I will always love classic songs but in my opinion, project diva needs to renovate and the best way is adding more recent and new songs because the series is stuck in old songs
Bruno Gaxiola González I'm gonna have to disagree there. The main reason it wasn't as popular was because of how limited the song choices were. Seriously, there's only like 30 god damn songs. That's so limited in comparison to Future Tone.
Ive been playing the Project Diva games since the original on the psp so hearing the news of a switch release i was incredibly excited. Now that ive gotten my hands on it and have played all the songs on hard and back to my extreme maps (where i belong) your review basically shows the things i like in the game as well. I own all the games on all the platforms theyre on but mega 39 is something special for me considering its portability and that it has most of my favorite future tone maps on the go. The controls dont bother me since i use an adapter to connect my ps4 controller and the new style for the vocaloids is something i dont mind. My only issue with the game relates back to your point of how the vocaloids stick out in certain maps. The vocaloids are toon shaded while the stages still look the same as they do in ft, an example i always use is how the bushes behind miku in aikotoba are more detailed then her modules are. The only other issue i have is the removal of so many good songs like knife, two breathes walking, pink moon, end of solitude but thats a personal preference. I do hope the dlc theyre planning isnt just the removed songs readded at a price otherwise id just play ft. Good review either way and good video!
it's all removed songs :( however they're just the packs fresh from release, so it's possible that there will be more in the future, especially with the english release coming this year
@@akemihr yea i saw the leaks when they came a few days ago. Kind of upset at them especially when two breaths walking, a song i was really upset they removed in the first place, being readded. Like i said ill just play ft for those. And you're likely correct about the fresh release theory as the ft dlc packs where spread out over a year and started coming out a couple months post release of that game. If thats the case then I'll gladly buy those along with the DX 2 Electric boogaloo dlc theyll inevitably release after all the packs for mega 39 are out

@@akemimatuyama6871 this happens in all games excepts project mirai, there are only a few songs in future tone that come from mirai in which the vocals change depending on the character (like 1925 or tricolor airline). most of the songs don't have the vocals changed because they would have to make covers of every song and every vocaloid and it would be a tooon of work
I bought it on my switch as my first project diva game. It felt like something that would be great to play on school breaks and on the school bus. But I soon realized it wasn't enough, sooo I bought the ps4 future tone bundle like a week later. My wallet had a sad moment this month.
@@moonflower3097 Pro controller >>>>> Joy cons imo. I can't stand the buttons they have for a d-pad. They feel so cheap and are even louder then the ABXY buttons. I don't have big hands, but the Joy cons still feel tiny to me. Pro controller also has a wired mode for less input lag.
I wish Crypton would work something out with Internet Co again to get more Gumi collab songs like they did with Project Mirai. even though GUMI was limited in that, it still was fun having her involved.

I honestly didnt get the people that people were trashing the game because it didnt have all of the songs that FT has. "Ewww why would I get this game when I can play future tone on the ps4" then just play future tone. As much as I like the games, Im not sure if I would like to spend 300$ on a ps4 and then get the game when I can get a slightly downgraded version for way cheaper
@@mrcool9090 I only have a switch, so getting half of the songs is fairly frustrating, especially when they offer a couple handful more songs as dlc. Just put everything in the game. The only reason you would need to add dlc is if you couldn't incorporate the songs during the time to create the game, but they did have that time. And after all that it's download only for America. I have a very large SD card but that's a heck of a lot of space to take up. It should have had a physical release considering everyone else got one. And with all the hate it's getting, Sega is gonna think no one wants a Vocaloid game on the switch when the real reason is no one wants Vocaloid lite with added dlc cash grabs on the switch. I really wanna buy it, I was really hyped, but now that it's out I'm just so disappointed. I can't decide if I should buy the dlc that has some of my fave songs on it (I'm generally just against unnecessary dlc as a whole) or if I should by the base game and try to be satisfied knowing that I'm only getting half the game I expected for the full price of the whole thing. It's scummy.
i have megamix, and may i tell you, it’s definitely my favourite game in the Project Diva series everything from the graphics, gimmicks, etc but one of my cons for the game is that, yes, there are a lot of songs- but not classics. there are some classics that everyone loved, but the rest of my favourite songs were left out it sad that in order to play some of my favourites, i need to buy a 35 dollar dlc package. i bought the game on a money crunch and i can’t afford the dlc, but that’s it. still a great game nonetheless
My major gripe with the models is the fact the hair is just too shiny imo, like MEIKO can look really goofy in some PVs, then again I don’t remember much of the models in FT so maybe it’s the same? Other than that I really dislike the option to pay $15 to unlock everything in the game instead of grinding for it, it just feels gross to me.
Love the game, the new charts are so much fun! The only downfall in the controllers. The Joy Cons are too small for me, yet I prefer them over the D-Pad of Horror, that messed up so many of my almost-perfects

Vraey Traern Welp, our of the 238 songs from Future Tone and the 120 or so songs from this game, there are basically no new charts. They refused the old ones, they could’ve at least change the notes.
The only thing I don’t like is not so much about the game, but about the controllers. I have joy-cons and the pro controller, and the joy cons are fine, but they are too small for my hands so I fumble often when playing hard songs, and the pro controller’s size is good, but the D-pad is really bad because of its design. When I play a song with overlapping notes, every time I use the D-pad it always says wrong and its really annoying. So in order to fix this problem, I bought an adapter for the switch that allows me to connect the ps4 DualShock controller to the switch which works extremely well.
I got this game when I was in Japan and honestly I've been playing it non stop, but I do think there should have been more songs from other vocaloids, I'm a Miku fan and I know this game is named after her but damn there where some songs that needed to be in this game and didn't made the cut, and some others that are really not fun and made it so yeah, that's basically my only complaint
i love this game so much, finally in a nintendo console! the only thing I don't like is the dlc. because those are all old songs and I was really expecting new songs. that's my only issue but if I want to play old songs I just play future tone. nice review! :D
I've never had a playstation before, so getting Project Diva on the Switch is so exciting. I can play now and i've already pre ordered the english release.

