Nobod ever comments on Max's editing, but if it wasn't for the unique way Max edita, this channel would not be what it is. He literally makes this channel have the unique feel that it does with Alex's speech always being tight and no pauses, plus the way Alex delivers a quip or missive and then a rapid cut away. Thats the style max delivers.
People do. It is appreciated! He is great (if not amazing). He keeps growing creatively.
I’m pretty sure Alex does most of the editing!
@@SuzukiKid400 Alex will literally say "save that for the bloopers, Max" in the videos.

Hell yeah I will! Lost my Mom to that😢
@@markopolo945I’m sorry you lost your mom to breast cancer. I lost my mom too, but the breast cancer didn’t Quite get the chance to kill her. Instead it was the radiation that killed her. Very very painfully.
Really appreciate that your doing this! On your way to become the Mr.Beast of car TH-camrs. You and Tyler with his holiday giveaways!
No one want to drop the bomb on how little money Komen actually donates to research?
Boogered up spots or not, the decision to go the dry ice route was definitely money well spent! She cleaned up really nice under there and, although you found a little rust (that's evidently repairable), that's a super nice undercarriage for a 40 year old car! I also wanted to thank you Alex & Max for the merch that was sent to me! I'm so grateful and I do appreciate it from the bottom of my heart! Until next week.... MLAR (much love and respect) 💙🙏🏼
I'd suggest reading up on The Komen foundation. Less than 20% of the money goes to anything cancer related. There are far better charities that actually help people.
Yep, they are a bunch of scamming liars
Agreed
Most charities are like this.
Not just that, they have aggressively gone after other charities that use a “pink” anywhere close to theirs for breast cancer. The Komen foundation is a cancer.
Easy. He’s trying to do something good.
There’s no question, when this build is done, you will have the most incredible Delorean EVER!
Probably better than new
Love the DeLorean series! Awesome to see you go all out in this dream restoration.
Really appreciate the amount of efforts Alex is putting in these videos and the series is coming around quite well. With it's stainless steel + fiber body so many different things to see here.
I watch this channel all the time and because of you ive done the same thing to my car, i just got done replacing the suspension with coil overs, rack, control arm, tie rod ends, ball joints, wheel bearing, ect ect just because i like the car i have. To see how much harder/similar it is to this (its a 20 year difference to my 99 es300) makes me very happy that my undertaking got done and i have a basically new car that i built MYSELF instead of buying. Even if its not some high HP thing i dont got that money
Love the 99 es 300❤

Not swapping that engine is an ongoing insult to DeLorean. He never wanted that engine, but was forced into it due to collusion from the big 3 to screw him over. Put a powerplant in that thing that DeLorean himself would have been proud of.
I wish you would had been around when I was a kid those 90s car rebuild shows were boring I would had learned more watching you then them ! Great jobs as always guy !!!!
There's a homeless dirty man I see every day on my way to work I wonder if this machine would work to get him cleaned up?
I suggest making the ice blasting part a short on TH-cam/tiktok/instagram.. just a suggestion. Get some extra engagements
Back to the pile!
I can't believe you are taking the DeLorean to this level before Halloween. You are a determined man.
He is really the hardest working car guy on UTube. Like all of us just a week of working. Respect.
Awesome transformation alex i think the frame will not be an issue and get fixed excited for the next video and seeing the suspension and engine finished up
I wish there were 3 of you so you could pump out Delorean content faster 😂 absolutely loving this series can’t wait to see it all finished!
i appreciate your content , no extra hype just good content.
Doc traveled back to the future to do the intro of Alex' video! Awesome!
for stuck tie rods, instead of whacking the bolt with a nut on it, hit the side of the knuckle where it threads through and it will pop right out.
right after making the comment i see you do the same thing i meant after you cut the castle nuts off. lol good job man
I was cringing at this myself! If you intend to reuse the ball joint NEVER smack it with a hammer. Hit the spindle or use the ball joint tool like he used on the spindle to pop it loose if a hammer doesn't do the trick. You can also use the tension of the suspension spring if you put the nut on the spindle and put a jack under the control arm and whack the spindle to pop it loose. This trick works great on G body and S-truck suspensions.
