the lame 2.0 engine from 1993) even the torque, everything is 50% to 100% better on the new one! The reason why a new VW can be a great deal: The Diesel scandal. VW's action to undo the damage done to the brand favor the consumers. A bumper to bumper warranty outlasting the loan for the car? Sign me up! Except, I have 14 payments left on mine and at 25k miles, it makes sense for me to be payment free for a while until I hit 50k miles and then trade it in for a 2021 revision of this model right here, you know it will sit on MQB! Right now, in my area, the SEL's go for 5k below sticker. I would grab one for no more than 22k. If you are spending more, you are better of grabbing a Golf or a Passat, plenty of heavily discounted 2018's everywhere. Mark my words, the Jetta SEL is a great deal for under $22k. How do I know? VW can't sell it in Europe, it would wreak havoc on Passat, Polo and Golf Sales, at this price it would hurt even the cheaper sub VW brands like Skoda and Seat.
