TY! I asked for this exact comparison a few videos back, not only did you reply were most creators do not you followed up with the match up! Hands down best air-gun channel I've seen on TH-cam... not only in the solid info but putting out content your viewers want thanks again!
Thanks!
Glad to see U r back. Last time I tuned in to U, U were really pissed off about the haters, said u were through. I told U to not worry about the them. I have always been a fan and subscriber. KEEP UP AND many will enjoy your efforts.
You
DANDY precision w/ that Gauntlet that first 5!
I own both in .25 cal. Love them both for different reasons in different shooting situations. Both are tack driving accurate. I put the Donny FL adapters for moderators. They’re quiet, but moderated they are dang near mouse fart quiet. They shoot the heck out of Crow Magnums and FX Hybrids. Starting to play with NSA and JSB slugs. They do not disappoint. Very accurate. Very deadly at , so far, ranges out to 75-80 yrds on squirrels. You can not beat these for a starter PCP. Both get this review out of the box. I haven’t even begun to mess with the settings.
Mouse fart quiet lol
Well now, my Avenger (.25) is easy to hand pump as I have the regulator set at 2200 psi and I pump it to 3000 psi. This will give me 50 FPE with a 25 gr. pellet. My buddy down the road has a Avenger in .22. He has the regulator set at 600 psi and uses co2. Steadily putting 5 rounds inside of a ring binder reinforcement without touching the ring. He loves the Avenger ,he also has a gantlet in .22 .it also works well with co2.
Right on!
Yeah. That’s probably the main difference as far as I’m concerned, besides weight.
How many regulate shots you get for 3000 psi?
You can adjust the regulator with shims on the Gauntlet. You can aslo adjust the hammer spring. But this is more involved than the AV. You can also rework the trigger to be match grade on the Gauntlet. You can also put a 360cc bottle on the Gauntlet and get 150 shots in. 177 at 3,000 psi fill.
The AV is very lightweight to carry around hunting. It can be adjusted down to also give high shot count. It also has a smooth side lever and better placed swivel studs. The power adjustments are easier to make. Iam not sure if you can work the trigger as easy as the Gauntlet.
I believe the AV is loud compared to the Gauntlet. So if that is an issue you will have to buy a moderator. This is an extra expense and adds weight and length.
I have a Gauntlet already. But I will be getting a AV as well. At this price. Why not?
Thanks brother for your excellent review.
God bless you. Merry Christmas.....😁
Thanks merry Christmas to you too!
I like the Gauntlet’s adjustable cheek rest.
Yep!
Underrated channel
Thanks!
TOTALLY AGREE !!!! Jimmy knows his shit.
You forgot to mention the side bolt vs the side lever. I am going to bet the side lever is smoother and better.
i have the Avenger in .25, the Gauntlet in .22 a Nova Vista Liberty in .22 and .177 and all 4 shoot lights out. Now...the handling in the field of the Avenger and Liberty's is much more friendly and all 4 are moderated yet the Gauntlet is by far the loudest and heaviest. The only gun of the 4 that doesn't have an adjustable regulator is the Gauntlet. I use the Avenger .25 and the .22 Liberty the most and more so even then my LCS SK-19 .25 and .22. The LSC .25 is my truck gun along with my .22 Bandit. The first 4 are way too long to be practical inside the cab of a truck. As you know the Liberty is the Gen 1 of the Avenger. Both are super guns for the money, and in fact all mentioned above are awesome.
I plan to mod the hell out of a gauntlet, but I might pick one of these up too cause they are just such a good deal.
Excellent video and as always honestly direct and not playing for the masses
Would love to see comparisons between pellets vs slugs at both 50 and 100 yards, just a suggestion for a future video. I know you would have to sight for each but would be interesting as I hear that slugs group better at longer distances up to 200 yards due to extra weight and less wind resistance?!
Thanks Greg! I'll see what I can do
I enjoyed your video and hope my following suggestions for future videos do not place me in the category of a “hater”. I offer these as a professional who has done scientific testing for a living. Here we go:
1. Head to Head is better done by have as few differences in variables as possible. Why did you use 2 different scopes?
2. You mentioned the pellets used in the Air Venturi model were “optimized”. Were the JSB’s in the Gauntlet “optimized”? I have had a Gauntlets for 3 years, have shot more than 3,000 pellets of 15 varieties and find the JSB Diabolo 18 grain pellets consistently perform the best at both 50 and 100 yards.
3. Backyard friendly is very important to me, and decent sound meters are inexpensive. I think numerical data versus “sound about the same” would add value to your comparisons.