Okay, I don’t have Megamix, but I just wanted to give my thoughts. I’ve been a Miku fan ever since 2015, and my first Miku rhythm game was Mirai DX, as so many people’s first game was. F and F2nd were my second and third game in 2017, and when I play these games, I was wondering if Miku would be on a Nintendo Console again, since it was a while. In 2018, when the switch was out, I was wondering if Miku on the switch would be necessary. And I was hoping that we’d get a new Miku game, as it had been two years since the last one. But when 2019 arrived, in June, I saw something. A trailer for a Miku game. But, I thought it wasn’t legit. When I saw it was from the SEGA channel, I knew it WAS legit! I watched the trailer, and was shocked to see the Project Diva series was 10 FREAKING YEARS OLD! And when I saw the effects of the game, I was shook. And I saw every single update when there was a new update. I don’t know about you, I actually would recommend this game to people! I’m definitely buying this when it lands in the West!
Good, unbiased review, Blake. I've been playing the series since game 1 on PSP, so I can confirm that this series is fun as hell. I own all the mainline games and Mirai DX on 3DS. I was super stoked when they announced the game's existence/in development status back in July or so of last year. I preordered the game on day 1 (August 30th, 2019). The only thing I'm disappointed with is not the game itself or its shortcomings, but whenever there'd be a press event stream and the panel would play the game, 4/5 people there would suck royally at the game. It's like, why not give the people on staff at Crypton/SEGA an advance copy of the game to play before making an ass of themselves on a live stream and fail every song they attempt? It was cringe worthy and embarrassing. Anyway, I love MegaMIX and thanks for this video. I'm sure it'll help a lot of people decide to get it or not. P.S. SCREW MIX MODE LMAO. P.P.S the option of the PlayStation face button icons is a GODSEND. THANK YOU SEGA!
Seems alright, I am contemplating getting it but one thing I miss which I can't imagine that many people care about but I liked the dumb interaction with the vocaloids in F 2nd :( I want that back lol

Im gonna get a nintendo switch lite in april for my birthday. After i found out about mega mix, i knew i needed to get it. Ive never played any project diva games but always dreamed of it. I know that wont be able to play mix mode, but im not concerned about that i just really want to finally experience project diva

I've been surface-level interested in Hatsune Miku/Vocaloid in general for a few years but this will be my first Hatsune Miku game. First rhythm game too, actually. I've already played the demo and, well. I'm just glad there's a "no fail" mode while I learn how rhythm games work.
You can tell the difference between project diva fans that played the games and ones that doesn’t and it really shows by their opinion on how the characters look
In case you're curious, the colors for the buttons go back to the Super Famicom controller, where X was blue. It still is extremely confusing though, and they could have at least made it look different than PlayStation's X, lol
Mix mode works well when you tilt the joy cons back and front, when they're upright. I never managed the sideways thing but back and forth just work perfectly. Still, that mode really does bug my mind and I'm more of an arcade guy (with Play Station button icons at that).
with the project diva megamix. if you have a custom firmware switch running atmosphere, you can port over all the songs from project diva futuretone(since they use the same engine) and have it on the go on your switch. ofcourse its button mode only. but most songs work with some ExEx songs not working
I has been waiting for Miku game since Switch was released. I was playing project Diva on psp emulator, but my first experience was project Mirai. Maybe that's why I play MegaMix better with letters idk.
Waiting for the western release, but definitely picking it up. Been a Vocaloid fanboy since its inception and am currently in the process of collecting all physical game releases (just missing Project Diva 3rd for PSP and Future Tone JP release), plus I own a switch so this is a no-brainer. I have played Future Tone before on my PS4 and it's kinda pain in the ass to open my TV just to play a game that I'm the only one who understands in my household. When I bought Megamix last february it's kinda good to play a Project Diva game on the go. It's a fun game but some of my favourite songs runs at 30fps and it's kinda sad to see due to the Switch's limitation.
I love the series and all its games. Even the games that dont exist anymore cough* miku flick 02*. It looks like they tried using the layout of project mirai from the 3ds which i like most because of the mini games amd hanging out with the vocaloids.

