I just finished it last night and totally agree with your review. It was good but so predictable. We knew early on she had two powers and who the mole was, and it was just a matter of getting to the end. My other issue was I didn't agree with the morals. If felt like the author was saying the FMC standing up for herself was the bad side and her letting her family take advantage of her was the good side. I have a hard time reading a book when the character's morality doesn't make sense to me.

I think 3 stars is fair. Honestly, I read the Bridge Kingdom books before they got popular, and never understood to hype around them. They were 3 stars too.

I needed this review because I was furious, but you calmed me down and did make me realize there are part I like. But boyyyyy was it a drag, her flip flopping all the time irritated me so much. This is my first Daniel Jensen book tho so I think I should give another a try that’s not a Viking fantasy

Try the bridge kingdom! That’s her other adult series. I love Danielle, but this book had issues for me. I’m hoping book 2 will be better!