4. As with #3, chronos are inexpensive. Why not include some measures of muzzle velocity, target impact velocity and energy in future videos?
Keep up the good work. I think the air gun community needs as much support as it can provide to itself...especially as the Dims are preparing to take or tax our powder guns!
I have both. I prefer shooting the Gauntlet. I was actually surprised how cheap the Avenger felt when I took it out of the box. Hollow and cheap plastic. Just my opinion. I actually painted the Avenger stock and filled the stock with spray from to take out the hollow feel. I also don’t like how curved the Avenger trigger is. It’s like a half circle.
Same!
A\V for the win. Just my preference.
will wreck all those $1K plus over priced guns if accuracy is the point,,,, mine will be here this friday and in .25 cal,,, now if it works for me i will be wanting one in .30 or .357
@@jimmyhaley727 I doubt AV will make anything over .25cal. Would be nice but shot count would drastically be affected with the current volume of air cylinder.
Having the gauntlet for three years I would think you would have it dialed in better.
THAT'S A NICE LITTLE SETUP YOU PUT THERE TODAY AIRGUN SCIENTIST...
I LOVE THE LOOK AND THE DESIGN OF THE UMAREX GAUNTLET MORE THAN I DO THE AVENGER BUT THE AVENGER HAS MORE KNOCKDOWN POWER AND ITS EASIER TO ADJUST TO YOUR NEEDS..
Thanks man!
What are the shots for fill? Good video... Thanks.
I love your videos...very honest & interesting, I have to admit that I had learned a lot cause your vids bro. Thanks!
Great comparison. Thanks. I like the Avenger.
Thanks!
yes and the WW II airplane was not bad either,, hehehe
Just going to get into PCP. One thing you didn't mention is the plastic receiver of the Avenger. That makes me cringe a bit. After two years, any issues because of this? Thanks.
Southern gunner sent me. Thanks was actually looking for this comparison.
Avenger will also accept 11mm dovetail scope mounts.
Personally I find the air Venturi avenger very easy to hand pump to redline.
Thanks for the information, I can’t afford a $400.00 pump.
I personally prefer my Avenger .22 Cal. Great video brother! 😊
Thanks!
What is the name of the mag you are using ? I'd like to buy a few, I have not noticed anything unusual with my Avenger mag, but would love to compare..never hurts having a few extra mags either. I'm loving my AV Avenger so far.
I'm a springer guy, but want to get into PCPs. Just so expensive for accessories. I was wanting the Avenger, but I'm hearing ALOT of talk about leaky seals. IDK 'bout the Gauntlet. Weight means alot. Leaning Avenger, or cheap Beeman underlever PCP.
Avenger all the way for me brother...its got everything going for it... 2 gage's cocking lever adjustable reg and better performance as well...great composition James awesome video brother...👍👍🇺🇸
Thanks man!
They really are different beasts. If going 25 and want to upgrade for power and shot count I say go gauntlet. The avenger wins in every other aspect I believe. I have a gauntlet in 25 tuned at 60fpe and gets 80 shots that can be turned up to around 70fpe(500cc 4500psi bottle). My avenger in 22 is nowhere near capable of that power with the same shot count tuned for accuracy with 18gr. The avenger in 25 has a hard time getting close to my gauntlet but shot count is horrible at those settings. MY avenger out shoots MY gauntlet pretty much every time out at 75 and 100 yards but not by much. The weight and side lever are a huge plus and in 22 is much cheaper to mess around with all the time. IF I need the power the UX is a beast and I still love that thing. Blows holes through coins taped to my fence lol. My crazy gauntlet th-cam.com/video/Mv1g71ce0Tg/w-d-xo.html
Nice!
I own both guns. No needs to compare which one beats the other because they are both good guns. It won’t break your bank if you buy both.
Yep!
Any modifications to either one of them? Maximum shots number before they drop? Thank you.
I was going to buy the umerex when it came out but there were too many modifications that I had to do, so I didn’t buy. Thank you.
Why are you using different weight pellets? Shouldn't they be the same weight, or because the reg pressure is different your trying to make it fare?
which one is more powerful? you mean air venturi avenger will be difficult for hand pumpers to refill?
Nice presentation and thank you for your efforts.I like to point out that the Gauntlet indeed has two orings on the probe but the Avenger does not ,it has an oring in the chamber.I prefer the orings on the probe since they are much easier to replace. You can also drop the pressure quite a bit on the regulator on the Avenger and only pump to 3k psi and still get plenty of shots.I do enjoy your videos.
thanks! My Avenger came with 2 orings on the probe
@@STKO2011 Lol bud, there's a reason why i shoudn't be making comments late at night . I was thinking of my Cayden, what a dumbass. You are absolutely right.