Love the game. JoyCons are fine for handheld play, but using them on TV mode they're too small to be precise with. I actually recommend getting an 8Bitdo SN30 Pro+ controller for this (not sponsored I swear), have been using it and the D-Pad works wonders for precision here, it's really nice. As for the framerates, they seem to be dependent on Handheld/Docked mode, as well as what modules you use. Handheld mode runs at 30fps far more often. And as an example of modules impacting the framerate, Decorator runs at 30fps in docked mode if you use the recommended Miku module, but if you use everyone in their standard outfits, it'll run at 60fps. I recommend experimenting with modules you feel fit each song, whilst looking for that clean 60fps, because it really does make the experience a tad smoother. As a personal gripe: I'm incredibly annoyed that this, the 10th anniversary game, completely ignores Diva X. An anniversary title like this is supposed to celebrate the entire franchise right? Just feel like that's a huge missed oppertunity.
Hi, Blake “the Nerd.” I love Miku and Luka so this was an absolute must as soon as I found it. I bought a Switch Lite October 8th along with Metroid Dread and Breath of the Wild. I have many games built up, but I don’t know why I bothered getting them… all I ever play on this thing is Project Diva! Same thing has gone for my PS4. Either Project Diva X or Future Tone are playing from that system; and I’m not even good at these games!!! That said, I love having Miku on the go. I never had a Vita and I never knew about Vocaloid when I was playing my PSP or PS3. I never had a 3DS either. So this is really my first time getting into these games and I am loving them. I’m even considering getting a controller for my Switch dedicated to Project Diva. There’s a nice but cheap one for around $70.00. Thinking about it. Anything that’ll help me get better, I’m up for. I just love these games so much and the Switch version is an absolute blast.
When I first saw the ad for mega mix for the switch I wasn’t really excited at first, but then I looked more in depth to the songs it had and then the excitement grew. When the demo was released here in the west I immediately downloaded it and played the two songs it had. I didn’t really enjoy it at first but after the day I played the demo I just found myself going back to it everyday. When the full game released in the west I immediately purchased it and I fell in LOVE with it. For my very first Hatsune Miku game it did NOT disappoint me, and to this day I continue to play it.
I would of gotten future tone on my PS4 but my PS4 is old since I got it a long time ago but I’m going to get MegaMix since I haven’t played a project diva game ever (also the fan on my PS4 is loud and I don’t want my PS4 to suddenly stop working)
Omg I'm so freaking excited- my first Vocaloid game was one of the old iphone rhythm/lyric games that isn't available anymore (sadly) and besides that, I only had Mirai. I really hope that they keep releasing more songs for this but dear lord those packs add up fast.. thats why I pre-ordered the bundle. My joycons are NOT prepared for hard mode+ lmao
Gonna be honest i dont get time to watch the videos so i dont notice if they run at 30 or 60fps as i gotta watch the notes as for the vocaloids to me they look exactly the same as on future tone i cant see the difference you are talking about lol. maybe if i put them side to side i would see it more i guess. either way loving megamix probably has the most songs i like in 1 game than the others. the 3Ds is still my favourite though for a few reasons im sure only would effect me so i wont list.
I've never played a Miku game before even though I enjoy to play a rhythm game from time to time. Just got my imported copy in for the Switch and definitely having a great time! I hope that they keep releasing these game for Nintendo.
I picked up the Japanese physical collectors edition from Playasia when this game came out with the song pass. I'm a huge Miku fan. Owning all of the games that have come out so far. This Switch edition is amazing, I just hope they continue to add more songs to it after the dlc song pack is finished. Alot of times they will add Encore music packs to the game so hopefully Sega hooks us up. I'm always down to buy more content for my favorite series. I even ordered the special Arcade controller for the switch!!!! So I am definitely a dedicated fan.... a solid 10 out of 10 in my opinion.
Got about 2 weeks until it drops on Switch in North America. I'm so unbelievably excited after playing the demo. The joycons work SO WELL for rhythm games. I've been playing a lot of Musynx on them as well. Portable Future Tone is gonna be so lit. I even ordered a Gamo2 K28 last week to bring it all together. Can't. Freakin. Wait.
Glad I’m not the only one who got confused about the buttons! In the demo, I switched to the arrows instead :) I feel it’s far more comfortable since I haven’t played Sony since the original Project Diva and I only recently got a Switch and haven’t learned the music
I believe this game releases May 16th, can be purchased on the e-shop. DLC added/adds songs too I think. Not sure if there will be a physical release. Thank you for the review, I played the demo and timing felt off for the songs there, not to mention the programming on the second half of Arifureta Sekai Seifuku in the demo was just O_O ugh, even with lag adjusted. Looking forward to the full version when it releases
FYI, Sega has extended the deadline to redeem the free dlc codes because of the pandemic. They were supposed to expire in mid May . I don't know the new deadline so if you haven't redeemed your codes yet, better do it now. And touch screen controls for the songs have been added but they are kinda buried deep in the button cong settings and you need to download the update patch for it.
Interesting review. I'm excited about the western release coming soon. I'm really excited. I've been a fan of the series and songs since even before the games where released at all. The first game I played for the project diva series was the first one which I had imported from japan (Funny enough I actually got it the same day the game was released in japan exactly. I find it funny since I was expecting to receive the game like a few day's after it was released in japan, but woot XP). It was challenging at first since I didn't know what anything was saying, but if you know it's quick to go through and find each mode. Or look up the solution online for a menu lol. Though I had a lot of fun playing the game, and excited about this. Though aside from everything your saying which I agree for the most part I was hoping from at least something different. Ever future tone or anything like that they would always include something different gameplay function for each new version. I understand that this is a future tone kind of game, but overall I was hoping that there would be new modes or something different that would make this one stand out a bit more then its previous entry. Though with how things with gameplay function and new content that can be accessible through DLC. It would be interesting if they made one with new game modes and brought the 3DS version side as a DLC option for this game. Or even something new. I hope my thought process on this caught your interest and entertain you :D
I got this game and I’m so glad I did. I love the project diva games so much and knew it had to be on the switch when I saw the controller. Though I prefer to use the joy cons to play this game because there’s no D pad and it’s separate buttons. But iSight recommend!
Bro I absolutely love this game, it’s SO FUN. My only complaint would have to be the finicky nature of tap mode as if your finger gets too close to the bottom of the screen the tap won’t register, but that’s more so a problem with the Switches active surface area and less so with the game
I personally think this is one of the best project diva games with the new art style and how stylish and colorful the menus are, the game even feels nice to play and I haven't had the same great feel with other games like with Mega Mix which is really surprising to me! I'd highly recommend playing this game once the opportunity arises
Only thing i dont like about it being on switch is the Switch controllers do need slightly more force on button presses aside from the softer buttons on Ps controllers. And a main issue with my controller is the d-pad will sometimes rapid press buttons when trying to do double presses. Tried to use the Joycons, but the buttons felt too small and the sticks were in the way just enough to bother me when pushing buttons. Just makes it a bit annoying when playing.
I have the demo and it’s fun but there’s one tiny problem I’m having. It’s the fact that Miku is the only person with alt costume. They could have done the same with the other vocaloid or at least allow custom shirt design for them. Other than that, it’s the fact that there’s only two songs which could bore someone easily, at least get three -four songs in it change the songs to something that someone will continually play (depending on the player)
I was going to get this, but after playing the demo, honestly it just seems like PS4 Future Tone with 95% of the same songs. Which are also mostly the same songs from even earlier games. Like, how many times am I going to play Cat Food, Double Lariat, and SPiCa 39's Giving Day Edition over and over? What's the point of playing through, other than unlocking new songs and modules that are the same as the old songs and modules? The extracurricular stuff seems like it's constantly shrinking. This series feels like it's stuck.
K, this is my first Project Diva game. Got it since a friend recommened me to get one and I love rythem games. Anyways, I looked at the amount of songs being over 100. Not just barely over 100, but a decent amount of at LEAST over 30 over 100. HOW IS THAT A SMALL SONG LIST!?

