Why You Should NOT buy Mocopi for VRChat!
The purpose of this video is to spread awareness about the truth related what's currently going on with Mocopi on TH-cam.
I find it important to exclaim that the purpose of this video is NOT to stir up any drama, but to make shine light on the truth so you can hopefully avoid spending half a grand on something you'd have no idea is a bad product.
Corporations have funding and sponsorships, but all we VR users who just want something worth our time and money just have each other.
Instead of getting Mocopi for VR, get:
SlimeVR (The best and cheap, you can even use old phones 190$)
HaritoraX (Kinda jank, but if it's all you can get... 270$)
Kinect (Literally just cheap, a bit jank, but worth way more than 10$)
Pinosoft (Phone app, should be better than nothing but not magic)
And finally, Vive/Tundra trackers (if you require sub-millimeter precision 800$ ish)

1:25 this doesn't work
Hey could you tell me how to use fbt with kinect 360 ?
K2VR.Tech
@Aezeus. Thx
how can i move into the floor, but with my entire body? whenever I do it just makes me sit.
You either need full body tracking, or an avatar with gogoloco where you can freeze the avatar animations. Otherwise it will always animate and sit down
@Aezeus. thats so helpful! thanks!
i hate uytubers
How does this work with VRChat now? Things have changed and there's no longer a space drag option.
Works the same as it used to, except that OVR Space drag now costs money if you didn't already have it
i just bought this yesterday, help.
At least it's better these days with slimevr, but cancel your order if possible
@Aezeus. nope, mocopi is abs ass when i tried it even with slimevr
Oh well. My suspicions were correct. It's so stupid when people comment about "uhh uhh they added SlimeVR support so it's fixed now" And it turns out it's just another sad mess
@Aezeus. when i tried the offiocal app, my ankles at least didn't stutter and i could lay down, but the delay is crazy and the calibration is ass tbh, the delay was about 2 seconds, i have ether and literally the best wifi you could get today, i couldn't get the wired connection to work, so i used wireless.
8 euros for a playspace drag? o just bought the toolkit for 12, why dont they include it in that?
Because it's two different programs. OVR just stands for "Open VR", one is advanced settings, and another is a toolkit
sadly it cost now
i bought them there ok but im geting vives they were not the best i had to recalibrate ev 2mins
2:50 My fav part
Runte Estate
the option doesn't even show up
What is this for? Can it be used to cheat in games?
my space drag reset by it self and I been trying to fix it for weeks and idk what it is after so many videos, any advice?
They got better cause they are compatible with slime vr and to improve it even more you use the head strap as a chest cause u don’t need a head tracker and use the wrist trackers for thighs cause u have controllers
My space drag binding doesn't even appear in the settings, not quite sure what's going on. I set my motion settings the same to yours as well.
Late response but maybe I can help people encountering the same issue. When you set the binding choose button then select click and you should be able to set it to space drag.
I followed the guide thoroughly but for some reason it still won’t work. I wonder if maybe there’s a setting somewhere I have on that’s preventing me from using it but I have no clue 😢
Space drag does not turn on period for me in settigns even after following all of this
thanks u just save my money
I cancelled my SlimeVR order because I waited 2 years for them! I might order some again if they sort out the delivery time. Mocopi are nice and small though.
Mocopi is now supported by slime vr
thank you man, life saver
Do you need a PC for this?
Yes
I don’t have one
i am so glad i got an xbox 360 now ima buy a new kinnect
@1:57 Its required under FTC guidelines and TH-cams policy to disclose any sponsorship. However it has alot of gray area and something as little as a like notation barried deep in the video description is enough or simply saying "Brand A sent me product B" at the start of a video is enough to get by.. But yeah its problematic across youtube/twitch and really needs to be cracked down on.
It is required, but that unfortunately isn't the end of the story. A lot of undisclosed sponsorships happen, especially in cases where a company tries to save their reputation with a certain product.
@@Aezeus. im sure their is plenty of non-disclosure going on, but like i said there is alot of legal gray and the FCC rarely enforces it. Its a issue they should be cracking down on but probably wont. Thankfully i just made my own IMU's, still alot of drifting jank as with any other but its amazing how cheap you make things piece milling sales parts off aliexpress. plus the builds were half the fun.
W video
thanks it worked
Yo dude btw they fixed the bad tracking
as of 2/10/2024 Yeah it's horrible. Wasted 5 hours trying to get it to work
Thank you! This was very helpful. Had fun in Job Simulator as you cant move there, found some out of bounds stuff and just had fun!