No worries!
I own both the 177 and 22 Umarex Gauntlet, but have never shot the Air Venturi Avenger (yet). These are THE two most exciting PCP air rifles in the world right now due to the affordability vs features. Top notch PCP air rifles for $300 each. Can't wait to see the outcome of this video and Jimmy's opinion.
thanks!
Can I lower the velocity to about 750-800 fps in .22? More shots, and perhaps MORE accurate w/ lower velocity.
Can’t go wrong with either one!
Best intro ever James! What would u get out of those two or gamo gx40, I like that that particular gamo is BSA made,in the U.K., and non regulated so less possible fail points. But I know the others are good but probably made in China so worried about longevity and build quality. And I normally like wood stocks but if I wanna get a cheap pcp then plastic is cheaper so these 3 are on my radar maybe between avenger and gamo more so. Any things that are major downsides with non regulated I guess ppl like the avenger. But the build quality is my concern and sounds hollow and like thin plastic
Gauntlet on sale was (is?) going for $180 at places like Pyramid air; that ain't happening with Avenger for quite a while (if ever considering US money printing). If you're spending Avenger money, might as well go Marauder.
Why did you use different pellets? You should use the same weight pellet on both, then you will see the difference
Did you say the same Karm magazine will work in the Marauder, Gauntlet, and Avenger equally well in .22? @ 6:04
Yep!
Awesome review as always.I own the Gauntlet in .177 and an Avenger in .25. I also own the Seneca Aspen that was my First pcp rifle in .22 but compared to an Avenger os Gauntlet it's much weaker. So I wanted a stronger .22 rifle and was deciding on either one of these two.
Seeing how I have an extended bottle, regulator set to 1400 psi from Hajimoto I decided to go for the Gauntlet in .22.
Thanks for the help, I should have purchased the Avenger in .22 when it was being sold buy P/A as a return but I think You bought it before I tried.
thanks for watching!
AV best all around. More power. Shoots right up there with much more expensive guns.
How many shots per fill does each gun get?
60+ shots on reg for both right out of the box
You set up the avenger to get 115 shots on the reg. The Avenger is a more tuneable gun. Set the reg at 1400psi and a light hammer spring still get the rifle shooting 16 grains pellets at 860fps with 115 shots!!!!!!!!!!!
3:17 he had a voice crack lol 😂
How would you say these guns compare to the beeman commander/chief
What AIR VENTURI AVENGER should have done was Wood stock like its brother ATI NOVA VISTA NOVA LIBERTY. $349 Just like
UMAREX GAUNTLET Plastic stock it's brother QB79 Wood stock.
Yea the hollowed out stock isn't the best feature of the gun
Lol,, the A,V clearly the winner,, better looking, lighter, more sleek ,, smoother cocking, lever action, ajustible power,, more powerful , just as easy to pump,, this is a no brainier
Awesome shooting at 50 yards! This video demonstrates why you don’t need to spend $500 and more on a PCP rifle - both the Gauntlet and Avenger are awesome guns, great accuracy at a great price.
Thanks!
Right so you end up having to pay for a pump worth more than your rifle
@@itszach6808 I use a $40 hand pump off eBay. I pump 30 to 50 pumps at a time, then let pump cool. It’s easy to do, gets you a bit of exercise, and has been super reliable. Pump it up at night and shoot the next day.
Ed Gillis Thanks Ed, I think I’m gonna pull the trigger on one
Great comparison of this two and very realistic. Congrats
Thanks!
Not really a great review. The gauntlet at over 9 lbs is over 3 lbs. heavier than the Avenger. The Avenger with a "Eco Tune" is every bit as easy to pump to 300 psi and you can go much higher if you like. You can figure on getting at or very close to it, 115 shots on a max fill. You can tune for more power at settings that will work better with pellets of 20 gr or heavier or switch to slugs. A higher powered tune will deliver more power, flatter trajectory, and stopping power for larger game like coons, fox, woodchuck, etc. The narrator could of done a better job studying up on the guns hw was reviewing before taping this issue.
@@jerrykmack3074 obviously it must be good enough when I get shout outs from some of the most respected airgun channels?
@@STKO2011 They are being encouraging and that in itself is fine but frankly you were sloppy and incorrect and that is exactly what you should Not be striving for.
