This is probably the number selling car in Puerto Rico where I live. No joke. It’s everywhere. As soon as they came out. Since the first one to this Mazda built one. It’s funny because people here are die hard Toyota fans. Mazda not so much. Toyota has been the number one selling brand here a couple of years now.
It's also the only Toyota that has Android Auto as Toyota still has put it in the Corolla or Camry (added for the 2020 model). I hate that Toyota has refused to support Android Auto until 2019 and unlike Mazda is not offering an update to 2014-2018 models
i just came from asia to Canada and when asked Mazda why don't you sell mazda 2 in Canda, they told me Canadian market primarily tend to purchase SUV and bigger cars!
Automatic climate control, touchscreen monitor, Push-Button Start.... But no basic drivers side folding arm-rest. Yes _THAT_ is where they decided to do some of that cost-cutting to make this car more affordable. Even the Chevy Sonic comes with a folding arm-rest. It's not much, but you do get one.
Why does anyone listen to someone who drives major horsepower cars like his Tesla and Cayman what do you think he is going to say about the power on this Yaris? It’s a City car, and a very cheap commuter car.
I picked up a color brochure from Toyota and noted that armrest and navigation are available as accessories. I remember spending an extra $250.00 for my mini cooper. Similar horsepower, btw.
In 2019 I test drove a brand new 2019 Toyota Yaris at the dealership. I was very unimpressed. I would stomp the gas down at a red light after it turned green and the engine would just roar, but when you watched the speedometer it was barely moving and I could smell something burning. A brand new car is not supposed to have a burning smell coming from it. I think they are junk. I would get a Corolla instead.
I wished you have more professional review with the view of the under-body. Suspension setup, steering, knuckles, engines/transmission, and control arms. Without that, how do we know how much improvement from the previous Yaris. What you do is just what we can do by visiting dealership and test drive it.
"Fair Warning" (from personal experience), for SOME REASON the rear deck lid/trunk does tend to "pop" itself open while driving. When I questioned my local Toyota Dealership, it was "non-adjustable", or a Safety concern (for the Dealership/Toyota)! And was not considered a "Recallable Situation" since they did not "VALIDATE" the complaint/concern... I LOVE my 2020 Yaris LE Sedan (ICECYCLE [Unicorn] WHITE), although it has absolutely no power, I drive like an "Old Fart" (minus the 3-mile blinker). After daily use for the past 31 months, I still have under 13,000 miles, I average 37-51 MPG! Lastly, when I used my last Maintenance Warranty (only 2 years), I was offered $19,500 to be used for a Trade-In. You cannot purchase a (reasonably equal) BRAND NEW car for under $26,000 today!
Mazda makes GREAT, FUN small cars, so to have the Mazda put their hands in this one is GREAT...Toyota should be grateful and so should Toyota customers.... This is far better than the competition especially for the class, And this craps all over the last yaris
The Toyota Yaris is still a much better handling car than the new Corolla or even the new Mazda 3. Those in the know....know. Get it with the 6 speed manual and you'll be happy and the price is right.
Plus the Yaris has more passenger volume of 87 cubic feet of space vs 86 cubic feet of space in Corolla hatch. Which is weird since the Corolla is considered compact and the Yaris a subcompact
Trunk without a key is a very bad issue. My husband has 2018 Yaris and he left his key inside the trunk by accident. It took quite some time to access the trunk from the inside (back seats). It’s just so dumb to make it so complicated.
Sofyan is hit or miss with the car reviews. He doesn't review the car from the perspective of the potential buyer. The entire purpose of this car is to be a cheap commuter car that's reliable. It's not supposed to have a high HP or be a super sporty fast car. This is why KBB is still the best review channel on youtube in my opinion.
Until your in the city with people in cars 150+hp and trying to merge on the highway and have to strangle your engine to get up to speed, thus making your mpg go down.
Everyone is going to come back to the subcompact once those gas prices skyrocket by the end of the year thanks to new regulations on coal and oil in America
*I don't know why anyone would buy this car without the excellent and cheaper six speed manual transmission, it turns it into a whole different and more responsive experience, since it matches the engine much better.*
Not sure why 0-60 matters in a car like this Most people are going to buy this new to drive around town as a commuter car most likely not traveling from state to state.
I contacted Toyota. They don't even offer a center armrest that's dealer installed, despite it being listed as an accessory in their own brochure for the Yaris
I do wish we got the all-new Yaris for the hatch instead of the iA. Europe is getting a new Toyota with some very interesting engines. The trunk won't open if you have the key inside for security, it's a good feature :-/
The Mazda Skyactiv engines and transmissions have been out since 2013 and they have been bulletproof reliable powertrains. Whereas the Corolla has already had re-calls on the CVT and the previous gen is already having CVT failures. Also if you did a bit of research you would see that Mazda just beat Toyota and took the #2 spot for Consumer Reports Most Reliable Automakers. Toyota is #3 now and Lexus is still #1.
I test drove the brand new 2019 Toyota Yaris 4 door hatchback in 2019 at the dealership with an automatic transmission. The car was miserable to drive. The most gutless car I have ever driven. I ended up buying a 2008 Honda FIT with the automatic transmission and that car has pep and is so fun to drive. 206,000 miles now and everything still works and it still gets 36 mpg. I’m trying to source the head lights and grill inserts along with the trunk lid spoiler. Now that it doesn’t look like everyone else’s, I enjoy it more.
Publications that tested 0-60 claimed to get there in 8.7 seconds for both manual and automatic.
I drive a 2016 CX-3 and felt right at home in this interior lol
I drove 4 gen civics for years and years. I have a soft spot for small, simple, cheap cars. Even this one.