My main gripe is that there isn’t very much to do besides play the songs. It is a rhythm game at its purest. It’s kind of a letdown for someone who’s coming from Mirai DX due to not owning PlayStation anything.
Disappointed in just one new module, I just play with my ps4 controller because of the 8 bitdo, while future tone will always be the version I choose but this not a bad version to have so I glad I have it, the biggest down side is defiantly the downgrade in songs from future tone and than 50 dollars for 36 future tone songs season pass, seriously i counted it would take 4 36 songs season passes to get future tone full song list, still bought it though, I can’t wait for the mega 39 new songs to come to future tone as a mega 39 is a downgrade but I glad I have it and it’s fun to play for people who only want one console instead of owning multiple consoles or can only afford one console, but if u have a ps4 future tone has had a permanent price drop and the season pass so way more content for way less money than if u just bought mega 39 by itself not including the mega 39 season pass which increase the price way over what u would need to pay for future tone and it’s season pass, also handheld mode sucks because the joy cons are absolute trash compare to the 3ds which when i play project mirai felt way better than playing with the joy con, while the vita is best handheld for rythem games the 3ds layout would have work better than the crap of a joy con that Nintendo created

Saw my suster playing one of these games on the ps5. Said i thought i saw a sale gor this game on the switch. She instantly got it and let me have a go. Absolutely loved it, i use to play GH alot and this actually gives me that feeling of playing gh. They made a fan of me, plus their usic is lit for me.
TBH i didnt really enjoy the game because of how unoriginal it is. I just want an f style game again but i enjoy mix mode but arcade mode sucks with procontroller bc of the dpad being attached. I wouldn’t recommend this game to a people new bc the arcade style is harder than lets say x or f
i bought this game after the western release and I really like it, I just wish there were more songs, and some teto, gumi, or other vocaloid covers/songs not just miku and the gang also just wish there was more content overall, I love the rhythm gameplay but I miss being able to customize a room like in a couple of the 3DS games, and other stuff from the older games but bro it's a good game go play it *dances to catch the wave*
I LOVE Len so fucking much- he's the main reason I love vocaloid but I never got a chance to play the games. I've only heard the songs and watch gameplay. I have a switch and was super excited for this!! But for some reason I forgot about it (thanks to ACNH) but you reminded me this game existed and now I'm gonna buy it! So thanks!! :)
Just want to say I greatly apreciate your insight about the character model's new style, and why exactly they sometime look off. I was getting real sick of peoples just hating on the game's graphism for no apparent reason.
I got the game, and I can agree with a lot of the things in this video! Mix mode hurt my wrists a lot because of having to move the joy cons so frequently, but in case you didn’t know, in the options you can change the sensitivity for it.
My first miku game was Project Mirai DX on the 3DS, and I just got my hands on FT in January (during an online sale--I'd just bought my first playstation console in October 2019). I've been LOVING FT, but I've also been thinking and wishing that I was able to play it on the go like Mirai. And suddenly lo and behold, I find out nearly a year after the announcement that my wishes have come true! Now I just have to live with buying a portable almost-clone of FT. orz still gonna do it tho. ;;
I might be a year late, but I really liked mega mix! Sure the songs you get are ok,but the gameplay is incredible! I never touched the mix mode, but it seems alright. This was my first diva game, and it was definitely worth it!
I don't own any Playstation, so I'm veeery glad they made a Switch game! I've only played Project Mirai so far. I'm so exited for the game to release in two days!^^ By the way, I also think the characters look fine. Not as good as some other games, but fine. And for me, over 100 songs is pretty much. xD (I mean, in Project Mirai there were only 48.)