People are retracting their statements because some greedy little youtube brat is getting paid to lie through their teeth. Understand?
As this is all informative and some-what speculation towards other tubers I would suggest doing a genuine review yourself. You are able to return the item if it is not to your liking. 😶🌫
You can go ask around, or read the comments on actual user experiences. They are still kind of dogshit for VR tracking. I still receive comments or bump into people who bought them even to use them with slimevr. Mainly about setup that doesn't work, high latency and drift. I personally am not interested in putting my own time and money into calling out an inadequate piece of hardware, but I will certainly make people think twice before falling for the hype.
it didnt work. does it depend what device ur using side note:(im on quest 3)
It should work on the Quest 3 as well, you may just have to bind a different button since the controllers are different
This is nothing new, this is what Sony does most of the time
I own them and here is my experience: DO NOT BUY THEM UNLESS YOU ARE GOING TO USE IT FOR VTUBING OR RECORDING MOVEMENTS FOR ANINATION PURPOSES!!! They are well recorded and easy setup with the app along with just a tao and can easily reset to the original position. But because the phone itself doesn't have great processing or bluetooth connection, along with magnets being the way to connect them that is actually blocking or disconnecting connections, it cause latency and performance issues when going through OSC. Even with very well wifi, one or two trackers disconnects if you move too far from the phone. You also can't even sit down since there is no trscking for the knees and it will be a strange look when going to sit down. Now, instead of improving the tracking on the ohone that actually can't handle so much already, they should develop a PC version or even get in touch with Slimevr to connect the trackers to the application that has better connects, wifi, and latency than the phone itself. But the issue can still happen because of the magnets used, but it will be way better tracking for its 450 price tag. So my rating of it the Mocopi: 3/10. As I only use it to make movements that I want to animate.
UPDATE: Mocopi now uses SlimeVR. It's that good now. Expensive? Sure. Premium. Sure.
Well, yesn't. You can connect it to SlimeVR, but allegedly the integration is poor, and you still suffer from mocopi latency and drift being on par with using joycons (which is about as poor a slimevr experience as you can get) but that is admittedly far better than sony's solution
1:56 This is not true. That’ll be agents FTC guidelines. If this is a sponsor video. They have to mention their video was sponsored by a company brand. Not mentioning a video as a sponsor video will mislead viewers thinking it’s not a paid review video. Before you ask. A TH-camr saying “this video is not a sponsor” is just an option (not required). Most TH-camrs I know wants to say “it’s not a sponsor video” in their review video. It’s because they don’t want their viewers thinking this is a paid sponsor video because they have work with other sponsor brands before in past videos. But saying “this is a sponsor video” is required. Also, TH-camrs are not allowed to titled their video as a Review Product video if they’re being sponsored by a company brand for a video. For example, if Nintendo send me a Nintendo Switch and Nintendo is paying me to do a video of Nintendo Switch. I can’t call it a review. Because, it’s not my opinion. But a company brand deal video. I’m not saying your video is bad. I just wanna put out letting you know your information could be misleading. People make mistakes and we are not perfect.
In hindsight I should have specified that they *can* circumvent these rules, and it happens all the time over youtube, rather than saying it as if it is allowed, because you're right, it is not. But it happens all the time.
What is the current state after software updates have been rolled out?
It is better, not nearly as jank as the clips I've showcased. But, it is still suffers pretty terrible accuracy once you do anything outside of walking around. If you check out thrillseekers vid on slimevr, he has a clip in there of how all the latest IMU tracking methods work, that's pretty good for seeing how it is nowadays
na I call bs on that kinect what witch craft did you do to make that so smooth especially when you layed down I have a kinect as my tracker and that sht sucks you barely move and your leg starts having a fking seizure like its a freshman on their 19th starbucks coffee (but genuinly tho how did you fking do it how is it so smooth on yours like how high did you put it and far away)
Are you using Driver4VR or KinectToVR? Then that makes sense. The witchcraft is using Amethyst and having a wide empty room so it knows what it's looking at
yea im using amythest and I got a pretty good sized room and everything but idk
Kinect def isn't magic. I'm not gonna lie to you it can be glitchy. It looking good is almost entirely dependent on you knowing the limits and knowing how to move to make it track good. But once you "move with the tracking" it can create some witchcraft looking results. Make sure the kinect is positioned up high, shoulder to head level and pointing down so it can see your whole body. Positioning and distance made all the difference for me. There's this sweetspot around 3 meters away from it where it tracks really good.