Wow so impressed of the difference the dry ice did looks so good! You’ll get it done Alex!
I'm currently sweeping a road here in Dublin, Ireland. Because that's how exciting my life is. Anyway, on a coffee break and hoped there would be a cool video to watch.. and here I am! Nice one!
@17:11 "That could fester hatred and anger"
See "Hoovie" and "Buried vehicles in my yard".
Even though you're replacing the suspension parts, if you were to clean them to perfection, laser cleaning cleans even better than dry ice. It's perfect for things like those control arms. It removes rust perfectly as well.
But fail to mention all the toxic smoke that laser creates, and most shops don't have a dedicated bay with ventilation to do safely! Where as rollout a sheet of paper put car on hoist and blast away as long u have decent air flow though area
I love the outtakes at the end. It shows just how much effort and dedication you put in to these videos. Great job Alex.
Such interesting content and excellent production quality. I'm always bummed when the end of a video is coming and chomping at the bit with anticipation for the next video. Thanks so much for doing what you do.
Alex, never hit the stud on tie rods or ball joints for removal. Hit the KNUCKLE on the SIDE of the stud and it will shock it loose! First thought is to hit it the direction you want it to go but horizontal impact is what loosens the tapered studs!
That's correct, the knuckle will deform enough by hitting it to release the taper shaft easily(for the most part).
Yes this one of the first things you learn as an apprentice mechanic, never hit the stud of the ball joint (especially if you plan on reusing it) as it will wreck the stud. The double hammer on the knuckle technique almost always works and doesn't damage the stud.
Look forward to Saturday mornings just for these videos.
Glad you went the Dry Ice route. You should have done the top of the engine while you had it! And inside that valley that was corroded, to get all the dirt off and see what youre working with and ready to anti-rust/protect the block..
Good job though! 👍🏴🇬🇧
So happy you dry ice cleaned your De Lorian! Looks amazing!!! Now, if you want to go crazy, ceramic coat all the fiberglass and frame and suspension! It will add some protection, but it will be easier to clean again later.
The dry ice machine is kind of mesmerizing and therapeutic all at the same time. Great video by the way.
Lol , G'luck putting all those washers back on.. I think had DeLorean just used correct length bolts they'd probably be in business still.
Would have been interesting to see the dry ice on low pressure clean up the engine valley. You do need to treat the alloy tonprevent further deterioration. Plenty of good products from the aerospace industry and then you can do some metal apoxy bonding.
The car itself is absolutly disaster engineered ,but its still a legend
The music during the ice blasting gave me a serious "Kidd Video" flashback, bravo on the music choice.
I liked that you put a license plate between the fiberglass and the flame.
I've seen some welding guys use a really neat fabric behind their welding and torching that absorbs 100% of the heat from going through to the other side.
I wonder if they make a flexible pad like that so you could save that fiberglass from the heat. I know you didn't hit it with "flame" but you can definitely tell it got quite a bit of "heat" on it.
There's a tool called an induction heater that doesn't use flame to heat bolts in sensitive areas. They only run a 2 to 3 hundred dollars which is tremendously less expensive than repairing fire damage. Being in the rust belt I'm surprised he doesn't have one already. Of course he's still using MAP gas instead of a true torch which I find surprising for a former professional mechanic.
👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
You should do LASER etching next time to clean all the metal. Looks so cool, and so does dry ice :)
Spray your wheel wells and undercoating with amsoil mudslinger it's originally designed for off-roaders so they can clean their undercarriages easily but I found that it works great for the car fender wells and under body of any car and stops mud and stuff from oil sticking to your underside it's almost like putting ceramic coating on the undercoat of your car
Have you never watched one of his videos before? He uses that stuff all the time under hood and for fender wells. He's also an Amsoil dealer.
@@FastSS02 no just started watching it because it was suggested to me cuz I own DeLoreans
If anyone can show the world dry ice it is you. Thoroughly enjoyed this video.
