    In this episode we continue our Mallee road trip to Hattah-Kulkyne National Park.
    With a prediction of heavy rain, we packed up our camping trip at Wyperfeld one day early & moved on to accommodation at Ouyen. Ouyen is the nearest town to the Hattah-Kulkyne National Park and it was a wise move, as the weather turned and we ended up with two days of rain & wind.
    Once the weather started to clear, we continue our birding trip to Hattah. Tom & Nimal had the Striated Grasswren (and Emuwren) as their challenge birds. It was tough going, but they succeeded!!
    Karen was keen to see the Apostlebirds so headed off to Hattah Lake where the Apostlebirds were hanging out! It was nesting season so the adults were busy looking after the babies and the juveniles were off exploring.
    After Hattah, we were on our way back home with a few stops for more birding. We were excited to see wild Budgerigars in Gama and we attempted a short stop at Goschen but the mosquitoes were in plague proportions and we had to leave. Our final stop was at the Kerang Ibis rookery to see the Straw-necked Ibis & the Grey-crowned Babblers.
    It was a fabulous trip with some major highlights along the way.

    The rain was a challenge, that's for sure. Glad you succeeded in the end. You have convinced me to upgrade my cameras. I have mostly Sony gear, so will probably go with the A7 iv, as it is super quick with focus.

    • @naturephotographychallenge
      @naturephotographychallenge  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Sam! Actually the rain ended up being quite a nice break for me 🙂 So, starting up again after the rain was great! I'm sure you'll enjoy an upgrade with the A7 iv! They are very professional! If I could afford a Sony, I'd love the A1 with the 200-600mm lens!! (we did give Sony a go when we were buying camera gear as we wanted that lens but we attempted a much cheaper camera and it just didn't work out).

    • @samsabastian5560
      @samsabastian5560 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@naturephotographychallenge That is where I wanted to go to too, with the A1 and the 200-600mm lens. Being retired these days, funds have to be considered, so will go with the A7 iv., unless I win the lottery. I will say that your equipment is doing a good job, and the sharpness you get is excellent in most of your shots.

    • @naturephotographychallenge
      @naturephotographychallenge  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The Regent Parrots are stunning! I'd like to have hopefully a better view to take some photos later this year. Those Grass Wrens are really difficult. I've never seen one but Nimal & Tom are much more patient standing in fly infested prickly plants waiting until they get a sighting. Maybe this year I'll join them? 😆 ~ Karen
