Thanks Geo & Mia. Flying in January 2nd Threw 30th 2024 to Cebu. Going to try this hotel for couple nights. Last time stayed at Waterfront Airport Hotel and Casino. 👍
I followed your earlier recommendation and stayed at the Quest Hotel. It was great. They are so damn polite and welcoming over there. When they greet you they bow to you and put there hand over their heart. You are also in walking distance to the great Ayala Mall which is home to The Social which is a great restaurant especially for you single guys.
The bowing and putting hand over the heart area is eastern culture. They do in Africa and Middle East too. But that doesn't mean anything. The same person doing it can scam you. Becareful
Thank you for the recommendation, Gio, I went to Cebu on a Missions trip back in 2013-14 and I believe we stayed at Parkland, which I believe was across the street from the Ayala Mall. I will remember this place and most likely stay then when I am in the Philippines at the end of this year.
Personally, I think you can better with "Airbnb's" for the money in my opinion in Cebu. I recommend IT park area or the business park area. Location, location folks. In either of the places I mentioned, walk to the mall in under 5 minutes as well as a myriad of restaurants and markets.
Wow - looks very comfortable there at the Belmont. I was just down the street at 8 Newtown Blvd for most of May and walked by Belmont many times but never ventured in. I see Mactan Newtown as a great permanent base but would probably go for the Quest near Ayala Mall as a more active intro to Philippines life. Pricing very similar around 2,500 pesos (excl breakfast) and both Hop Inn and Red Planet are more budget-friendly options near Ayala. I sampled all of these Ayala options on recent trip and they all work well depending on budget.
Very good advice thank you. I must ask if it has western-style soft bed rather than the hard foam Vinyl cover. Surprising how many expensive places have those crap mattresses. How far to Ayala Center? I'm guessing nearly an hour with traffic, but it's been awhile🙏🙏
Better to stay near cebu business park around the mall ayala center. Mactan newtown is a ghetto for foreigners many koreans a few americans and Europeans, you wont get the vibe of cebu here.
This is exactly what I needed to know at this time. Thank you Gio!! I am flying into Cebu on Oct. 2nd and was wondering where to stay until I get my bearings. I couldn't care less about pools and gyms. I just want a well located hotel. I don't trust Airbnb anymore. Had too many bad experiences. Was the snow park indoors? I thought the only place it snows there is in Baguio. Maybe never there.
I stayed at the Belmont in Manila. Across from the airport you can walk across on the sky bridge. It beats taking the taxi going through horrendous traffic.
Great video Gio, this is just what I wanted to see! I know that you have done a lot for recommendations about what to do when you first get to the Philippines and how to prepare and I will be watching those videos but keep doing more. Thanks.
Nice video tour Gio. I appreciate you showing a nice upscale accommodation. At $50, it’s well worth it. This looks like a solid 3 star accommodation, similar to a Marriott standard.
Glad you clarified having the margarita a little later. Even this ex-sailor knows the sun isn't even over the yard-arm yet. Hope you post a video about Maya and Nora experiencing the cold for the first time. I lived in the U.P. of Michigan for a few years, near Ste Sault Marie. Sometime the temperature was -30 degrees or more. You would step out side and think your lungs would freeze in place. That hotel looked great and the restaurant looked spotless. Take care.
You might look for hotels near Ayala mall and SM mall with big range of restaurants and movie theater and cafe. Visiting those malls from Mactan will cost you $6 one way and a traffics on daily basis
Hey Gio, great video! I am getting ready to move to Cebu from Thailand, and I’ve got my initial sights set on Cebu IT park. Or possibly business Park. Been watching vids for years, but it’s hard to get an idea of how far everything is apart. Would you say this hotel is a good place to stay maybe a week while trying to find something longer term in the above mentioned areas? Do you have a preference between IT and business parks? I “think” they are relatively close together? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I'm in Thailand & have to do a Visa border run by AIR, so I might just fly there versus Cambodia? At least I've got the ocean in a brand new hotel in the Philippines. I'm going to Google that hotel and check it out on Agoda? Please anybody hints or tips more advice for me? Thank you I'm sold, no doubt about it, for sure.
interesting to hear youre from Minnesota. Im from Minnesota also and living in Orlando Fl since 97. Where in Mn. did you live? Were planning on moving to the Ph when my wife retires in 4 years, next year were planning on a 3 week vacation in Cebu, We usually stay at the Marriot there but the Belmont looks good,
Cebu is the city I am leaning towards visiting. I was really unhappy living in the Manila area. Cebu seems like it would have enough people that the dating scene would be good and have the beaches nearby, since I love swimming and going for long walks. I heard Davao has beautiful women from the Mindanao area, but it looks boring without any beaches nearby.
Based on 20 years experience and as recent as 3 weeks ago, Cebu City is a dump with Mandaue just as bad, rusty warehouses, rusty steel cable, and some trucks drain crankcase oil directly on the ground, the traffic is unbearable. There are some good hotel experiences around Fuente circle but the street kids harassing foreigners on Gen Maxilon st make for an unpleasant experience. The only thing I want to do is get through as quickly as possible to Dumaguete, Siquior, or Leyete
I would agree that Dumaguete is like places in the US, people hear of others moving somewhere and they say they are moving there also, examples are Presscott AZ, Taos NM, Ft Collins CO, and Sequim WA.
I don't get it! This is an entertainment hotel. Way to much money when looking for a place to live. At $50 a night it can be very stressful while looking for a place to stay, when you'll be to busy looking for a place, to use the amenities.
@@GiointhePhilippines I was just there a few months ago in one of the updated rooms. The buffet is phenomenal, rooms are big and 2 bars are outstanding. Not to mention the casino.

Nice looking hotel and it seems you all were enjoying it. Worth a visit.

For the first few days I still recommend a hotel and check out the Airbnb before renting it long term.
Agree, IT Park has great amenities and you're not trapped. Also there's a lot of local girls to meet. Just use 5 star super hosts exclusively
I agree more for a lower price
My fiancé rented a Condo in IT park area across from the park at only $400 US dollars for entire month when I visited in April
Decent looking place.

Hi thanks for your information about the hotel Belmont. Because I be coming to cebu in July for the first time .

@Gio Does Cebu airport have those "sleep pods" ?
Only Manila.

Belmont would be ok for a few days, but…Any recommendations for a 30 day stay? Must have a good gym.
Airbnb in a condo in IT park, Cebu Business Park or Mactan Newtown.
Wonder if how life is outside the tourist area in Palawan - figure its pretty provins like. No 😢nice mall around the corner
Pretty boring
i will be at appleton hotel september 1 week
Nice place Gio 👍🏼

This is pretty close to the airport. is the noise pollution from the airport not too much there?
No not at all
@@GiointhePhilippines appreciate you
Looks like a nice hotel. I will put this one on my priority list. Do they offer shuttle service?
Yes they do
Great new hotel
Not bad for fifty bucks. If looking for a longer-term place in Cebu City (mall areas?) is three nights at the Belmont too much?
I think it is perfect for two or three nights.
That’s not the Newtown Belmont. I was just there on the 1st
It absolutely is
We stayed at the Savoy in March, terrible cleanliness our sheets and bedding were soiled and was disgusting.

Holiday Inn in Ayala if far nicer !
