Who can afford thousands of dollars for feline dental surgery? The escalation of the costs of veterinary services is due to the takeover of veterinary clinics by private equity and it has to stop. The expansion of services by Flatbush Cats is wonderful news; it will alleviate so much suffering. Thank you, Flatbush, for stepping up and offering an alternative to the greed that has come to pervade veterinary clinics owned and managed by private equity. You are heroes!
Tooth and mouth pain is awful, I know from experience. I will donate again for this old dude who has been quietly suffering😢 thankyou all for your work.❤
My cat had 3 tooth extractions and is doing so much better now. It's really expensive but such a great service that help save lives. She was also an outdoor stray cat that adopted me and is strictly an indoor cat now.
Can relate to the volunteer who felt relief when Tartan entered the carrier! Cancer treatment for cats is another big one. We are currently going through that with our Tabby, Leo, who is also diabetic. So his meds and insulin amounts need to be closely monitored. And the costs, we are fortunate to be able to give Leo the care he needs. Keep up the good work, Flatbush Cats Volunteers and Veterinarians 🐈
Thank you for saving his life! People don't realize how important dental care for both cats and dogs is. Dental disease can cause so many terrible health issues in our pets. Thank you for bringing awareness to this issue. Love from Texas ❤
Proper dental care gave my adopted as a senior kitty SO much more energy and quality of life. It is also a bonus that her breath no longer stinks so we do more snuggling too! It is expensive, over 800$ plus the mandatory labs first to make sure she could handle the anethesia. She is 17 now but you wouldn't know it based on her activity levels. Most vet practices are corporate owned but there are still some independents that might do paments, sliding scale or trade.
They look so grateful! I recently had just ONE extracted, and the hole seems to be taking ages to heal. I keep worrying about food getting stuck inside and .... but to get 16 extracted, well, it must be very traumatic. Thank you guys for the work you do. Many thanks also to those who help. Have a good Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year. ❤❤❤❤❤
The curse of stomatitis! One of my cats had a dental, cost $1,000. Another needs many teeth extracted, estimate is $2,000, will be done after Christmas. I'm very very lucky to be able to afford it.
My vet is wonderful. He practices in the country, and is not money motivated. He did the following: full dental including anesthesia, urine test, antibiotics, new special diet food, boarding two days and nights, all for $318.00. It's inexcusable and completely unnecessary for vets to charge as much as they do.
@@donnabaardsen5372 Unfortunately, vet clinics have been getting bought up by outside corporations who then under-serve and over-charge in order to squeeze every penny they can out of every client they have. They often hide behind the existing clinic name as well, to make it hard to find out that they've been bought out.
Awww poor boy. My boy Sephiroth has gum issues too, and his poor breath always smells so bad. I never even knew that was a thing for cats until I adopted him
I rescued a senior cat just like this boy. Totally emashiated from painful gum disease. He had a full mouth extraction and became happy and plump. He lived 4 years in total peace and love ❤ RIP Sweet Willy 🙏
Just sent $12 (£10) via PayPal as extra as am already a monthly supporter via PayPal. Dental work on cats is excruciatingly expensive here in the UK, having spent £750 not including consultations this year on a 13yr+ neighbours cat to help with cost of living here in the UK. This was the cheapest vet and the best quality stand alone vet with no corporate interference in price, been around decades! Totally support this move to get dental work done. Will send more when next paid. 🐈⬛🐾💯 Great work Flatbush! A privilege to support you!
My first cat had severe tooth and gum disease like this poor old man. We got all but 7 teeth removed, and while heart failure took her far too soon, she was able to eat to her heart's content again... though she never got over trauma from the pain of trying to eat hard food with rotting teeth, and would refuse anything that even looked like hard chunks until her dying day.
Your vision for the future is so inspiring! Ordinary pet owners deserve affordable options, so we can provide our pets with long healthy lives. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO SUPPORTS FLATBUSH CATS!!💖💖💖
I rescued an old street cat from my neighborhood who had dental issues and couldn’t eat at all. Flatbush veterinary clinic couldn’t treat him but gave me a list of clinics where I can reach out for help. The veterinarian was sincerely wanting to help but back then there was no dental service in Flatbush clinic . I am glad to hear that Flatbush will have dental service coming up soon.

