Yes, it’s best to do something’s yourself when you can. I bought a new Chevrolet back in the 80s and had to take it back repeatedly due to the alternator not charging adequately. After two attempts to correct the problem they had not resolved it. So, I popped the hood, loosen the boats to the alternator, tighten the belt and had no more problems. It was an easy fix, but somehow they couldn’t get it done. Do what you can when you can….Jumper
I did call the Dealership service dept to see if they could get me in but they told me it would be two weeks before they could put their hands on it. I said to myself, "they don't know who they are dealing with". I decided to buy the parts and do the job myself because I trust my own worK!

130k+ on my 2015 Silverado belt and it looks like new. It's the same engine.
Don’t wait for it to fail at the most inconvenient time, change it out!