Ive been playing the Project Diva games since the original on the psp so hearing the news of a switch release i was incredibly excited. Now that ive gotten my hands on it and have played all the songs on hard and back to my extreme maps (where i belong) your review basically shows the things i like in the game as well. I own all the games on all the platforms theyre on but mega 39 is something special for me considering its portability and that it has most of my favorite future tone maps on the go. The controls dont bother me since i use an adapter to connect my ps4 controller and the new style for the vocaloids is something i dont mind. My only issue with the game relates back to your point of how the vocaloids stick out in certain maps. The vocaloids are toon shaded while the stages still look the same as they do in ft, an example i always use is how the bushes behind miku in aikotoba are more detailed then her modules are. The only other issue i have is the removal of so many good songs like knife, two breathes walking, pink moon, end of solitude but thats a personal preference. I do hope the dlc theyre planning isnt just the removed songs readded at a price otherwise id just play ft. Good review either way and good video!
it's all removed songs :( however they're just the packs fresh from release, so it's possible that there will be more in the future, especially with the english release coming this year
@@akemihr yea i saw the leaks when they came a few days ago. Kind of upset at them especially when two breaths walking, a song i was really upset they removed in the first place, being readded. Like i said ill just play ft for those. And you're likely correct about the fresh release theory as the ft dlc packs where spread out over a year and started coming out a couple months post release of that game. If thats the case then I'll gladly buy those along with the DX 2 Electric boogaloo dlc theyll inevitably release after all the packs for mega 39 are out
@@SmauugKamui i honestly feel like they might just release the second half of the future tone stuff as its own game since all they really have to do is port it in and adjust a few things. plus they still have a lot of really good/hyped songs they could add for that. im not really sure what theyre gonna do though
An other issue i've saw in alot of videos is that if u put for example luka in a miku song it will have mikus voice. Is this still an problem??
@@akemimatuyama6871 this happens in all games excepts project mirai, there are only a few songs in future tone that come from mirai in which the vocals change depending on the character (like 1925 or tricolor airline). most of the songs don't have the vocals changed because they would have to make covers of every song and every vocaloid and it would be a tooon of work
I bought it on my switch as my first project diva game. It felt like something that would be great to play on school breaks and on the school bus. But I soon realized it wasn't enough, sooo I bought the ps4 future tone bundle like a week later. My wallet had a sad moment this month.

@@mrcool9090 I only have a switch, so getting half of the songs is fairly frustrating, especially when they offer a couple handful more songs as dlc. Just put everything in the game. The only reason you would need to add dlc is if you couldn't incorporate the songs during the time to create the game, but they did have that time. And after all that it's download only for America. I have a very large SD card but that's a heck of a lot of space to take up. It should have had a physical release considering everyone else got one. And with all the hate it's getting, Sega is gonna think no one wants a Vocaloid game on the switch when the real reason is no one wants Vocaloid lite with added dlc cash grabs on the switch.
I really wanna buy it, I was really hyped, but now that it's out I'm just so disappointed. I can't decide if I should buy the dlc that has some of my fave songs on it (I'm generally just against unnecessary dlc as a whole) or if I should by the base game and try to be satisfied knowing that I'm only getting half the game I expected for the full price of the whole thing. It's scummy.
But people are going to pay just as much or more for less songs, its shitty and lazy of sega. We have a right to be mad
i have megamix, and may i tell you, it’s definitely my favourite game in the Project Diva series
everything from the graphics, gimmicks, etc
but one of my cons for the game is that, yes, there are a lot of songs- but not classics. there are some classics that everyone loved, but the rest of my favourite songs were left out
it sad that in order to play some of my favourites, i need to buy a 35 dollar dlc package. i bought the game on a money crunch and i can’t afford the dlc, but that’s it.

My major gripe with the models is the fact the hair is just too shiny imo, like MEIKO can look really goofy in some PVs, then again I don’t remember much of the models in FT so maybe it’s the same?
Other than that I really dislike the option to pay $15 to unlock everything in the game instead of grinding for it, it just feels gross to me.

Love the game, the new charts are so much fun! The only downfall in the controllers. The Joy Cons are too small for me, yet I prefer them over the D-Pad of Horror, that messed up so many of my almost-perfects

my hands are absolutely tiny and the joycons are too big for my hands. I can't reach the top LR buttons so doing the double slides are a pain.

Vraey Traern Welp, our of the 238 songs from Future Tone and the 120 or so songs from this game, there are basically no new charts. They refused the old ones, they could’ve at least change the notes.
I just got my copy yesterday and it is so much fun!
The only thing I don’t like is not so much about the game, but about the controllers. I have joy-cons and the pro controller, and the joy cons are fine, but they are too small for my hands so I fumble often when playing hard songs, and the pro controller’s size is good, but the D-pad is really bad because of its design. When I play a song with overlapping notes, every time I use the D-pad it always says wrong and its really annoying. So in order to fix this problem, I bought an adapter for the switch that allows me to connect the ps4 DualShock controller to the switch which works extremely well.
I got this game when I was in Japan and honestly I've been playing it non stop, but I do think there should have been more songs from other vocaloids, I'm a Miku fan and I know this game is named after her but damn there where some songs that needed to be in this game and didn't made the cut, and some others that are really not fun and made it so yeah, that's basically my only complaint
i love this game so much, finally in a nintendo console! the only thing I don't like is the dlc. because those are all old songs and I was really expecting new songs.

