Thanks! This was very informative. I just got Affinity Designer and had pretty much ignored that persona until now because I didn't know how to use it.
I did sooo many projects on affinity and avoided the Pixel persona due to lack of knowledge. Thank you so much for a really great intro the Pixel Persona.
Thanks! I'm really glad it was helpful! It is on of my favorite features, I love working out my ideas and then switch right to vector, its very convenient.
Excellent demo. Could not find this stuff in AP, and lo and behold, they split it up and put it into Designer. So glad your video popped up in my YT menu. SUBSCRIBED and LIKED. Thanks for making this, looking forward to more of your videos.
The Pixel Persona is the one reason why I obtained Affinity Designer. For a long time, I was looking for a good replacement for Adobe/Macromedia Fireworks. As I updated my computer and even got a new one, it gradually grew more glitchy to the point it stopped working.
Its a major reason I enjoy using the software so much. I love drawing out my designs and be able to quickly switch to vector tools to finish the work. Thanks for the comment!
Thanks for the walk through on using the Pixel Persona! I don't use the Pixel persona too often, mostly when I need to mask something. If I do any type of sketching I use Affinity Photo.
You're welcome, I'm glad you liked it! It is definitely handy for that, I have found it useful myself. I haven't done too much sketching in Photo myself yet.
Great video, I enjoy stuff like this! You explain things really well and the pace is good. Having your comments verbally and in a dialog box is nice touch. I'm looking forward to more of your tutorials on Affinity Designer. Best Wishes, my Friend! Your Friend, Russ
Thank you so much, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'm looking for new ways of making the videos better, so I'd like to add more features like that. Also, thank you so much for the donation, it really means a lot!!
Love the videos so well explained, I am new to affinity and used A. illustrator for years, I would love to see how you do your vector process on top of the pixel layer. Do you have a video on that?
Thanks and glad it has been helpful. Ever since I made the switch I haven't looked back. And all the best learning more about Affinity.
I am new to Affinity Designer. I find this video very informative, I wasn't aware of this feature. It is amazing! I especially like the mirror. Let me ask you, I created a design sketch in the pixel persona and then I switched back over to the vector persona, when I clicked on the design, nothing happened. Do I need to trace over the sketch I made in the pixel layer in order to work on it in the vector persona? Thank you for your great video. I subscribed and hit the notification bell so I will not miss any of your videos.
Thank you, I'm glad you found it helpful! Affinity Designer is a powerful program with lots of potential. And that is one of my favorite features! And yep, you will have to use the pen tool and trace over your sketch in order to make it vector. I have a video that takes you through the process from sketch to vector. th-cam.com/video/OXjviJ7jZVU/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=NJValenteArt and another video that breaks down vector inking a bit more, th-cam.com/video/cPQ59xIXuf0/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=NJValenteArt I hope those offer some clarification. If you have any other questions just let me know. Thanks for your support!
Under File, Document setup, click on the Margins tab, its in the middle of the pop up. Then un-click Include Margins, and that will remove the inner blue square. You can edit a New document in the same way to insure no inner blue box. Hope that helped!
@@njvalenteart I'm back ahaha what you said to get rid of the lines works but when every time I open affinity designer it appears again, how do I keep the blue lines away by default they're so super annoying
@@hellssurprise9338 Hey! I like to create and use my own presets, instead of using the options they give you. That way I can save the preset without margins and have certain file sizes I can easily access. Hope that helps!
For the paint brush tool in Pixel persona you can click on Force Pressure on the top menu next to the More button. Looks like a paint brush and a target. Or you can edit the brush settings by right clicking on it in the brush menu and under dynamics switching Size Jitter to Pressure from the right drop down menu. Hope that helps!

Yes, you can definitely use it for hand lettering. You can set up grids, rulers, and guides to help with hand lettering. I will be making a video that focus on these aspects. Thanks for watching!
Not in the Designer persona unfortunately. However, you can simply vector half of the image, select it all, hold ALT to copy while also holding SHIFT, (to keep the lines even with each other) Then hit Flip Horizontal in the top bar, and line up the other side. You may need to go back to the center where each side connects to clean up the nodes and alignment. I'm working on a video covering this process. But let me know if you have any other questions or need further assistance. Hope it helps!

I created my own preset, 16x20 inches, 300 DPI. You can use whatever size you like. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!

Is it possible to “turn on” pressure sensitivity in pixel persona while sketching with a pencil brush?

What pencil do you think gives the best experience for sketching in Affinity? (I still can’t find a good pencil)
Under Pencils, I use the Natural 4B. Thats the one that works best for me. Let me know if you find a different one you like.
Can I use it for sketching hand lettering just curious, will it be the same process?
