This is the perfect series to watch if your fan of Game of Thrones. Season 4 really changed your perspective on who to root for there's a lot more shades of grey.
100% I'm currently working on new videos and this is something I've noted. Game of Thrones lovers will love Attack on Ttitan. I mean they are both dark fantasy but its deeper than that. There's always question brought about upon chatcaters.
Attack on Titan is achieving and executing to some extent what GoT should have. However we know how the last season ended.

@@JustAcritic although sadly I haven't seen game of Thrones (my sister has) I tried to watch it was just too long when I first started and it was based on Medieval Times which I've heard stories about that before however I cannot ignore its cultural relevance and praise. It meant a lot to other people everyone's been trying to find the next Game of Thrones some have found it in the boys TV show others like yourself and me Attack on Titan anime is it.
@@dcmarvelcomicfans9458 Very True. I would recommend Game of Thrones to people since its 6 seasons are amazing but there is a decline and a nose dive in the remaining seasons. The endings are both bad so yeah this takes a lot from GOT
I love how ep 18 of s3, Midnight Sun, The episode of the choice had literally no music for 95% of the episode. The voice acting was insanely great too. Having no music really made it so intense and placed me into the scene

This show is masterpiece because its way of giving off "partial truth" every now and then. And whenever you could come back for the previous episodes, you wouldn't feel cheated... you would feel this "A-ha!" moment, when you realize that whatever someone said, was a hint what would turn out to be important later.
This is simply why I love Attack on Titan, it has absolute detail that makes this perhaps one of the best, if not the best.
Edit: No matter what, I always get this creeping feeling and itch when I see Eren freak out. The actor behind him is so impressive that it never gets tiring to listen to his work.

Season1 when Pixis talked to Eren about humanity always being at war with itself until a common threat forces humanity to unite to defeat it.

The one bad thing about aot is that it sets your expectations astronomically high for any other anime. So now no other anime looks as good as it. 😭
Quarantine did wonders for this show's popularity, and in perfect timing too, as during that same time it's greatest season came out.
16:57 Whilst watching scenes like this, I often find myself doing the scout salute. These speeches are incredibly heartfelt, and make me feel patriotic about a nation that doesn't even exist.
This is just the perfect TV show ever made! I feel like anyone can watch this despite being an anime. This show is just so fantastic and is an original piece of work.

I watched a lot of shows and movies but never liked anime. Attack on Titan was my second anime and I watched it almost a year ago. I actually really liked season 1, but when I got to season 2 it completely blew my mind, I’ve never seen a story this compiling, well thought and carefully crafted to connect all the dots. AOT is the reason why I’m hooked on anime, even though nothing comes close to it. And saw your take about the last chapter on Twitter, some ppl can’t see the beauty of the ending, completely forgot “it’s a cruel world”.

Funnily enough, It was when I realized the “beauty of the ending” that I actually started disliking the ending but other than that the rest of the show was a banger, only behind jojo for me but especially due to that ending
« Nothing comes close to it » that is achingly true. It’s so good that afterwards the rest seems a bit… well, you know. Even in hindsight only AKIRA resists.
You know. The thing I'm thankful for is that AOT didn't drag out the reveal of the armored and colossal titan. I initially thought they would do the reveal in season 3 or 4 but they did it so soon in season 2. Masterful writing there❤
Yeah the quality of this show is just mind blowing. It perfectly illustrated the amount of value that is added by planning out a story (looking at you Disney star wars)

Dude please watch Vinland Saga. It’s my favorite anime. Any AOT fan will likely enjoy it. It is animated by the same studio. It’s all about vikings and it’s super badass. Highly recommended!

I watched it because of a couple of comments including yours and its now one of my favorite series of all time. I am now fully caught up on the manga and looking back at the journey of Thorfinn’s character its easily in my top 5. I can’t wait to see how they adapt season 2. Thank you good sir

Finally! Someone with the balls to speak the unspoken. I'm so tired of pretending that no show ever enters the realm of Breaking Bad and even manages to rival and possibly dethrone it. And tired of AoT being limited to 'the best anime'. AoT, in every way is an adult TV show and it's a damn great one. And with S4P2 so far, it's simply peak storytelling. Honestly, if this was somehow successfully adapted as a live action by the west, it would've ruled the internet. AoT's underrated because people think it's overrated. You've explained every argument I had in my mind for this. As a previous BB fan and ex AoT hater, I testify everything you said. I just watched AoT to shit on it and boy was I up for a rude awakening. And I do not regret that one bit. Isayama is a beast in storytelling....
P.S, I don't know the manga ending but I highly doubt that it'd change my opinion on the show as drastically as GoT....
Where he said it changed from a zombie to political story. Thats when AOT got bad really bad. It didnt setup for that nore did anyone watch it for that. The was a disaster and just ruined a really good series. It was rushed and the author did go back to change the ending for a prequel. Seasons 1-3 goated but after which is just bad
@Abbas what are you talking about? It always had political elements and the height of those elements was in the first half of season 3
@@zm4904 It wasnt the focus or was a balance. The newer season are just mostly talking and alittle action. I and most people like it for the story(the mistery really) and action. After the basement was revealed, the story just went down because the next season went staight into the other side pov. Just felt rushed, mistery was gone and action wasnt prominent. Summary ---------Basically everything about the show ended after they revealed the basement.
@Abbas I think there’s still plenty of mystery and action! However, I consider the 4th season to be the best, so there’s probably not much point in continuing this conversation. Our views likely won’t align.

