Fellow DeLorean owner (VIN 04228). Amazing work on this interior and all the trim work! Impressive! Very excited about this project for you. I basically did the same thing on mine 3 years ago and it’s worth every minute in the end. One electrical thing I don’t regret replacing and worth every penny is all new relays and solid state RPM relay. Definitely improved hot start issue I was having. Keep up the good work! Good luck!
@LegitStreetCars a few suggestions.. The sound deadener.. Will fall off the roof when it gets hot. You have to use a roller and post heat w a heat gun to install it so the adhesive sticks. Second.. There is no gloss black used in interior pieces.. You're far better off to use a satin trim black paint for that.. The orange peel from the gloss is rough. Wire brushing out your ur ashtray and just using a primer woukd be a great idea.. Etc. Lastly. Spray adhesive.. U want to spray both sides but u want to wait u til it is DRY 5 minutes.. Then you won't get bleed thru. And you won't get finger spots in your headliner foam.. Trust the cans instructions.. Leaving spray glue to flash fully is the master trick. Hope that helps my man
I feel this. I'll never forget restoring my first DeLorean. I've seen DeLorean panels made to look like an accordian and some real metal wizards make them look like new again. So I'm surprised anyone would claim they can't be repaired.
Great job! I also want to thank you for making this look doable. So many who make videos about DeLorean ownership and restoration come across as snobby or elitist. Your amiable manner and every guy personality makes this look like anyone can do it.
you're literally my hero for making everything perfect just as I would every time you see it. The best part is that I don't have to do it myself, and you have replacement parts instantly. 11/10 satisfaction.
Leather: While panels are out steam the back side and all areas of the metal. Clean it several times. Smells live there. Leather surfaces: some are tanned, most are painted. The paint does allow the passage of moisture and oils through the hide. Steam the leather and wipe it as clean as you can get it. Then soak the leather by applying any lanolin based leather rejuvenator. Immediately cover it with saran wrap or plastic from grocery bags. Let soak a day and do it at least two more times. My last cream to soak in is called Saphir and is expensive. After removing the last soaking plastic use your hands and more Saphir to rub this last coat. Make the leather move around. If there is a cooked hard spot use lanolin and plastic more times until it is soft. Then vigorously rub the leather timo remove surface cream. Use a real shoe brush to give it a soft mat finish. I use the Groits leather scent spray to give the car the right smell. I spray a bit in weekly.
This Hour/Half was so easy to watch. Movie long video and didn't even feel like I was watching for long as you are one of the only TH-camrs that give so much and I know that we all enjoy the videos and don't care how long they are. Great job on the car.. it looks amazing already.
The sound deadening needs to be rolled until the foil backing is smooth. This ensures proper contact of the material. Otherwise great job with the entire car! Nice and clean.
Huey Lewis is from my hometown and I've played bass with his brother, Jeff Craig, who plays drums. TH-cam has created so many deep friendships, and Dennis is one of them for Alex. I love this kind of stuff. Some of my best friends have come from Craigslist ads for musical equipment. The most fascinating part of DeLorean is at 25:35, what a way to change history in Ireland.
I mean, I'm not even a DeLorean fan really, but now I am! As everyone else is saying and as I always think after watching your videos, the level of attention to detail and "doing it right" is incredible. Even all of the stuff that "people won't see". But we see it! And you'll know internally it's been done right. I just can't help but think that this amazing machine needs a twin turbo LS Swap. There, I said it.
The dedication shown here is both immaculate and insane. Seeing you restore something like this with that smile on your face is also heartwarming. That, and observing how resourceful you are when it comes to doing something you haven't done before or tacking something as niche as a DeLorean. Thank you for what you do Alex! I know I am a few days late, but this was great and I am looking forward to watching the mechanical part when I got time. PS: Cheeers Max for all you do, too!

You keep going, you've such a passion for this build, it's going to be done before you know it and you're doing it right, so it's gonna be one of the best stock DMC specimens around. Congrats on the progress.
If you repaint parts that had rust damage never paint them gloss but go for mat instead the gloss will accentuate the imperfections. And also all metal parts inside a car are never gloss but mat or satin so if you would had gone with mat it would had looked more original. But otherwise you do an awesome job bringing this 80’s icon back to life. It deserves all the love you give it.
After this in depth esthetical restoration. I’m very much hyped for what you have in store on the mechanical department. I mean it needs some work but I bet you can’t go above and beyond without some resto mod items.

