    ⚠ *Important Notice!* ⚠
    ⚪ Get BMI160 instead of MPU6050!
    They drift significantly less, at the same price, and are the recommended option!
    ⚪ Tracking has improved since this video, as I was affected by a bug that introduced slight delay and jitter

    • @Doile911
      @Doile911 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Can confirm, used bmi160 for months now, they are awesome, you can now have prediction for basic movements and smoothing for dancing. AND yes i put my trackers in the fridge (temperature calibration optional for bmi160 check the wiki if you don't believe me), and it improved the already little drifting problem, so i recommend you do it as well.

    • @logono9414

      if I use BMI 160 How long is the longest time you can go would say before you have to do a reset

      @Aezeus.  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@logono9414 iirc most people go about 25 minutes on average, but it depends on what you're doing. If you're sitting completely still, you could probably get passable result for upwards of an hour using drift compensation.

    Non-base station FBT is looking better and better every year. SlimeVR along with HaritoraX and Stonx all look really good, though it’s unfortunate that all three still can’t be purchased and received within a few weeks unless you make your own.

    • @AzeShorts
      @AzeShorts ปีที่แล้ว +15

      They all use the same chips affected by chip shortage unfortunately. I'd suggest steering clear from HaritoraX or Mocopi.
      Both SlimeVR and StonX are good however

      @@AzeShorts I’ve already pre-ordered the HaritoraX 1.1 and I’m satisfied with HaritoraX’s performance in general. I only picked it due to it shipping the soonest. I’ll likely replace it near the end of the year when SlimeVR/Stonx might be more readily available though.

    hey just to let you know for the IMU you really should buy the BMI160's as they are around the same price and ALOT better than the MPU6050 (main difference being the time before having to recalibrate is alot longer for the BMI160s which is very good)

    • @Aezeus.
      @Aezeus.  ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Good thing you mention that. Although the reset time isn't the "Main" difference. It's the ENTIRE difference as tracking quality is same-same.
      But 10-20m reset is loads better than 5-10, so I advise *EVERYONE* to go with BMI160's instead of MPU6050's!

    I personally built 5+3 set of bmi 160 slime trackers and I 100% think it is worth it. the value incentive is just unmatched compared to vive trackers as those just straight up are not an option price wise for me. one question i have, do these transmit their own connection, or do they require you to have good wifi and go through that

    • @Aezeus.
      @Aezeus.  ปีที่แล้ว

      They require you to have a 2.4GHz wifi connection. Internet speeds don't matter at all, and data bandwidth needed is low because they're just sending a bunch of numbers over the connection.
      What matters however is low latency and good signal between you and the router

      Yeah it'll work fine. I'm a VR noob but am interested in mocap.
    SlimeVR does not require a typical base station, but still requires a headset, right? (and controllers?) Any way to avoid this? Or any suggestions for a cheap headset to get slime going, knowing that I wouldn't actually use it for VR stuff?
    This is super exciting...!! Real-time mocap, and way better than Kinects. And since it's open-source I could maybe code a way to stream the data into 3D software. so dope

      SlimeVR has come a long way; don't need a headset anymore, and the server can now output VMC so you can use the VMC4B plugin for Blender to stream tracker data for mocap. Made myself a set of 17. I'm pretty happy after initial tests, and I haven't even messed with the body proportions yet!

    What is the biggest disadvantage you can find with these trackers?

    • @Aezeus.
      @Aezeus.  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Great question. In my case due to my set being made with very cheap IMUs, I have to correct drift every 5-20 minutes as shown in the video. (This isn't an issue with official slimes or better IMUs)
      It's not horrible, but definitely not as convenient being able to set them and forget them.
      Next disadvantage which is rapidly becoming non-existent towards release is:
      To get accurate tracking, the body proportions set in Slime need to be correct. The current auto calibration is good but not perfect, there's a bit of tinkering with settings.
      Despite the downsides, I do think the upsides speak for themselves. 30h battery life, 130$ for 11 point.
      Way better than I expected it to be, and I have no regretd

    Isn't having to undrift every 5 minutes annoying enough to warrant a slightly higher cost?

    • @Aezeus.
      @Aezeus.  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      At the time of buying the only other option was using BNOs which are x25 times as expensive. But nowadays BMI160s which barely cost much more are a better bet for sure

      @Aezeus.  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      "x point tracking" is how many tracking points (including headset and controllers) you end up with.

    • @jan_Sanku
      @jan_Sanku ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Aezeus. right i understand that. you already have 3 without fbt, but 7+3 is 10, so how is the result 11?

    • @Aezeus.
      @Aezeus.  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@jan_Sanku The tracking points you get isn't the same as the amount of trackers. Slime tracks position by taking the rotation of two points, and the length of the limb in between them to estimate the positions of the two points. With a 7 + 3 set you have trackers on:
      Elbows, Chest, Waist, Knees, Ankles, Feet.
      1x head
      2x hands
      2x elbow points
      1x chest + 1x waist
      2x knees
      2x feet
      = 11 points
