Oh Lord! If she takes 2 years per book and each sister gets a set of 3 books, (Feyre was 1-3) then the novella, then Nesta is 5 - 7, and Elain is 8 - 10 (and assuming she doesn't squeeze more novellas in) ... That's 20 years from now (2023) by the time she's done...I will be 59! Good God!!! (AND that's not accounting for her also writing Crescent City books 3 & 4 in between there, which could also delay the rest of ACOTAR.) I could be dead before it's finished! 😱

    That's quite helpful thx!
I'm reading Acotar first, its premise was more interesting to me. That and a friend told me he dropped ToG series in book 5, which is exactly where you're up to! So I'm a bit worried now haha.
I bought Crescent City book 1 but don't plan to start it until after Acotar and The Last Hours.

    No 😭
I’ve just finished ACOTAR series and I feel like I’m hungover and tried reading a stand-alone book and another romance series and I can’t seem to her that SJM hit… I was going to start crescent city, but then thought TOG but now I feel I still won’t get that hit 😅😅😅
I need more Cassian, Rhysand, Azriel and controversial but I hope she writes a book about Tamlin, I think he’s so misunderstood and it broke my heart 😭

@@eshagoel6698yes! I can’t stand the hate Tamlin gets. He loved Feyre, he had ptsd and didn’t know how to help her or himself. He deserved so much better. I really hope that at some point he gets a happy ending.

Great advice! I’m going to trust you partially, LOL. I will read ACOTAR and then Crescent City. I’ve definitely been impacted by the FOMO you mention of ACOTAR. Mostly it’s because one of my daughters is holding her breath until I get my eyeballs into ACOTAR, so I am going to follow her lead. Maybe I will never read TOG? I have so MANY MANY books in my TBR. After I tackle a few score of those, I will decide if I come back to TOG. Thank you! I’m so glad to find you.

@@TheFunSizeReader and I’m halfway through, loving the connection to an age old fairytale thus far, my imagination trying to figure out how this story will continue and continue through many books. I’m treasuring that there will never be a first time again for this series.

I honestly hadn't heard of SJM until a FB group I am in was raving aboit ACOTAR. As an older, longtime reader I looked at SJM books and read the blurbs and actually chose TOG first! I love SciFi Fantasy and liked the story of TOG. But I also read all the Dune (Frank Herbert) books, so long story development doesn't turn me away. I loved TOG and have bought ACOTAR. I encourage you to finish TOG. The payoff is worth it! I cried several times in the last 400 pages of Kingdom of Ash. I am sad we won't see more about how this story evolves into the "Better World" Aelin promises. But we did get our happy ending. I am late to the SJM fandom. Onwards to ACOTAR, Then Crescent City.

I agree TOG 1st then ACOTAR. I was not aware of TOG and was very new to SJM books. TOG was gifted to me. I am reading TOG now.

I started with Throne of Glass... let me clarify that I love a good romance...and this wasn't it. I DNF'd it because I was bored. Crescent City was next for me and I did not like this at all... I really detested the language. ACOTAR is AMAZING and I'm hooked! I went into it thinking there was no way I would like it- I must not be a Sarah J Maas person- but LOVED it!!! Her other books are so different. Typically authors don't write like a completely different author in their books- but then there's Sarah I guess : )

Honestly if you skip Tower Of Dawn you’ll miss a lot of what is important going into Kingdom Of Ash. I don’t know what kind of experience those people are getting with the final book🤷🏻‍♀️

I had the opposite of what you said happen to me, I read the throne of glass series first and then read ACOTAR and it was just meh to me compared throne of glass. I mean I liked it and it filled a hole after reading TOG, but ACOTAR to me was dull in comparison. I wish I had read ACOTAR first and TOG after it. Crescent city on the other hand HAS to be read after reading both TOG and ACOTAR. You literally cant read it before reading them because...well...those that have read the second book know what I'm talking about.

  • @EmmaBiteMe

When I started SJM I started with Throne of Glass, because it came out first. I started before Heir of Fire was out. So The series alternate years coming out.

I started on creasent city and fell in love with it I’m about 200 pages into book 2

I think there are parts that would be more meaningful if you were exposed to Sarah’s other works first. I know how much it sucks to stop part way but you’ll get back to it if you decide to pause for now! I personally would never advise reading CC first. Hope that helps!! I’m so sorry 😅😅

Hi! I’m also trying to get back into reading again, and of course have the all the current ACOTAR books ready for me to read😅 Are all 3 series connected? Like what if I only read the ACOTAR/Crescent City series and never read the ToG series? Will I always be missing info and have a hard time understanding ACOTAR/CC, or are they not connected to one another enough? I’m worried I might not like ToG a whole lot, but if I need to read it to fully understand the other 2 then I will lol

    • @TheFunSizeReader
      @TheFunSizeReader  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Fun fact, I still have not finished and don’t really plan to finish ToG. They are connected (so I’ve heard) but I still love and appreciate Sarah’s books without ToG. It just isn’t a series for me, but I LOVE the other two. So imo you’ll be fine!

If you skip tower of dawn you miss so much and please hold off on the judgment of throne of glass till you read the last book. She started those when she was young and her writing progressed amazingly as she went. Kingdom of fire is where everything just mind blows you. Yes it’s slower but that last book is where it is. She is a talented writer to be able to combine each very unique writing styles and still link them
    All together. 🩵
