Prince William and Kate meet Ireland's President and visit the Peace Bell at the Áras | 5 News

► Prince William and Kate began a three-day visit to Ireland by meeting with Ireland's President and Taoiseach.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were greeted by Leo Varadkar and his partner Matt Barrett at the government buildings.
They met with President Michael D Higgins and his wife, before ringing the Peace Bell in the grounds of Áras an Uachtaráin. They were joined on the walk by the President's dog, Brod the Bernese mountain dog.
Afterwards, the Royal couple travelled to Dublin's city centre where they visited the Garden of Remembrance and took part in a wreath laying ceremony.

It’s lovely watching this - classy, charming, understated & elegant. The dog is just adorable & adds some sweet spontaneity to it all. I love them - no drama! God save the Queen & God bless William & Catherine, the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge. You represent the British Royal Family admirably.

William and Catherine are flawless representatives for the UK. She knows exactly where to walk in relation to him, when to shake hands etc. If he folds his hands she is one second behind him. He stands at attention, she is right behind him. They know each other so well, watching them is like watching art in action. They are such wonderful royals!

Kathy Newton. I read your comments, interestingly. I think you need to revisit Harry and Meghan's visit to Ireland. William and Kate have basically copied Harry and Meghan's footsteps. But it is said that "imitation is the highest form of flattery." William and Kate did spend time taking photos, you can see the photographers and hear the cameras clicking and that's ok. But be fair in your assessments. I wish the Cambridges well.
@@mycanos Catherine isn't looking for the cameras like mm does. Yes photos were taken, but she isn't actively looking for a camera.
@@kathynewton9186 There is no argument with me. Harry and Meghan don't seek out cameras as some suppose, or as is reported. You only have to watch their videos to see that photographers follow them. If you have time, with an open mind and open eyes, revisit the Sussexes tours, walkabouts, and engagements. Photographers are everywhere. They are not seeking photographers. Photographers seek them out. Even in London, a low flying helicopter was taking pictures in Harry and Meghan's bedroom at Frogmore Cottage. In Canada, photographers were trespassing on private property to try and get pictures of the couple.
Be fair, Kathy. If you don't like Harry and Meghan that's ok. But don't lie on them and/or accuse them of wanting the spotlight or attention. Both couples are photographed that we agree upon. Go well, Kathy.

Nit because of the cameras filling them but look when ever mm and Harry are somewhere, he may be looking one direction and she's grinning looking right at the cameras, photo op. There's a pic of the four standing together, three aren't smiling and looking to their right, she's smiling looking straight at the camera. She has to have her face front and center. She's not there to entertain the cameras, but is working. She always has to be top and center, it's all about getting her face plastered in the media. That is the sad part. With William and Catherine touched by down in Ireland, you can bet mm will come out with something to over shadow that s tour. But go back and look at other pics of the four. I believe Catherine was wearing something red. There was William, Harry, Catherine, mm. She's looking straight at the camera and smiling. No one else was smiling.

The Garden of Remembrance is a huge deal to us Irish - commemorates the rebels of 1916. For any member of the British Royal Family to go there is a huge deal. The war is over. We have peace.

Exactly. Just look at how much respect the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge showed to Ireland on that trip. I found it endearing to see them playing gaelic football and hurling. They are fantastic ambassadors for the United Kingdom and any bitterness between Britain and Ireland is now in the past. The reconciliation between the 2 countries is now complete.
Those two are so beautiful inside and out. I thought at first Kate had to hold back from buddy yelling, but as the music went on. I couldn't help but shed tears for them. It look like she was holding back too. They are probably worried sick about Harry. Touching. God save our Queen ❤️

The timing of the visit with Britain £1.9T in debt is awkward, aslong as there is no co-operative banking deal between Ireland and the UK i guess the visit will just fizzle out.

I love that the Queen , her Grandfather, King George V, his son George VI were trying to make amends for the centuries of discord in The Republic of Ireland beginning from the damage which was done from (William III to Queen Ann, Gorges I, II, III, IV, William IV, Queen Victoria, Edward VII.), who never gave a damn!! George V wanted to fix "The Troubles but I'm glad to know KG V's descendants are trying to mend old wounds! He loved Ireland and never wanted that special magic to leave The United Kingdom. In fact, George V was FURIOUS at his predecessors that they never did more to both aid and validate The Republic of Ireland.