If you go Honda again stay away from their Earth Dreams engine ,the turbo forces gasoline into the oil due to loose fitting oil seal rings on the pistons then it's goodbye engine.
@@leekumiega6576 Not all Earth dreams engines are turbo tho.
This is probably the number selling car in Puerto Rico where I live. No joke. It’s everywhere. As soon as they came out. Since the first one to this Mazda built one. It’s funny because people here are die hard Toyota fans. Mazda not so much. Toyota has been the number one selling brand here a couple of years now.
yes, small car sales have slowed even for Toyota and Honda. But unlike GM, Chrysler and Ford, the Japanese are not discontinuing small cars.
REDLINE REVIEWS YOU ARE THE BEST
Much better than the Yaris today used to make
The yaris hatch is gonna be amazing because it's a mazda2 hatch in America again
I bet this car would be a lot more appealing if they offered a turbo charged version
0:05 idk why but i love the steering wheel it almost looks the same as the nissan ones!
If you have the 6 speed. Most of the time your hand will be resting on the stick shift.
Very good review. Nice that you are reviewing cheaper car segment. Also a great idea to include some bloopers in your videos. Grtz from Belgium
Why does anyone listen to someone who drives major horsepower cars like his Tesla and Cayman what do you think he is going to say about the power on this Yaris? It’s a City car, and a very cheap commuter car.
I like how you can get LED headlights/tailights in the top of the line model.
I picked up a color brochure from Toyota and noted that armrest and navigation are available as accessories. I remember spending an extra $250.00 for my mini cooper.
Similar horsepower, btw.
Didn't realize you were miles away from my hometown NOVA!
the album cover / artwork isn't showing on my 2019 toyota yaris sedan, the bluetooth works and everything it's just missing the artwork, any fixes?
You need to do the hatchback review also, also all 2020 model has android auto and apple car play.
Wish they sell the Mazda2 hatch here in the US with the manual in the top trim.
Cargolplex you can import from Puerto Rico. been on sale here for years both current and previous gen. No problems importing it.
@@jessequijano Still would be better if they just sell them so you don't have to deal with imports.
Great video like always I love yairs it’s a good car recommend it people with a low budget
Except this is not going to last nowhere near as long as the last Yaris. Toyota is shooting themselves in the foot with this vehicle.
DeadofWinter321 nobody is buying a yaris to keep forever lol
The Toyota Yaris is still a much better handling car than the new Corolla or even the new
Mazda 3.
This would make a great electric competitor to the Nissan Leaf. Do it Toyota!!
Trunk without a key is a very bad issue. My husband has 2018 Yaris and he left his key inside the trunk by accident. It took quite some time to access the trunk from the inside (back seats). It’s just so dumb to make it so complicated.
I test drove one of these. It’s... there if you need it I guess
It turns on
My sister has a 2017 yaris and loves it.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought this looked like a Mazda
I don't like that Toyota likes to use big grills on their cars. To keep it cheaper, LED headlights were not standard
I think the way it works, it needs to detect the smart key for you to open the trunk, in other words you have to have it on your person
I agree. Someone who buys this doesn't give a rats ass how fast it goes. Or 0-60 times. It's meant for single people
Until your in the city with people in cars 150+hp and trying to merge on the highway and have to strangle your engine to get up to speed, thus making your mpg go down.
Sofyan is better. Nuff said. KBB sucks.
Everyone is going to come back to the subcompact once those gas prices skyrocket by the end of the year thanks to new regulations on coal and oil in America
Glove compartment “cheaply falls”😂😂😂
Great Review Of 2019 Toyota Yaris. 😀
Economy penalty boxes😩😩😩😩I felt that
Oh what a feeling Mazota.
*toyozda*
Zoom zoom
1.5L , 106hp, 103lb-ft , Really?
Now is 2019. Not 1990s.
Oh fuck!
*I don't know why anyone would buy this car without the excellent and cheaper
six speed manual transmission, it turns it into a whole different and more responsive experience, since it matches the engine much better.*
It's a fun driving car, think of it like a more practical Miata with decent storage space
Not sure why 0-60 matters in a car like this Most people are going to buy this new to drive around town as a commuter car most likely not traveling from state to state.
True - I never accelerate while driving in my home state.
If I wanted this car then I'll drive down to Mexico and buy the actual Mazda 2 hatch, it's sold in Mexico!
Who else thought he was gonna hit that Chevy at 16:59?
I have a 2018 yaris ia. I like the headlights. Mine is a base model. Another words isn't an le or xle .
Bring back the Mazda2, Mazda!
This car is really not dat slow tbh
I contacted Toyota. They don't even offer a center armrest that's dealer installed, despite it being listed as an accessory in their own brochure for the Yaris
i had them install the armrest into my 2018 IA so yes it will fit
I do wish we got the all-new Yaris for the hatch instead of the iA. Europe is getting a new Toyota with some very interesting engines.
The trunk won't open if you have the key inside for security, it's a good feature :-/
16:58 Soy had me SHOOK here 😵🥴 I certainly wouldnt have risked that
Can you please do a review on newest MAZDA 3? by the way I watch your reviews from Canada
Here ya go:

I have the Scion is of this car and it's the best car I ever had great car for the money
With this one being completely mazda, just rebadged as Toyota, I would really be concerned about the reliability and longetivity for this car.
PP exactly, that’s the only thing keeping me from being totally interested in this car
Get the FIT if you can afford it!
If toyota released that yaris here in philippines, it'll be selling like a hot cake.
