William and Kate meet Ireland's president and Taoiseach on first day of visit

  • It's been eight years since the Queen's historic visit to Ireland - back then she was the first British monarch to do so for 100 years.
    Now her grandson and his wife followed in her footsteps on a trip to celebrate the UK's links with its closest EU neighbour.
    Their deployment on what can only be described as a sensitive assignment speaks volumes about their status in the royal family.

    So proud of our Irish President. A former Mayor, Senator and TD. A published Poet, Author and Sociologist. He is an international award winning human rights activist. A recipient if international Peace awards. He has been a statutory Lecturer and visiting professor at Universities at home and around the world.

      @wonjubhoy 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gingerbaker4390 It comes from the Irish word fianna meaning warriors. In plain English the fenians were pretty much the 19th century version of the IRA. The queen also paid her respects there during the 2011 tour. The Irish for their part paid their own respects to Britain's war dead as well.

      @artist Many moons ago the British tribes use to all fight each other. One day the Christian church called them all together in a big pow wow and basically told them all to stop fighting and swear allegiance to one King. They put aside their differences and did exactly that. Elizabeth II is the 61st monarch of that historic meeting. It doesn't go wrong because it follows a legitimate bloodline. In other words the Monarch takes on the burden so the people don't have too and can live in peace. Hence the expression heavy is the head who wears the crown. It's an enormous responsibility. That's how the British (Men of the covenant) became a Great nation. The Union flag represents all the people's of the British Isles. We are all the same people. We live in a civilised democracy.
      Understand now....