Okay, I don’t have Megamix, but I just wanted to give my thoughts.
I’ve been a Miku fan ever since 2015, and my first Miku rhythm game was Mirai DX, as so many people’s first game was.
F and F2nd were my second and third game in 2017, and when I play these games, I was wondering if Miku would be on a Nintendo Console again, since it was a while. In 2018, when the switch was out, I was wondering if Miku on the switch would be necessary. And I was hoping that we’d get a new Miku game, as it had been two years since the last one.
But when 2019 arrived, in June, I saw something. A trailer for a Miku game. But, I thought it wasn’t legit. When I saw it was from the SEGA channel, I knew it WAS legit! I watched the trailer, and was shocked to see the Project Diva series was 10 FREAKING YEARS OLD! And when I saw the effects of the game, I was shook. And I saw every single update when there was a new update.
I don’t know about you, I actually would recommend this game to people! I’m definitely buying this when it lands in the West!

Good, unbiased review, Blake. I've been playing the series since game 1 on PSP, so I can confirm that this series is fun as hell. I own all the mainline games and Mirai DX on 3DS. I was super stoked when they announced the game's existence/in development status back in July or so of last year. I preordered the game on day 1 (August 30th, 2019). The only thing I'm disappointed with is not the game itself or its shortcomings, but whenever there'd be a press event stream and the panel would play the game, 4/5 people there would suck royally at the game. It's like, why not give the people on staff at Crypton/SEGA an advance copy of the game to play before making an ass of themselves on a live stream and fail every song they attempt? It was cringe worthy and embarrassing. Anyway, I love MegaMIX and thanks for this video. I'm sure it'll help a lot of people decide to get it or not. P.S. SCREW MIX MODE LMAO. P.P.S the option of the PlayStation face button icons is a GODSEND. THANK YOU SEGA!
Seems alright, I am contemplating getting it but one thing I miss which I can't imagine that many people care about but I liked the dumb interaction with the vocaloids in F 2nd :( I want that back lol

Im gonna get a nintendo switch lite in april for my birthday. After i found out about mega mix, i knew i needed to get it. Ive never played any project diva games but always dreamed of it. I know that wont be able to play mix mode, but im not concerned about that i just really want to finally experience project diva

I've played the free version of future tone and loved it so I'm hyped to get this game, but I'm gonna wait until it comes out in the west.
I've been surface-level interested in Hatsune Miku/Vocaloid in general for a few years but this will be my first Hatsune Miku game. First rhythm game too, actually. I've already played the demo and, well. I'm just glad there's a "no fail" mode while I learn how rhythm games work.
You can tell the difference between project diva fans that played the games and ones that doesn’t and it really shows by their opinion on how the characters look
In case you're curious, the colors for the buttons go back to the Super Famicom controller, where X was blue. It still is extremely confusing though, and they could have at least made it look different than PlayStation's X, lol

I honestly prefer mix mode to arcade mode. The controls feel perfect. I prefer F, F2nd and X to mix mode, tho.
Mix mode works well when you tilt the joy cons back and front, when they're upright. I never managed the sideways thing but back and forth just work perfectly.
Still, that mode really does bug my mind and I'm more of an arcade guy (with Play Station button icons at that).
with the project diva megamix. if you have a custom firmware switch running atmosphere, you can port over all the songs from project diva futuretone(since they use the same engine) and have it on the go on your switch. ofcourse its button mode only. but most songs work with some ExEx songs not working
I has been waiting for Miku game since Switch was released. I was playing project Diva on psp emulator, but my first experience was project Mirai. Maybe that's why I play MegaMix better with letters idk.
Waiting for the western release, but definitely picking it up. Been a Vocaloid fanboy since its inception and am currently in the process of collecting all physical game releases (just missing Project Diva 3rd for PSP and Future Tone JP release), plus I own a switch so this is a no-brainer. Great review.
I have played Future Tone before on my PS4 and it's kinda pain in the ass to open my TV just to play a game that I'm the only one who understands in my household. When I bought Megamix last february it's kinda good to play a Project Diva game on the go. It's a fun game but some of my favourite songs runs at 30fps and it's kinda sad to see due to the Switch's limitation.
I've been interested in Project DIVA for a while, but my family has never owned Playstation consoles, so as a Switch user, this is amazing
I love the series and all its games. Even the games that dont exist anymore cough* miku flick 02*. It looks like they tried using the layout of project mirai from the 3ds which i like most because of the mini games amd hanging out with the vocaloids.
ONLINE MULTIPLAYER would be AMAZING!!!! I keep wishing they would make one so people could play with each other all over the world :3

Love the game. JoyCons are fine for handheld play, but using them on TV mode they're too small to be precise with. I actually recommend getting an 8Bitdo SN30 Pro+ controller for this (not sponsored I swear), have been using it and the D-Pad works wonders for precision here, it's really nice.
As for the framerates, they seem to be dependent on Handheld/Docked mode, as well as what modules you use. Handheld mode runs at 30fps far more often. And as an example of modules impacting the framerate, Decorator runs at 30fps in docked mode if you use the recommended Miku module, but if you use everyone in their standard outfits, it'll run at 60fps. I recommend experimenting with modules you feel fit each song, whilst looking for that clean 60fps, because it really does make the experience a tad smoother.
As a personal gripe: I'm incredibly annoyed that this, the 10th anniversary game, completely ignores Diva X. An anniversary title like this is supposed to celebrate the entire franchise right? Just feel like that's a huge missed oppertunity.