Thanks for this video. I’ve been researching trackers and when I saw the mocopi review videos I was really confused on why they were praising it so much when it clearly looked horrible. Thanks for the honest review
do u need fbt to [hase
No
u saved me money lol

@@Aezeus. NOW THAT THERES AN UPDATE WITH THEM WOULD YOU SAY ITS WORTH BUYING NOW?
@@DIZZY-xl9hx Not in the slightest. They're like very expensive SlimeVR joycons now
Vid is a little dated tracking has gotten better and latancy has been reduced
It has improved from being completely unusable, to being "okay", that's true. However it's still not a good solution unless you've got enough money not to care, but at that point, get them vives or tundras! You can get second hand sets of basestations and vivetrackers for around the same price as mocopi, so if you're not on standalone, there's actually no point.
This is all valid criticism and I welcome it completely. The only thing to keep in mind is that all IMU solutions are actively in development and constantly improving. Since your video released, Sony has made several software improvements that correct a lot of what has been seen here and all based on user feedback. There are additional improvements coming as well very soon and I will be putting out another video to update everyone on the progress of Mocopi. There is no bias here either, I have Slime Trackers currently in the mail on the way to me now and plan to put out a SlimeVR review video no different than what I've done with Mocopi. I'm really excited to see where IMU tracking goes, its one of the newest technologies in the VR space and has lots of room to grow and improve. All IMU manufacturers should be commended on their continued commitment to improve these products even after purchase. In my opinion, the biggest winners here are standalone VR users like Quest and Pico who now have great full body solutions that don’t require big expensive gaming PCs, dedicated VR spaces or expensive VR Base Stations. But there will always be draw backs with IMU and I clearly state that in my videos. It is a cheaper solution so performance reflects as such. Vive and Tundra will always give the best experience but at a significantly higher price.
Even with the improvements, there's a lot of glaring issues that make it downright bad for most users. The one aspect with Sony's IMU solution differs from the others, is that they ran a rather scummy marketing campaign. Suddenly youtube is full of people either reading off the exact same script, or overhyping / undermining the very obvious downsides and turn offs. I can't speak much for your case when it comes to sponsorships. However, your video had a lot of people excited for something, without much emphasis on the fact that buying this thing for 450$ and expecting it to do anything "well" is a mistake, instead playing on scripted general statements like "This is a good solution for content creators and casual vr enjoyers alike". Which at the time that video was made, was very not the case. At the end of the day, this is a why a video like mine exists. That's what happens when something gets overhyped. It's not a nuanced documentary on the benefits for us consumers that multiple IMU solutions are rapidly improving, but a correction to a bunch of unwarranted hype. I hope Sony improves, but they certainly don't deserve any kind of special attention for making what is at best "okay" IMU tracking that took many updates to accomplish.
This is the video I was looking for... because the other VR content generators only talk good shit about anything they get for free except for the typical "it is hard to setup" kind of comment. Sadly I cancelled my SlimeVR this december cuz I was waiting for a whole year already, I'm looking for other solutions, I have no idea how uni motion vr might work
This is why I just got vive trackers
Got it all set up but the mover only works in VR home. Goes back to default binding when I go into a game. Rip
You could try opening the game and seeing which controllers show up when you open bindings for that game. Maybe the game is detecting your controllers as being a different model than how they were set in OVRAS (Example, Game defaults to Rift CV1 touch controllers, OVRAS sees quest 2 controllers) If that is the case you could try within the binding options for OVRAS space drag, find the option to switch controller type in the top corner and configure it for the controller type that's in the games bindings. Not sure if that is the issue, it's a wild guess.
@@Aezeus. Well, when I open the bindings for any app that isn't OVRAS, all I get are "Legacy bindings". I haven't used OVR in almost 2 years, but I don't remember this being an issue before. I would assume some things were changed with some of the updates it's had during that time. I use Oculus Touch, but I'll try setting the controller type to something else just to satisfy curiosity.
@@Aezeus. I'll give it a shot next time I do anything in VR.
There's a lot of people on twitter also putting down slime due to the shipping times. which I get but also they do seem to be catching up slowly.
Too late.. bought them... Cuz i couldn't wait for my slimes...
Well, they'll work, but, if you're waiting already, I'd really suggest grabbing at least a haritora x. Alternatively there's a lot of cheaper "DIY" options like kinect, apritags and psmove. They can last you a long time and get your legs moving while waiting for better options. I used a kinect for almost a year! Wasn't slime, doesn't come close, but I had legs! Spend your money as you wish of course, but mocopi is, eh.....
Very handy video - straight to the point - Thank you
