Is Game Gear Any Good on Sonic Origins Plus?

The Game Gear arrives on the Nintendo Switch with the new Plus version of Sonic Origins. Last year Sega made a splash by rebuilding the original Genesis games from the ground up, so did they apply the same TLC to the complete collection of Game Gear games included with Plus?