That dry ice blasting is great it's a bit like Shot blasting which I have done but it is not as destructive, I do love the before and after and I am pleased you have now seen just how good it is but the price is not always easy to justify apart from on time machines.
Hey Alex, I really enjoyed watching all of the nastiness being stripped from the DeLorean. Thanks for setting this up. I'm looking forward to another installment. Cheers!
Alex, You're so genuine. Happy this is all working out for ya.
My happy place is D’ni, the ancient underground city located in New Mexico. I love spending time in the Great Seed room in my neighborhood. So peaceful. ❤
Dude, wear a respirator mask when you're dry icing, you're breathing in all the garbage that's flying off the car. And make sure the area is well ventilated. Dry ice is frozen carbon dioxide which turns to gas once shot out of the gun and displaces the oxygen around you
You might have breathing issues in a sealed room at floor level. Co2 is heavy so opening a door helps clear it.
Props to your camera man on this one. That's a dirty job, and he just stood right in the mess and filmed it all.
Need to find one of those (larger) laser rust removal machines now!
Before you put the wheels/axles, etc back on….I would hold off for your Halloween display.
I was thinking you could put it on a frame with some wheels (or enough o look like they’re turned for hover mode)
Most could be blacked out and hide the core frame.
You could have your car in hover mode for Halloween…which most everyone would likely view it in the dark.
That would be a great illusion to portray. Just add a quick veneer on the back to look like the movie car.
Out of all the car related content I'm watching right now ( which is a lot ) this is by far my favourite. So epically cool 😎
I live 2 miles away from the old DeLorean factory site just outside Belfast, Northern Ireland. Parts of the test track can still be seen. This project makes me jealous. I’d love to restore one.
😮 wow what a transformation on that frame I didn't even know I could do this with dry ice amazing work you guys did I can't wait to see this car finished, one thing I did knew you was going to do was clean that whole car out even before the dry ice because your a clean freak and I can relate because I'm the same way I just hate to see dirt on my car, great job keep this amazing videos coming your the best and no one does what you do and that's going the whole 9 yards I totally respect that .
And yet again another quilty video love it. And the outtakes are becoming my favourite part 😂
Wheres PETER?
This is a great series . I really like how far you go to making them perfect
Brilliant channel always enjoy your videos 👏🏻🇬🇧
Its so cool to see this project getting along, i bet it will be ready by haloween.
Loving this project. It’s like going back to the future
Great energy working on stuff. Can get boring when someone has the wrong attitude working on anything. Keep up the jokes and the bolt turning obsession! Your attention to detail is contagious also!
My happy place is working on my old Delorean too. Cheers. Love these videos.
I thank you for doing some merch for fundraising for Breast Cancer. My mother fought it for 14 and a half years and passed away about a month and a half ago.
Thanks for the 1980's flash dance music during blasting.😅 Looks Great!
Spray some Eastwood Rust Encapsulator inside the frame through the holes using the tube and spray head.
Pro Tip Alex, Don't hit the stud on a ball joint / tie rod. Whack the hammer on the side of the knuckle where the joint passes thru.
Just want to help spread good info, brake fluid is Hygroscopic meaning it absorbs moisture. Hydroscopic is seeing through the water. Love this series! I grew up loving BTTF! 🤘🤘🤘
You know what Alex?
I got humbled by your video today. Mabye it is my current state of mind, but I love the way you do your videos, and the realtionship you have with, in this case, Chicago autopros. I’m going to try to order one of your shirts for Breast cancer. Hope you ship to sweden!
Please buy bolt induction heater
thank you for raising money for the foundation, my mother just beat breast cancer about a month ago! As always great video Alex!
By far my favorite car channel and presenter! Go Alex!
I've watched pretty much all of your projects start to finish but this one is my absolute favourite.
Have you considered an engine swap? A turbo V6 out of a Ford truck would fit sweet. I have an LS swap that was incredible but would require a lot of modifications. I believe he cut off the entire back of the car and made it removable just to access the engine.
