A little beach town that I enjoyed was Petrovac. I spent several months there and went back there two or three times. Petrovac is.a place to kick back and relax. You won't be swamped with American tourists. The tourists were fairly evenly divided from all parts of the world. This is not a partying beach town. It's a lovely little coastal village where you can enjoy the food and scenery and perhaps use as a base to travel to other parts of the country.
Dang, what a great view and trip to the balkans without leaving the US. How beautiful and what a beautiful part of the world. Montenegro is on my bucket list for sure.
I’ve walked those Kotor streets, the top of castle 2x, the winding trail 1x. My friend took me to tivat to catch plane to leave from Herzegovina Novi in his 43 foot sailboat. One great way to leave such a breathtaking country.😊
Looks like a great place to visit. On a geek note you all have hit your stride on storytelling and video editing. Very much appreciate the time and effort put into these videos.
Had heard of Montenegro and Albania in passing after Yugoslavia broke up. Thanks to you, we know these are picturesque livable places with wonderful citizenry.
Many thanks for this video! I'm still trying to wrap my head around all these countries that were what i learned growing up as Yugoslavia, and the wars that followed the break up.
Thanks for posting videos of sites whete you travel & telling us about what it is like to live there. It uplifts those who are unable for whatever reason.
What a glorious little country. Breathtaking blend of dwellings and scenery. Just what the mind needed to break from the distressing politics and economic woes in the US. Thanks from a big fan who shares your love of Indian vegetarian .. been following your journeys from your early days in Ecuador.
I like the new format, it's jazzy and slick. I will still watch your videos no matter what the style is because in the end, they are chockfull of information and useful and that's what it's all about. Thanks again !
After Podgorica that was cheaper as you've said, I stayed in Sutomore near Bar for 15 Euro per night. It cost me 1.50 Euro to visit Bar where I had to pay tourist tax. Bus to Budva cost 4.50 Euro each direction. After one month in Montenegro they told me that I didn't have to pay any more tax or keep registering. I agree about supermarkets not having varieties. Yet, the locals are so proud of their supermarkets. I've also noticed that there are many Russians and Serbians who live here. Serbian, Croatian and Montenegrin language is same, only different dialect.
I have tons of friends moved there for quite awhile and generally they are happy with the move. Although there are some hidden issues typical for ex Soviet block countries that most western expats are not familiar with before they face it. It can become serious at times.
I’m so jealous 💚Kotar was one of destination’s on a Mediterranean Cruise I was going to go on,,,,,..I’ll just travel through you two ….thanks for your video 👍Tobey in Arizona 🌵🌞
I was there 2 weeks ago, and who should be sitting next to me having dinner? The famous rock guitarist Alex Lifeson of RUSH with his wife! As a longtime music fan, I couldn't believe it! The manager told me lots of famous actors/actresses and musicians go to Montenegro because of it's beauty and anonymity.
I've spent couple weeks a year for past 3 yrs in Azores, algarve and finally Costa del Sol in Malaga but toke several day trips around. I was always amazed at places like Ronda and Sentinel etc " how and why". The places seemed crazy to actual live in hundred of years ago. Tribal warfare constant invasions etc ... But it's "slave labor" ... You asked how did they build all this walls in Montenegro she's the castles etc. Europe was built with slave labor. I found several plaques in Ronda Spain that called the workers "Captives"... Yeah, another European word for SLAVES. All those amazing structures and architecture???? Yeah, slave labor. Thousands of years of it. But I still love the place. And the architecture is truly amazing.
So glad you are showing Montenegro! I dated a girl from Montenegro. lol she had a really funny sense of humor. Kinda weird taste though... she thought putting ketchup on pizza was a thing...
My friends live there half the year. When the cruise ships come into the harbor, look straight up. Youll see him working on his place. They want me to move there.
Big laugh at my last job was me saying when asked how an I doing "I am living the dream". However, in both of your cases you are living the dream. I hope it continues for many years to come. :)
Yes JP I was fortunate to grow up in Germany and my best (German) friend's grandma used to bake the apple strudel every Sunday and we used to enjoy those...I think Germany and Austria are very similar culturally
If you have ever been to the Island of Hydra in Greece, it is the Cat Capital of the World!!!!! Was there the first time in the 70's never saw so many cats in my life, which is ok as I am an animal lover LOL
My next scouting trip is planned for Villa Real Portugal.. With a foot ferry to Ayamonte Spain. Best of both countries. Live in Portugal but eat in Spain. Too many scary water shortages and issues in Spain.
You both are so refreshing. What an interesting place ~ now on my bucket list. 😊 Food looks amazing. Thank you for covering it in such beautiful detail.
Kotor is worth living in at least one moth a year. Tivat is fun. Sveti Stephan is a dream to swim. It also is the start of a really nice hike/walk to Budva.
I Really Loved this video style!!🎉 I think the language barrier & lack of google translation could be a deterrent for me? Noticed mostly veggies, are you both vegetarian? Great detailed video!
Wow, first Amelia you are truly beautiful! Next your channel is exactly what I’ve been looking for. I’m considering getting back to Europe to visit but your videos are convincing me to look at non-EU countries and maybe moving permanently. Thank y’all so much for sharing all your information, experience and insights 🙂. Subscribed!
So JP your ancestors were from the German speaking Austria ...beautiful country with a lot of cultural activities in Vienna..perhaps one of the most important cultural hubs of Europe
Very nice format! Maybe you could include some Historical Architecture? Cuenca has beautiful buildings from the 1600's. Really enjoyed your video! Please include Museums for us Indoor girls.
Also I have a friend who rents bicycles out to ride down the serpentine road, with 25 hairpins. There is a little log cabin up there, with a very nice woman who will make you a really hardy breakfast, before the cruise down. There may even be snow up there. 😊
You guys!!! We are staying at one of your old places in Cuenca! We are at the small places by the river with the man who did a video from the lookout showing all the areas.

Hi, "Amelia And JP"..., Excellent video and very informative, and "Thank you" for sharing the video ! ! * "I love the Cat's 😺 ! !" Beautiful country, cities, and towns... Excellent video... "Semper Fi" Mike in Montana :) 😺 🐈 😺
I was in Dubrovnik, Croatia three weeks ago (just up the coast). I wanted to visit Montenegro, but unfortunately I didn't. From watching your video, both cities look similar (Vancian Architecture and countryside).
Hey guys I have watched a lot of your videos from Ecuador thx for all the info , we’re taking our first trip next month, could you recommend a guide for a day trip to otavalo ,also best way to combat altitude sickness , diamox??? Thx mark
When I was in Croatia the locals told me that Montenegro is overrun by Russians and Russian investment and in Croatia they have blocked Russians from investing in the country.
The Croatians don't want their neighbours to get tourists and become more well known. If any place is overrun with tourists - it's Croatia. A lot of animosity in the former ex-Yugoslavia.

Because Latin America is poor and dangerous.
Drop the doughnuts 🍩 and get to walking 🚶♀️. Easy as dat!!!😮

"Kim" is the word for "cumin" in the Montenegro language.
Kim looks like cumin, but it is a caraway seed and not cumin.

We (from Canada) retired in Serbia. It is an absolutely magnificent country. Montenegro is beautiful but summer heat is brutal.