I'd highly recommend watching True Detective S1, possibly the best season of any TV show period.
Manga finishes Friday and it’s absolutely incredible. Even at this late stage more information is being revealed that gives greater context and different perspectives as well as deeper understanding to scenes from the first episode onwards. An immaculate series that truly stands above all other media created in my opinion. Great video you’ve earned a new subscriber and I’m excited to see what content you’ll make in future:)

Its incredibly flawed. Unexpected in a bad way, and out of character. I have a feeling this youtuber will come to understand the frustration unless the anime ending is changed

He never said you cant enjoy the ending he’s just saying that the original commenter is wrong for accusing critics of 139 of “not understanding.” We are acknowledging there are large flaws in the last chapter such as dropping storylines built up since season 1, which retroactively makes past scenes meaningless. I can enjoy the last chapter personally but only when I ignore all the ways it contradicts the story previously.
There's no message whatsoever behind that shitty ending even Isayama himself apologized.

You definitely have to watch the Legend of the Galactic Heroes OVA. It's kinda like GoT/AoT but with massive space battles and more intense politics. Imagine if Light Yagami and L were on two sides of a massive intergalactic war and you basically have the show. It's a bit old so the animation is lacking but its writing is top notch (9.07 on MAL despite being 1 bombed)
I'd recommend watching the My Conquest is a Sea of Stars & Overture to a New War movies before heading into episode 3 of the main series
Yeah I've heard about that series. It's on my watchlist. One thing about me though is I'm not particularly a fan of sci-fy. I do love the ones that have amazing stories like The Exapanse.

I'll be curious to see how everyone feels about the show when it is animated this winter. I couldn't wait any longer once I finished the latest episodes of season 4, I binged through the manga in about a week (perfect timing since the last chapter ever was just released). My lips are sealed on what happens!
Breaking Bad is still my personal favorite show of all time. I just haven't seen anything come close to it. I'd actually probably round out my top 3 with Utopia (UK version) and Twin Peaks. But Attack on Titan is certainly climbing my personal ranks, and it is undeniably a masterpiece.
You should check out Monster by Naoki Urasawa , it’s also one of the incredible stories out there.
Steins gate is also a fantastic show !
Psycho pass is one you should check out as well !

I watched recently the first season of psycho pass and I must say I loved it! But I heard that the following seasons and movies were not as good as the first, so do you think I should give it a try ?

How to know if a show is truly a masterpiece. Check the no of high rated (9.7+) episodes it has.
Wow AoT has 14+ I believe so and over half the series over 9+, shows how its incredible hitting top-tier consistently as well as hitting the masterpiece level so many times. However this doesnt definitively mean it is the best, it just supports the idea that it is and that it's very plausible to believe it is so. OFC I believe so 😊

AOT is pretty dman good but no amount of shitty collective popular opinions should dictate how good a show is to you. Cowboy bebop doesnt have a single episode over 9.5 but many including myself believe it to be one of the greats.
@@kmn9568 there's always the odd anomaly. I've heard Cowboy Bebop is one of the greats, yet to see it though. The ratings are not 100% proof of a shows quality, they never are. They're just a form of credibility. In AoT's case it's pretty much across every site critic, fan or both that its amongst the top if not the very top. However every show must be analysed by an individual themself.
Also Cowboy Bepop maybe s great for not necessarily having the greatest episodes but being ridiculously consistent when anime wasnt at the time (just a guess).

I don’t agree with the part that Reiners reveal was without a setup. The whole episode was the setup. It was designed as an immensely tense episode and the reveal was meant to be missed by anyone that was not paying close attention. Especially watching it in ones native language, without subs. The lack of music, the quick flashback. The information came in without using the anime tropes until it goes big and they actually transform. One big setup with one big payoff. We all shared Eren’s tears of betrayal seconds before he transforms himself.

We are almost the same person with that opening I almost never hear anyone mention last kingdom it’s nice to see I go 1. Last kingdom 2. Breaking bad 3. Game of thrones for my best of all time and if animes included AOT sneaks in before them

I was in a discussion not long ago about the same idea, that yes it is an anime and technecially cant be compared to regular shows, however, its plots, universe, characters, the moral and philosophical paradox in season 4 and ofc the music is simply unparalleled.
I can easily say it is the best and most complete show I ve seen.

