Your first 10 years sounds a lot like our first 10 when I was traveling for work 50-60% of the time.
It makes a difference! We are both pretty independent so it worked fine for us, but it is going to feel weird at this point lol

I'm one day in and funny is not the word that comes to mind! lol. I know I'll appreciate it when I'm starting the Camino, but dang, sleeping in the sunlight is surprisingly difficult. Circadian rhythms are no joke!
Ps...Have you been to Amed in Bali? It's such a sweet spot and less touristy. Check out Blue Star Bungalows.
We have been to Amed, went diving there back around 2014 or so. It was pretty quiet back then, but we went spontaneously with some other travelers we met and were only there a few days. We are looking to go back to Ubud this time, we know it is crowded but it is also easy with a lot of great food options, and we want easy so we have lots of time to sit and edit video footage. We anticipate having a lot! lol

I relate to the giddy excitement of having planned a whole adventure! I'm so excited for you guys (and for me...I'm finally getting to France for my first time this year as well!). I think a bit of time apart as a nomadic couple is fun and refreshed the relationship. I so look forward to your Camino content. I'd love to do it one day.
I hope you love France as much as we have. It is just very comfortable for us. And if we can inspire you to do the Camino that would be awesome! (Or who knows, maybe it won't be what we are expecting, you never know lol)

We have to be out of Schengen by the end of July, but it will take a while to get all of our videos edited and released. But I imagine we will have a fair number released by late September, so hopefully you'll find our experience helpful for your own.
Sounds great! We are looking at riding our bikes on the Portugues Camino next spring but are taking a break from fast travel to visit Quebec this summer.
I hope to hear more about that! The Portuguese way is supposed to be great, and biking it sounds fun.

I am curious how the heat will affect us, we are leaving two weeks later than we intended. We've been in Las Vegas for years so we are pretty used to heat, but admittedly we haven't been hiking around with packs on. But I'd rather hike in the heat than in the cold or in the rain. Time will tell how our choice goes for us!

Finally catching up on videos after 42 cruise days. When is David solo in Paris?
We start the Camino on June 5. It is all happening fast!
🤔 I don't mean to be skeptical but I would like to see the expenses for David staying in Paris versus flying home. Please share the specifics.
Fair question, and I suppose we were a little sloppy talking about it. David is staying about an hour outside of Paris in Orleans (a $6 bus ride), which of course makes a big difference, in an Airbnb which cost about $650 for the 16 days. My plane ticket was about $1200 cash round trip on French Bee, so that still leaves him $550 to spend on food and whatever activities he finds (though his main intention is bird watching which is free). Even if he ends up spending more, it seemed worth it to have two more weeks in France on a solo adventure instead of just sitting here in Vegas sleeping during the day like I have to do. lol

My partner and I will be visiting Paris next month ourselves and I've wondered if we could save money by staying just a bit outside. I would definitely pick a trip to Paris over Vegas since you live there! lol Please consider doing a video (if you haven't already) on your Airbnb experiences! We are in London now and even after many Airbnb stays at home we are learning a thing or two, pros and cons. Thank you! Safe travels!
@@jackbaldwin3649 An Airbnb video is on the agenda, though with our impending schedule it might be a little bit before we actually produce it. But yes, Airbnb can be awesome and terrible depending on your expectations and how good you are at reading in between the lines. lol Have fun in Paris! They are already setting up Olympic venues all over and I'm sure it will only get more crowded, but we really enjoyed the city a lot. (We stayed in Serris near Disneyland, I don't think it was any cheaper but we did feel like we got more for our dollar than what we were finding in downtown Paris.)