Instead of getting your back up Son that my critisisms along with others as they come along as constructive and valuable. And without any malice, you should of apoligised to your viewers for the inaccuracies you presented, corrected the mistakes and moved on. Your opinions are your own and you should express them. You did just that in several instances, Good Job1 but your evaluations should be factual. That is very important and the best out there in print and on the Web doing evaluations know how vital that is for their success. The people out there that pat you on the back while ignoring mistakes or obvious shortcomings, while good intentioned, do you no great favor. Teachers need to be honest and the best friends are also.
@@jerrykmack3074(apologized) that's the correct spelling⬆ if you plan on critiquing others you should first proofread your story. Just a little constructive criticism for you to study up on.
It really really works
Which one feels above the price point when operating?
In my eyes they seem equal, but with the Gauntlet it's mostly metal and not plastic that's why theres a huge weight difference
@@STKO2011 my gauntlet feels pretty light after hefting around my benji xl break barrels. They are at 12 lbs scoped out.
@@markmtbrider I bet!
Both!
How many good shoot's are you getting out of each gun per fill of air ???
60+ on both
Thank you
The Avenger with it's easily externally adjustable regulator and hammer spring has a great deal of latitude for tailoring performance (and shot count per fill) look for youtube video DIY on the 3 power and velocity settings and exactly how to do all three. The lowest velocity setting on the .22 Avenger delivers 840 fps, 24 fpe at the muzzle and delivers great accuracy with pellet weights from 14 to 18+ gr. out to 100 yrds and will give you around 115 shots per air fill.
@@jerrykmack3074 thank you buddy
@@jerrykmack3074 ANY way to get it down to 750 fps?
What scope are u using ?
Have both .25 cal shoot almost the same Gauntlets been tuned and 30 fps faster
ty very good vid
Wow, that's some fine shooting. I thought I had a steady hand, but I wouldn'''t bet him any money, ( except for stand up ) haha
Hey there, where can I see your o-ring delete kit?
th-cam.com/video/EZpXKGrZXAg/w-d-xo.html
Avenger shot great, too!
What is the CC capacity on the Air venturi?
180cc I believe
Thanks for this video man! Have a gauntlet .22 and have been on a waiting list foreverrrrrrrrrrrrrr for a Venturi. I shoot, but I hunt more than anything. The gauntlet had def lived up to all the accuracy hype. No doubt......but I don’t hunt bench rested lol. I’m pretty built guy and I’m here to tell ya that if your not willing to put in a considerable amount of time free hand shooting a gauntlet, when you get out in the field, it will not matter how bench test accurate it is. The 60 some regulated shots sounded really freakn cool and seemed to be a major positive. Not so much. If you are planning on spending hours upon hours at a range, sure, it’s helpful. But in the field it’s virtually useless to me. If I take more than ten shots in a day of hunting......well I’ve shot horribly😆. To echo what you said about the magazines. 500 shots in and I had to disassemble and reseat the spring. Junk. Appreciate this review very much sir!
Thanks!
Gauntlet mag was junk?
So from a loudness standpoint, how much louder is the A/V? A of A lists both as “medium”, but there’s medium and there’s MEDIUM... if anyone has any idea how it compares to a Benjamin Trail that would be the greatest! I’d like to take the PCP route, but I’d like to stay in the backyard, and the neighbors haven’t complained about the Benjamin.
Probably same loudness as the Benjamin
@@STKO2011 awesome, thanks! took the leap and put an order in for one the other day.
Someone knows how hard it's to use a hand pump with the avenger?
Great video man
A/V is a more powerful gun, period, more adjustability, A/V hands down a better gun
Definitely not true. My gauntlet can go over 70fpe. I have both the av and gauntlet
@@nicedward7544 you're gauntlet is modified, of course after that its going to be more powerful
Overall the av is better but if wanting a powerful 25 I'd still choose the gauntlet for being able to upgrade and have wayy more shots. Mine usually sits at 60fpe for 80 shots. Impossible for the av to do unless you get a bottle adapter.
@@nicedward7544 hammer spring on max, plus regulator on 2900, my avenger is shooting 60-64 fpe with 34 grainers
@@nicedward7544 of course I wouldn't get 80 shots on those settings😂
Another great video thanks
Thanks!
this video is already out of date because you're using the 22 caliber Gauntlet the 25 caliber Gauntlet is just much different of a rifle that has a barrel shroud different regulated pressure just a different gun
Is it better?
Air Venturi baby! Why different ammo in each one? Keep it consistent with the same ammo.
because that's what they both shoot the best with...different twist rates results in different accuracy/precision
So what if it's different ammo? You think EVERY gun likes the same pellet??
Is the Avenger easy to pump with a hand pump
Not to full.