I loved it! Not as good as s3 part 2 but then again that's the best season of tv for me period. S4 part 1 if I was to give it a score woudl be a solid 9.5. The story, directing, cinematography (visual storytelling), pacing and action was perfect.
Looking forward to part 2. Its going to be surpass peak fiction 😂 from what I've seen in the manga.

@@JustAcritic Haven't read the manga and I am going to try as hard as I can to avoid spoilers(although it's pretty hard on TH-cam especially)till then.I agree that season 3 part 2 seems impossible to beat tbh although season 4 part 2 definitely has the potential.My only worry is that because the show has so many amazing characters,it seems near impossible to reach a satisfying conclusion on all of them as well as the overall story.I'm confident that Eren will get an amazing end to his arc(Used to not care about him but he has joined my top 5)and probably Armin & Reiner too but I don't know about the rest.Mikasa has to break free of her DNA restraints,Hange has to grow as a leader,Annie will probably return,Levi(assuming he didn't die)would have to choose a side and for God's Sake My biggest wish is Historia to do anything other than sit there being pregnant lmao.I have faith in Isayama tho

I know not everyone loves the ending, and I have to agree, I don't love it, but I definitely say it is not awful, it doesn't subtract from what came before, except for one small thing that left a bad taste in my mouth, but I digress. Favourite show period.
The anime hasn't ended yet so the show is still a masterpiece...
And yeah I don't love the ending either but I dont think its awful. Let's hope the anime improves the ending so AOT will remain a masterpiece

Some of my friends, and my brother all believe that animation is inherently inferior to live action. I don't care about the medium, I care about how good the story is. I can't for the life of me convince them that beautiful stories can exist regardless of medium. It's a frustrating thing
Attack on Titan is greatest work of fiction in history, I know that is a very arrogant thing to say but I actually can’t comprehend anything being better than this.

Yes, i have seen FMAB, it's so good! That and Attack on Titan are the best anime IMO. If i was to do a ranking, 1st would be AoT, 2nd FMAB and 3rd maybe Hunter X Hunter.
And No I haven't seen any Ghost in the Shell, though it's on my list.

Can we drop this notion that Game of Thrones season 8 was the only bad one? Seasons 5-8 were all awful.

Personally, I wouldn't call season 1 a masterpiece like with the other seasons. Season 1 is by far the weakest of them all as it, imp, suffers from severe pacing issues(between after the Trost Arc and the final confrontation with the female Titan) which might make the viewer loose interest in the show, as it almost did with myself. Thankfully, I kept with the show and have since then been awarded with some of the most entertaining and brilliant media of all time.
True its the weakest but it dont mean its bad. I saw many describe s1 like you. But if you ask me s1 (viewed from a bigger picture) is awesome. S1 try to make you ask the right questions and is a great opener to reach the following seasons. 90% of all viewer who dont like s1 see it in a totally different light when they watched the show once atleast and made a rewatch. But yeah from a standalone point of you i can understand your critique. But never judge a book alone of its cover ;)
The word you constantly looking for in this review is "Recontextualisation". Some other shows I'd recommend around this are Mr. Robot, Vinland Saga, and to a lesser extent, BoJack Horseman

Refering to imdb ratings is not a good way to convince anime haters because they'll just say, and for aot especially that it is just full of fanweebs who don't even think about putting any other than 10 on episode ratings. This ofcource is true BUT it should NOT take it down one bit because the show is absolutely a master piece that cannot be compared to be equal with non other than breaking bad. The there is the big big problem that it is an "anime" and there is no acting but that shouldn't take anything from it but once again anime haters grab a hold of that excuse for their confidence to keep ignoring AOT.
If you loved breaking bad. You will love better call Saul.

Nah JoJo's is better. Maybe half of AOT's episodes reach JoJo's levels of well-written.
I love jojos but if there is one thing that is bad about it, its its writing... nothing makes sense lol. Its still awesome, but jojo lives from its style, action and character. Aot is much better

@@cantinadudes What doesn’t make sense about it? Everything in the plot is derived from someone’s actions before, it’s the only show I’ve seen where no characters act illogically and has no plot holes.

@@468erpeashooter9 idk but some fights are straight up asspulls especially during part 5. Part 3 and 6 also conveniently introduces/forgets powers during fights. The whole way in which some fights are built up is very strange and sometimes it truly feels like an enemy is impossible to beat until some character suddenly has a coin in their nose that they can turn into a handgun which will then be used to shoot a rock on the moon that will somehow negate the powers of the enemy.
Again i love the show, but its written in such a silly way. Maybe nothing makes sense is the wrong wording but its still very weird