I absolutely love the work you guys do. I really want to donate again, but unfortunately there is no longer an option to pay with Paypal or Ideal. Could you please make these options available again so that people around the world can help you guys. Much love from the Netherlands.
I'm paying via PayPal - contact them find out what's going on. The only aggro I get from them is when I want to increase the monthly debit, don't know why they can't manage it!!
I don't understand why PayPal doesn't work as I've been using them and still pay monthly donations using them, is it recent that they've stopped it, have you contacted them to ask why?

My Valjean chased after me when he turned down my car food. I came back the next day and took him home. Next week we’ll celebrate his 7th Cattiversary with me. (He was estimated at 5 years when I got him). Initially I treated his stomatitis with meds (my small town vet didn’t do dental). He’d have flare-ups. In 2020 we drove to 전안 (about an hour away). Now he just has his 4 fangs, but no more pain, no more flare-ups. This year his sister needed 6 teeth removed, even though she’s always been a house cat. During COVID, I s look so paid for full extractions for a cat at the local colony- an old lady (vets put her at 7, despite he looking much older), Grizabella. She was so stinky and matted that she let me wash her before we went to the vet. I’d already found an adopter for her. Grizzy passed away this year. She had lived in Seoul and spent her last year in the USA. Her mom sent me pictures. Her heath had improved so much- she groomed and played- but sadly she succumbed to fast onset diabetes. Her last 3+ years were spent living well, though. Each of the dentals I mentioned cost about $1,000. I could afford a colony cat because during COVID I didn’t travel or spend much. Now, well, I have money aside for my cats- all 3 will be 12 this year- but for street cats there aren’t many good options! I love your stories and your mission!
This is so important. I'm on the verge of a dental for one of my cats and another for my dog. They are SO expensive., I wish we had an affordable option in my area.
Back in the '90s when I used to live in New York I used to go around feeding all the neighborhood cats. All my neighbors would call me the cat lady and dump cats at my front door! 🚪🙀😸😺😇

Absolutely.. private equity in the health fields is such a ghoulish thing.
It’s getting so that regular middle-class people can’t afford to own pets. It’s very, very sad and it shouldn’t be this way 🤦♀️
The pure joy she expressed when she got him into the crate was plapable, I'm happy this old man has people who want him to be healthy
Made me tear up.
Tooth and mouth pain is awful, I know from experience. I will donate again for this old dude who has been quietly suffering😢 thankyou all for your work.❤
It really is. Unearthly pain that just never quits. And it’s even worse on cats because if they’re meowing about it, you know it’s really bad.

Thank you so much for all that you do for these babies. Lots of love from Singapore ❤
I already donate every month but I'm giving $100 as a single gift to help these poor kitties with aching teeth.

poor guy took weeks to catch! he wouldn't eat anything we offered, until we discovered he's a sucker for deli meat

I’m so excited about a dental clinic!
It's amazing how happy she is when she gets him in the cage. These are the exact kinds of people we need doing this.
Handsome Tartan, glad you allowed yourself to be caught and taken to the vet so you can enjoy your life the way you deserve!😸❤😊

Thank you for your care for cats😊
I know about the cost of dental services! My cats over the years!
Thank you Flatbush Cats..🧡✨️🐾🐾
Wonderful work!
Thank You !!
It's out of reach of most people too, who have to pay for it themselves. They get their teeth pulled.
Cats do better with no teeth than people. There's no social stigma, and their gums harden so they can eat just fine.
Cats are angels in disguise.
You're doing great work!
God bless everyone who helps cats 🙏🏼❤️