I love Miku and Luka so this was an absolute must as soon as I found it. I bought a Switch Lite October 8th along with Metroid Dread and Breath of the Wild. I have many games built up, but I don’t know why I bothered getting them… all I ever play on this thing is Project Diva!
Same thing has gone for my PS4. Either Project Diva X or Future Tone are playing from that system; and I’m not even good at these games!!!
That said, I love having Miku on the go. I never had a Vita and I never knew about Vocaloid when I was playing my PSP or PS3. I never had a 3DS either. So this is really my first time getting into these games and I am loving them.
I’m even considering getting a controller for my Switch dedicated to Project Diva. There’s a nice but cheap one for around $70.00. Thinking about it.
Anything that’ll help me get better, I’m up for. I just love these games so much and the Switch version is an absolute blast.

When I first saw the ad for mega mix for the switch I wasn’t really excited at first, but then I looked more in depth to the songs it had and then the excitement grew. When the demo was released here in the west I immediately downloaded it and played the two songs it had. I didn’t really enjoy it at first but after the day I played the demo I just found myself going back to it everyday. When the full game released in the west I immediately purchased it and I fell in LOVE with it. For my very first Hatsune Miku game it did NOT disappoint me, and to this day I continue to play it.

Omg I'm so freaking excited- my first Vocaloid game was one of the old iphone rhythm/lyric games that isn't available anymore (sadly) and besides that, I only had Mirai. I really hope that they keep releasing more songs for this but dear lord those packs add up fast.. thats why I pre-ordered the bundle. My joycons are NOT prepared for hard mode+ lmao

Gonna be honest i dont get time to watch the videos so i dont notice if they run at 30 or 60fps as i gotta watch the notes as for the vocaloids to me they look exactly the same as on future tone i cant see the difference you are talking about lol. maybe if i put them side to side i would see it more i guess. either way loving megamix probably has the most songs i like in 1 game than the others. the 3Ds is still my favourite though for a few reasons im sure only would effect me so i wont list.

I picked up the Japanese physical collectors edition from Playasia when this game came out with the song pass. I'm a huge Miku fan. Owning all of the games that have come out so far. This Switch edition is amazing, I just hope they continue to add more songs to it after the dlc song pack is finished. Alot of times they will add Encore music packs to the game so hopefully Sega hooks us up. I'm always down to buy more content for my favorite series. I even ordered the special Arcade controller for the switch!!!! So I am definitely a dedicated fan.... a solid 10 out of 10 in my opinion.

Got about 2 weeks until it drops on Switch in North America. I'm so unbelievably excited after playing the demo. The joycons work SO WELL for rhythm games. I've been playing a lot of Musynx on them as well. Portable Future Tone is gonna be so lit. I even ordered a Gamo2 K28 last week to bring it all together. Can't. Freakin. Wait.

The fact that this has an option for PS buttons is a godsend considering I use a DS4 on my Switch.
Glad I’m not the only one who got confused about the buttons! In the demo, I switched to the arrows instead :) I feel it’s far more comfortable since I haven’t played Sony since the original Project Diva and I only recently got a Switch and haven’t learned the music
I'm hesitant to get this version because of the DLC. And my favorite song, "Age Again", is DLC. Not another game which treats me like a piggy bank. :(

Thank you for the review, I played the demo and timing felt off for the songs there, not to mention the programming on the second half of Arifureta Sekai Seifuku in the demo was just O_O ugh, even with lag adjusted.

That’s strange, I noticed that all videos ran at 60 FPS while docked. The 30fps cap only applies to portable mode in my experience

FYI, Sega has extended the deadline to redeem the free dlc codes because of the pandemic. They were supposed to expire in mid May . I don't know the new deadline so if you haven't redeemed your codes yet, better do it now. And touch screen controls for the songs have been added but they are kinda buried deep in the button cong settings and you need to download the update patch for it.
Interesting review. I'm excited about the western release coming soon. I'm really excited. I've been a fan of the series and songs since even before the games where released at all. The first game I played for the project diva series was the first one which I had imported from japan (Funny enough I actually got it the same day the game was released in japan exactly. I find it funny since I was expecting to receive the game like a few day's after it was released in japan, but woot XP). It was challenging at first since I didn't know what anything was saying, but if you know it's quick to go through and find each mode. Or look up the solution online for a menu lol. Though I had a lot of fun playing the game, and excited about this. Though aside from everything your saying which I agree for the most part I was hoping from at least something different. Ever future tone or anything like that they would always include something different gameplay function for each new version. I understand that this is a future tone kind of game, but overall I was hoping that there would be new modes or something different that would make this one stand out a bit more then its previous entry. Though with how things with gameplay function and new content that can be accessible through DLC. It would be interesting if they made one with new game modes and brought the 3DS version side as a DLC option for this game. Or even something new. I hope my thought process on this caught your interest and entertain you :D
I got this game and I’m so glad I did. I love the project diva games so much and knew it had to be on the switch when I saw the controller. Though I prefer to use the joy cons to play this game because there’s no D pad and it’s separate buttons. But iSight recommend!
Bro I absolutely love this game, it’s SO FUN. My only complaint would have to be the finicky nature of tap mode as if your finger gets too close to the bottom of the screen the tap won’t register, but that’s more so a problem with the Switches active surface area and less so with the game
I personally think this is one of the best project diva games with the new art style and how stylish and colorful the menus are, the game even feels nice to play and I haven't had the same great feel with other games like with Mega Mix which is really surprising to me! I'd highly recommend playing this game once the opportunity arises
Only thing i dont like about it being on switch is the Switch controllers do need slightly more force on button presses aside from the softer buttons on Ps controllers. And a main issue with my controller is the d-pad will sometimes rapid press buttons when trying to do double presses. Tried to use the Joycons, but the buttons felt too small and the sticks were in the way just enough to bother me when pushing buttons. Just makes it a bit annoying when playing.
I have the demo and it’s fun but there’s one tiny problem I’m having. It’s the fact that Miku is the only person with alt costume. They could have done the same with the other vocaloid or at least allow custom shirt design for them. Other than that, it’s the fact that there’s only two songs which could bore someone easily, at least get three -four songs in it change the songs to something that someone will continually play (depending on the player)

