My Dad bought one new in 87 so I have fond memories of these cars, one of my top 2 cars. He put a bigger turbo from kenny bell that added about 45hp and ran 21 lbs of boost max, chipped, test pipe, etc. It was a beast.

I just started watching this series... Great timing as I got another GN after having to sell my first one 15 Yeats ago. In this video, you removed some wiring I just added. When you found the random fuse under dash.. and thought it was a way to reset check engine lights...it actually has a different purpose. It's an anti-theft device that by pulling the fuse, cuts off power to the ECM...so the vehicle doesn't start. I just installed this kit in mine..lol. Love the full series... it's basically what I'm doing with mine now.

AND DON’T DO IT IF THEY DO!! I think moving to a TV format would ruin your channel. You’d lose creative control, have to bow to corporate pressure and be beholden to big advertisers. Stay free and keep creating the awesome content!!

Don't move to a network. It might sound like a lot of money but you will lose control and frankly lose some of us in TH-cam, just because I don't watch the networks. It won't be future proofed. Recently I saw the headline that Jay Leno's Garage was dropped by NBC.

Just some info from back in the day.
T/B coolant delete will allow your throttle body to frost up and stick if you drive in winter. It will.
    Things we did:
The fuel pumps hit wire kits, adjustable fuel pressure regulator, 3" down pipe, LT1 maf & translator, Big mouth intake, 42#-60# injectors, Walbro 255lph fuel pump or bigger, 10mm spark plug wires, 160° tstat, hybrid turbo like Ta44/60 something for 600hp and reduced lag. Polyurethane adjustable rear 4 links to add some tilt to the diff. Polyurethane trans mount. Engine torque strap, msd etc
    Went high 10s on avg.
I remember one guy that was running 7s.
    Crazy fast.
We used to paint the plenum & sand the top fins paint & plug wires color match etc.

This channel IS MY MORNING CAR SHOW channel! It has just turned out to be this way. You have the perfect number of cars and stories to go with each car to keep multiple stories going at once. You and Peter are 2 humble and entertaining guys to watch and its about how down to earth you both are that keeps me coming back. That humility is top notch, the cars are great, your knowledge drops are fantastic and even though this is entertainment, i feel like I'm learning something along the way.

Also, the blend door for the HVAC system in that car is vacuum operated, and those are typically a source of vacuum leaks. Almost all of the 80s and 90s GMs were vacuum operated. My 1996 GMC Jimmy had a vacuum operated 4WD system and I had to replace the vacuum canister, the blend door actuator, and quite a few of the vacuum lines because they were all either rotted or were leaking.

Alex... I had an 87 a few years ago and had to sell it. I found another one about the same time as you started doing videos on yours. I needed to do almost all the same things you did, so you were a huge help ! When I saw your Tinman I take, I remembered that I had one on my first GN. Long story short, I found out that I live 45 minutes from the Tinman...so we met in Pontiac. MI to pick it up. Wr talked for over an hour and he shared so much.
Like you, I can't believe I actually own one. And like you I brought it back to new condition... even better actually.. i aded a factory power trunk and factory powet drivers seat mechanism....now, I'll drive it all the time. Thanks for all the help. You've actually restored 2 GN's in your process !!!

Guessing the TB Warming circuit was a de-icer for winter driving. In the old carb days, you had a warming tube on the air cleaner sucking heat off the exhaust manifold. Mine was missing on an old Mazda B2000, and she kept dying out on me on winter highway drives. Finally got smart and pulled the filter cover and there was actual ice building up in the throat of the carb. The drop in atmospheric pressure as it passed through the venturi caused the metal to supercool in that area, and any moisture would stick and freeze around the throat of the carb. Pretty crazy but cool science.

Had the car several years, than life took over and got married. Found the current owner of the car (lives about 45 minutes from me) about 10 years ago, and have been trying to buy it back since. Cool video. I've had my GN for a reeeeaaaallly long time and love it. Good to see the GN love. I noticed right away the 36# injectors (from the Thunderbird Super Coupe back in the day - I had 'em too with a 7th injector!) you have a modified factory intercooler, adjustable wastegate rod(not factory), aftermarket oil feed line to the turbo and a bunch of other small bits. Keep an eye on that fuel line at the regulator. That fitting and clamp looks a little wonky. I know of one of these cars burning down due to cheaply modified fuel line connections. Your next call should be to Julio Don at ALKY Control for a methanol kit. You'll see 27psi on pump gas!! Have fun! - WARP 6 in NC

I like the black headliner but I would go ahead and get a new set of black sun visors and dye the pillar trim so that everything above the windows is black. You can always make a shadow box display out of the visor to preserve it if you ever want to put the originals back on. Thanks for the Saturday morning car fix Alex! 😂

This might be the most epic LSC video to date 😍. Pure excitement. Installing the spark plugs reminds me of the old Chuck Yeager ad video..."AC Delco. Power when you need it." That's just a start...😁

My dad's dream car. He got one and let's just say it didn't handle well in the snow. Slid it down the guard rail on the cloverleaf at the bishop Ford and the tri-state TWICE back in the day. Had to get rid of it after the second time. He was heartbroken.

Great video, and I loved the intro about growing up watching TV shows with the host standing in front of a table full of parts. Glad this came true for you. I know I'd watch you on TV on those Saturday mornings if the times were like back then. Great work!

I think I just realized what I look and sound like when I was in my "love for turbo Subies" phase. Yes, that lasted for many years but I do think I see now why everyone was always scratching their head at me. I believe the happiness and number of times you said 'Grand National" in this video could positively make the world a better place. lol
I have only seen one of these in person. I was at a restaurant and one pulled up in the drive through. I immediately walked over, had them roll down the window, and then I said the first thing that came to mind, "how much will you sell it for?". I meant it, owner knew it, and the laughter ensued. I am sure you can guess I wasn't laughing. Cool cars indeed!

Great Buick Old School GN instructional video on how to fix or upgrade so many parts in TC engine and interior as well. I heard in a documentary that V Ice rift leaves out one note which makes it different than Under Pressure to avoid copyright issues. Ice Ice Baby. Anyway the 90’s tune was quite cool and helpful for those looking to soup up their old school ride.

3 1/2 speaker's in the dash and 4×10 in the rear deck lot's of upgrades available. The G/N is kickass and I used to work for GM in the late 90s and I worked on a GTA and it ripped.
That shop I believe is in Plainfield Illinois. My buddy got his G/N from them

Love the old G Nationals! You can take a picture of the sticker on the visor and have recreated exactly the way it sits today faded and all. I know Chip Foose has done that stuff before. Keep it all as black as possible or maybe a darker gun metal grey for contrast on the visors and trim