This happens to a lot of TVR's. The body stays mint and the chassis melts away and you don't see it until it's too late.
Haven't read all the comments but I'm sure someone else has mentioned by now that Komen is one of the worst charities to donate to - almost all 'donations' go to their 'administrative' overhead and almost none (comparatively) goes to the actual cause. There's a handful of sites that show all the transparency of most charities and it's very enlightening to check these things.
Loving this build Alex. Also great to see fellow Chicagoan having alot of success!
that underside shot is cool really does look like the Star Destroyer from Star Wars!
Dramatic transform!! Always wanted to see that actually done. Thanks.
For all the tools we have to take ars apart, a hell of alot still needs to be done by hand! Awesome! Prior to coming across this project, I wasn't 'that much' of a petrol head. I think I'm being converted.
Wow what a transformation it looks fun Alex
The bottom of the engine is by far the most satisfying, knowing if you have an oil leak you'll be able to see it in
Car looks great Alex, underside probably hasn't been that clean since the factory, maybe not even then. If you miss your target date, you could always leave a sign on it. "This car will be back to new in the near future."
Would be nice to see what it took to clean up the shop afterwards.
Yellow cap Easy Off oven cleaner has Lye in it, it will dissolve ANY baked on oil. It will also eat lots of other stuff including some metals, so research before using it, but it works like magic, basically zero scrubbing if it sits long enough. Sometimes you need to do a few applications because the Lye gets consumed by the volume of grease it's acting on.
30:15 - Came for the inevitable Smiley Face - Not disappointed
33:24 - We have the same '..looks better than it used to..' face!
There's no such thing as a numbers matching DeLorean! The early frames will have a number plate welded on. The latter cars just have them written on with a marker. But with the early cars you can track the engine and transmission too the paper work.
You can still make the Enchantment Under the Sea Dance on November 12th!
Love these Saturday morning videos! My aunt was just diagnosed with breast cancer, so def grabbing a shirt!
I'm so sorry to hear. I wish her the best and thanks for picking up a shirt
We use dry use for our work in a tire manufacturing facility it’s so works great they are so pleased and it doesn’t contaminate the area
Hi Alex. Jesus this Dry Ice is Brilliant. It does a perfect job. It must cost a fair amount of Money too buy. There's not alot of Rust on the De Lorean. I can't wait to see it being finished. You got very lucky with this Car Alex. Great Video 😅😅 🇨🇮🇨🇮🇨🇮🇨🇮🇨🇮
Jeez....wish I had that equipment on the last 25 2nd gen corvette undercarriage I've done. Looks like a real time saver and keeps me from sniffing carb cleaner and air craft stripper for weeks at a time.
*33:00** That part needed sand blasting. Any aluminum that gets stained will need a bit more mechanical stripping.*
The transformation of the frame was absolutely amazing , good job
Do a traditional wash/degrease first and dry ice blast it after, way more efficient. Dry ice can blast grime and grease, but it takes way too much time to do.
As much as you like to detail stuff i could see you getting a dry ice machine in the future
So enjoyed the ‘80s music, Alex. Awesome video 👏
Finally the DeLorean got a hover conversion....floating on the lifts. Lol. The time machine looks great, definitely worth every penny on the dry ice treatment.
Looking good! You’ll have a brand new DeLorean by the time you’re done with her!!
You should do a dry ice and laser cleaning comparison.
Chicago Auto Pros always does amazing work
We want a total cost breakdown afterwards from cost to finish. Great video.
You could media blast with crushed walnut shells where the rust and other hard areas are.
Hello from Bulgaria Alex! I just want to tell you that you are living my dream! I have learned so much of your videos and honestly you are the only one youtuber that I follow. Keep up with the great work you must know that you inspire people all over the world!
This guy delivers!! Did you address the valley area with dry ice as well?
Reminds me of the Fan home DeLorean build.
Thx for the eye$ 👀 open look$...nice work guys HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Yes Alex, dry ice is a lot like watching grass grow!
Good job. Even the bad parts don't look all that bad.