I was going to get this, but after playing the demo, honestly it just seems like PS4 Future Tone with 95% of the same songs. Which are also mostly the same songs from even earlier games. Like, how many times am I going to play Cat Food, Double Lariat, and SPiCa 39's Giving Day Edition over and over? What's the point of playing through, other than unlocking new songs and modules that are the same as the old songs and modules? The extracurricular stuff seems like it's constantly shrinking. This series feels like it's stuck.
The first in the main series to not release on a Playstation console in is Future Tone Arcade about 10 years ago.

K, this is my first Project Diva game. Got it since a friend recommened me to get one and I love rythem games. Anyways, I looked at the amount of songs being over 100. Not just barely over 100, but a decent amount of at LEAST over 30 over 100. HOW IS THAT A SMALL SONG LIST!?
future tone is like over 200 so some people just feel a bit put out, but as someone who doesnt have a ps4 yet, this is more than worth it.

My main gripe is that there isn’t very much to do besides play the songs. It is a rhythm game at its purest. It’s kind of a letdown for someone who’s coming from Mirai DX due to not owning PlayStation anything.
Disappointed in just one new module, I just play with my ps4 controller because of the 8 bitdo, while future tone will always be the version I choose but this not a bad version to have so I glad I have it, the biggest down side is defiantly the downgrade in songs from future tone and than 50 dollars for 36 future tone songs season pass, seriously i counted it would take 4 36 songs season passes to get future tone full song list, still bought it though, I can’t wait for the mega 39 new songs to come to future tone as a mega 39 is a downgrade but I glad I have it and it’s fun to play for people who only want one console instead of owning multiple consoles or can only afford one console, but if u have a ps4 future tone has had a permanent price drop and the season pass so way more content for way less money than if u just bought mega 39 by itself not including the mega 39 season pass which increase the price way over what u would need to pay for future tone and it’s season pass, also handheld mode sucks because the joy cons are absolute trash compare to the 3ds which when i play project mirai felt way better than playing with the joy con, while the vita is best handheld for rythem games the 3ds layout would have work better than the crap of a joy con that Nintendo created

I've been playing the western version demo for the past week! As it's my first project diva game! I'm haveing a blast playing it even if.its only two songs
Saw my suster playing one of these games on the ps5. Said i thought i saw a sale gor this game on the switch. She instantly got it and let me have a go. Absolutely loved it, i use to play GH alot and this actually gives me that feeling of playing gh. They made a fan of me, plus their usic is lit for me.
TBH i didnt really enjoy the game because of how unoriginal it is. I just want an f style game again but i enjoy mix mode but arcade mode sucks with procontroller bc of the dpad being attached. I wouldn’t recommend this game to a people new bc the arcade style is harder than lets say x or f
I would wait till these songs transfer to future tone
in europe the release is on 15 may on switch look i your Eshop a Demo is already playble
i bought this game after the western release and I really like it, I just wish there were more songs, and some teto, gumi, or other vocaloid covers/songs not just miku and the gang
also just wish there was more content overall, I love the rhythm gameplay but I miss being able to customize a room like in a couple of the 3DS games, and other stuff from the older games

SEGA doesn't own rights for any non-Crypton vocaloids. They have permission to use Teto's module but they cant use her voice in the game.

i personally really like mix mode! my hand-eye coordination isn't very good, and i'm not good at button mashing, so mix mode is much easier for me.

Just want to say I greatly apreciate your insight about the character model's new style, and why exactly they sometime look off. I was getting real sick of peoples just hating on the game's graphism for no apparent reason.
Can you interact with them like on the 3ds game and decorate their room or play mini games with them???
I got the game, and I can agree with a lot of the things in this video! Mix mode hurt my wrists a lot because of having to move the joy cons so frequently, but in case you didn’t know, in the options you can change the sensitivity for it.
I've gotten many ads for this game shortly after finding out it was coming to the west on May 15th. I can't wait to get it!
My first miku game was Project Mirai DX on the 3DS, and I just got my hands on FT in January (during an online sale--I'd just bought my first playstation console in October 2019). I've been LOVING FT, but I've also been thinking and wishing that I was able to play it on the go like Mirai. And suddenly lo and behold, I find out nearly a year after the announcement that my wishes have come true! Now I just have to live with buying a portable almost-clone of FT. orz still gonna do it tho. ;;

I might be a year late, but I really liked mega mix! Sure the songs you get are ok,but the gameplay is incredible! I never touched the mix mode, but it seems alright. This was my first diva game, and it was definitely worth it!

I don't own any Playstation, so I'm veeery glad they made a Switch game! I've only played Project Mirai so far. I'm so exited for the game to release in two days!^^ By the way, I also think the characters look fine. Not as good as some other games, but fine. And for me, over 100 songs is pretty much. xD (I mean, in Project Mirai there were only 48.)
