After hearing the rewritten versions of the Attack on Titan finale, I feel the original is the best. Its main issues are the unresolved plotholes. These plotholes undermine the otherwise powerful emotional and thematic impact of the ending. While the rewritten versions attempt to address these gaps, they often stray too far from Isayama’s original vision, losing the essence of what made the story so impactful. The original finale, despite its flaws, captures the complex themes of freedom, sacrifice, and the consequences of cyclical violence, which resonate deeply. If the plotholes had been addressed more effectively, the ending could have been even more satisfying while preserving its profound emotional weight.

Season 2 is just around the corner, on Boxing Day to be precise. My biggest concern: Season 1 has such strong characters, buuut, besides Gi-hun and the Frontman, theyre literally all dead. There's also talks of a Season 3. Will Squid Game be like Skins, where there's a whole new cast of characters every season? (Skins was every 2 seasons, but I digress)

No Requiem is such a shame, because the visual art is magnificent, but the plot is completely separated from that of the original manga. But you know what's more of a shame? That the original final chapter itself is such a treason to the original plot. Eren was from beginning to end all about freedom and compassion for the innocent as was also Ymir, but in the exact last chapter it was all reduced to just "I don't know this or anything, I just wanted to do that" on Eren's side and "Ymir had mental issues" on her side as a way to exclude her from the original plot itself.

Way late to this video but just wanted to say my piece. I disliked the canon ending so much, I stopped watching the anime after Gabi shoots Erens head off. I just couldn't force myself to sit through that again. When i heard of AOTNR, it became the new canon for me. It has its flaws, yes, its not perfect. Just how the canon ending is far from perfect. What grinded my gears the most was that in the end it didn't matter what anyone did anyway. Eren failed to destroy the whole world, and thus Paradis fell in just a few generations. Only for the titan cycle to start all over again. I'm a writer too, and i just couldnt understand how my favorite anime/manga could have ended so horribly in my opinion. I was happy to see like minded individuals share my opinion, and even some years later i still prefer some fan made endings over the canon. Makes me happier, and thats that.

AOT no Requiem shows how much of a failure Isayama is as a writer. The canon ending look like fan fiction lol

5:12 Eren in No Requiem doesn’t see Paradis as different from the others, he literally says “The world doesn’t see it that way, Armin” Clearly pointing out even though he understands, Eldians and everyone else aren’t different, The world won’t ever understand that.

Even to this day, when I cup water in my hands, I think of Dororo's mother holding boiling soup as her hands burn so that her child can eat. Dororo is a classic and a masterpiece and even 5 years after watching it, the emotions I felt watching it the first time still follow me. If you haven't seen Dororo yet, stop what you're doing and go watch it right now.

the most controversial part of this show being the musical set piece is F*ing baffling to me. some people think it's great some didn't think much of it and some think it takes you out of the experience but not to the point of hating it. this show is just that much of an outlier in greatness.

Eren is not made to look "cool" imo. It's logical conclusion of his character. If we put it charitably, original ending "humanized" him way to much, to the point where it completely changed his character (for the worse in my opinion). Original ending also took away his agency, none of his actions mattered because he was puppeted by Ymir. Requiem takes his character to its logical conclusion, he made peace with what has to be done and that there is no other way out of this situation which reinforces theme of "us or them" in the story". We had humanizing moments for Eren, him having doubts as tho the Rumbling being the only way (Outburst during conversation with Hanji), asking for forgiveness at the refugee camp.

i read the book "Silo" a long while ago, i never knew it turned into a series, I always thought it had good potential for a tv adaptetion. btw man you channel is underrated, your script, narration, editing all are top notch, thank you for this great video and keep up the amazing work!! btw whats the name of the song at 43:09?

Samurai Champloo is actually much deeper, but even some Japanese folks might miss it. For example: Jin is not just letting Shina run away on a boat from her husband to nowhere. Getting a divorce for a woman almost impossible back then. But there was a way. Shina is going to monastery for women, if she spends there 3 years without contacts with men she can be free from her husband. So there is hope that 3 years later Jin will come back for her. There is a lot of historical context for things going on.

I dont want Rhaenyra to win tbh. But yeah, she is basically a main character :/