Well done Alex, I’m so happy for you! Weird perhaps, but I used to have the job at GM in Oshawa, Canada of installing the rubber door seals. Man that took me back! I was on the edge of my seat watching you reinstall all the interior trim and components, just praying there would be no accidents or drips of adhesives. The car is looking amazing! I have followed you for perhaps 5 years now and really love how far you have come and the impressive content you put out. Please keep it coming! 👍🇨🇦
Great video series. Only hint I can give you is to let the spray adhesive dry on both surfaces then spray one surface lightly just before you install the pieces.
I love how you take pride more now that the channel has grown and you can do more with vehicles the respect of your attention to detail is awesome you take pride in your vehicles. complimenti per l'etica del lavoro che hai è un contenuto contagioso
Need to use a roller on the butyl mats you put in. Helps it adhere to the panels better, which allows it perform its function better. Think of it like sealing it to the surface. You are taking so much time to do this car right, so it may be worth going back in to roll down the mats. The purpose of the butyl mats is to lower the frequency of noise the panel emanates when it vibrates by adding mass. You may also consider adding a layer of closed cell foam (CCF) for insulation. That lessens the burden on your AC to keep the car cool because it is not fighting the sun as much. Same goes in the winter, much easier for it to keep the car warm. If the car is sitting out in the sun the interior would be noticeably less hot, which also means less stress on interior trim pieces because they don't experience extreme temperature changes as often. Fair warning, the CCF is no where near as fun to work with as the butyl! I did a big sound dampening installation in my truck. Extremely noticeable difference for regular road use. It is hard to go back once you have experienced it! What you are doing here is sound dampening as well, not sound deadening. Sound deadening requires a thick layer like a vinyl mat whose purpose is to literally block sound. Sound dampening reduces the noise from vibrations to lower frequencies so it is less audible.
When you first sat in the re installed seat was priceless. When I got my driver seat back in, I was the same way. Look great, I have to do all new weatherstripping as well, hopefully this winter. Keep up the great work. Having that and the future van in the shop has to look amazing.... From milwaukee area

Good luck!
Amazing work Alex, the car is looking like new!👍
Saturday evening and a new episode of LSC! 🎉 There is no better entertainment to watch. Loving this series.
You've done such a good job on this. Keep 'em coming!
Sometime gaps are purposely left in taping and glueing to allow water to drain and air to evaporate condensation. Stopping rust and mold.
@LegitStreetCars a few suggestions..
Hope that helps my man
🏁🏁I’m still hoping for a engine swap on the Delorean 😎🤙🏾
Yeah.. an LS3 would be perfect lol
@@spartanedwI was just gonna say LS Swap the delorean 🤣🤣🤣
CON-SOL PERIOD
I feel this. I'll never forget restoring my first DeLorean. I've seen DeLorean panels made to look like an accordian and some real metal wizards make them look like new again. So I'm surprised anyone would claim they can't be repaired.
The most humble TH-camr I've seen in a long time. Always seems so genuine, not to mention how interesting his videos are.
Great job! I also want to thank you for making this look doable. So many who make videos about DeLorean ownership and restoration come across as snobby or elitist. Your amiable manner and every guy personality makes this look like anyone can do it.
Alex is living the dream of so many ‘80s kids, first with the Grand National and now the nut-and-bolt restoration of the DeLorean. Well done!
I love this! im lerning how to work on a DeLorean on youtube! what a dream dude
you're literally my hero for making everything perfect just as I would every time you see it.
One of the best parts of this video is getting a intimate look at all the parts of the Delorean
The man is thorough and the DeLorean is the perfect content creator too. Never seen the nooks and crannies of one before
Freakin awesome, I absolutely love the fact that you make these 30, 45, 60, even 90 minute videos. We are here for them!!
First time I've watched things in your channel.
Watched the delorean resto for the lay few hours ( 3 episodes) and well impressed with what you've done so far.
All credit to you sir
If nothing else, it’s the world’s cleanest and most sanitized DeLorean. Fantastic job!
When you sat in it near the very end of the video and said "This is heavy" really made my day.
Thanks!
Thanks brother!
The attention to detail and in-depth description of what you’re doing is beyond amazing… well done sir
Oh and it’s con sole
As a Californian, I say counsole as well. Love the video. Great work on making this look like new! Can't wait 'til you get it running!
Just watched entire video. Unbelievable job. Car looks fantastic. Super great job. You speak so clearly it is a joy to watch. Great quality and sound. Fantastic!!!!
Alex we all appreciate your work ethic....then you show how much you appreciate us by recovering and conquering technical difficulty hell. 👍👏
I'm from Belfast and 54 years old. I feckin' luv this series Alex!
Watching you work and clean and "re-grain" your Delorean is giving me good info for when my Cybertruck arrives! Thanks dude! Let me also just say that the end result of this thorough restoration is totally LEGIT!
👍🇨🇦
This must be one of, if not the best DeLorean restoration videos I’ve seen. Amazing content!
What a car! Can't wait to see you cruising the streets. Your doing an amazing job. And we'll done overcoming the tech issues.
I think this is the best video of yours i've watched, thoroughly enjoyed it, long live the DeLorean ! Great job.
Much respect to PDR guys. They can really work some magic.
Very rewarding episode to watch. Love the ocd details. Kudos for squeezing into one episode... a lot of work!