Nice video good video thanks
Only way to compare the guns to each other is to set them to the same power lever and use the same pellet stop using different pellet and power levels
BS! Different guns like different pellets.
You can tune the avenger down the around 1200 PSI
Yes!!! Then you can use lighter pellets 14.3 grain pellets shoot around 830-850 range. You probably get around 115-120 shots at that psi on the reg. Remember speed is not your friend with some pellets you want to be in the 840-860 fps range for shooting long ranges 50 yards or more.
So witch one you prefer, ? Come on dude that's I watch the video
im surprised you didnt get you the 2018 airgun of the year ? THE N O V A F R E E D O M ! ! !
Yeah I couldn't pass up the deal I got on the avenger
@@STKO2011What was the deal?
Pyramyd has the Avenger refurb for $250. Should I???
Why not shoot the same pellets on both guns?
So what if it's different ammo? You think EVERY gun likes the same pellet??
I want to get an avenger in .22, would be economical. Does anyone know if the avenger will go through a one inch pine board at twenty five yards? If it can, that would put it in the lethal category, I really would know the penetration of the avenger, thanks.
It should
Power is for dummies. ACCURACY is for Kings!
Nice review again boss! I'd pick the 6lb regulated ajustable power air rifle any day.And it's more powerful! Ed The Backyard Sniper Man😀✌
Right on!
i like your vids you do a pretty good job but if the rifle is on a bag it is suported unsuported would be shooting free handed
Thanks!
1800 psi regulated!! hahaha
Your finger draw back had to much drag, its the same as jerking the trigger. Just something I learned at Ft. Benning. Just an FYI
Another great video production as usual brother!👍👍👍
My hand pump only goes to 3500psi it's a benjamin pump so it's the .25 gauntlet
Great intro haha
Thanks!
it feel like I'm watching Sheldon Cooper and fin with flags you need to relax a little .
That's not fair you should use the same ammo and weight
So what if it's different ammo? You think EVERY gun likes the same pellet??
In my very humble opinion the Air Ventury is wayyyyyyy better. Thanks.
Thanks!
Great video James! We all know you love your Gauntlet and it has served you well for a few years. WARNING Readers!! (Read Instructions before adjusting the Regulator) If you adjust the Avengers reg. down to match the gauntlet and filled to the same pressure (2900), it would be interesting to see which rifle is more accurate, more air efficient(shot count), and has the longest range accuracy? Of course 2 equal scopes would have to be used on both rifles with the grip tripod. With more years of technology behind it one would assume? But you never know? It is awesome all this new technology is being added to air rifles and what a great time to have choices!!!!
Both are regulated. Gauntlet is 1100 PSI Avenger (I think) is 1800 PSI. 2000 or 2900 in bottle won't make any difference.
@@mychevysparkevdidntcatchfi1489 Will the regulated pressure being reduced in the Avenger change the shooing characteristics of the Avenger? Won't it also reduce the range (distance) of which the pellets are accurate? Just trying the easiest way to compare apples to apples!
The Avenger reg can be set up for high fps. Use a heavier pellet like 25.3 grain pellets still shoot in the 900 fps range. You get 50 good shots on the reg to!!! If you set the reg at a lower pressure you can shoot 14.3-18 pellets from 820-860fps ranges plus get around 90-120 shots per fill!!! Warning ⚠️ ⚠️⚠️ to lower the reg pressure you have to degas the gun first!!!!
@@Budsc1 Thanks for the information. So the Gauntlet .22 Reg is at a very low 1100 fps. The two rifles can be compared equally. The reg and the fill pressure can be matched leaving only the volume as a variable? Best comparison one can do?
@@Budsc1 I know didley about PCPs, but I would like the Avenger shooting .22 around 750-800 fps. Possible to get it regulated to that? ty
Good stuff. .....

Sir can you give me a second hand airrifle in scope I have no money to buy a new one thanks.
if you are in the US why do you use airguns when you can buy a fire arm from walmart
What if people only have a backyard, and not 20 acres?
"Hey everybody"
Herro
Why using two DIFFERENT types (and weighs) of pellet when the purpose is a COMPARISON of two different GUNS (not a comparison of two models of pellets)? Plus, you're doing the injustice to Gauntlet since the PCPs are NOTORIOUS to shoot better with heavier pellets. Lame.
So what if it's different ammo, Doc? You think EVERY gun likes the same pellet??
Different Ammo though. Poor comparison. I own the Avenger s in .25. Zeroed at 32 yards.

the gauntlet came with barrel band now in .22!
You don't need a barrel band.
Should of done .25 lol
Go with the gauntlet. The avenger is plastic trash.
