A movie won't do justice to this topic. Someone must make a 100-episode series with inputs from Siddhu Sir, Shekhar Gupta, Tavleen Singh and other material available in the open domain. All sides of the issue must be shown. Some foreign director of the calibre of Scorsese, with no skin in the game, must be brought onboard to ensure that partiality doesn't creep in.

"Give something for the Sikhs to forgive". I have to agree with Mr Sidhu. History is complex and it's often hard to really figure out when or who fired the first shot. But in the interest of the protecting the integrity and future of the nation, it's important to reconcile with the tragedies of the past to allow healing. Accepting our mistakes doesn't harm our pride, but portrays our confidence and good intentions.
But if Bhindranwale was a saint, how he got recruited into Congress propaganda and then took advantage of this power to go against the government. He is not innocent per se and nor are the Sikhs who are resorting to killing and demanding Khalistan. That's terrorism. How do you reconcile with that? And now they are against present govt. too.

But during the 1980s period innocent Sikhs who were completely unconnected were persecuted (using a milder language on purpose). He is saying that historical wrong needs to be acknowledged and a simple apology would help the community heal. That will also weaken the arguments of the current Khalistani movement.

What an insightful Podcast. Every Indian should hear this. Smitaji a suggestion - please have captions on for all your podcasts. Mr. Sidhu's voice was so soft and sometimes slurred due to his age, although my laptop and YT volume was high, I could not catch many of his words. I had heard that Sanjay Gandhi himself was conspiring against his Mother to take over the ropes of Congress and becoming a PM, but this went beyond his Mother's security. It was at the stake of National Security that Bindrawala was nurtured to become what he is now. 2023 is seeing the movement again gaining momentum now, which needs to be squashed immediately, before things go out of hand. As someone rightly has mentioned in the comments here, as to why there were no protests or hue and cry made on Indira Gandhi's assassination float that was taken out in a parade in Brampton recently ? I too was wondering the same thing. Congress makes a huge hue and cry on every thing that PM Modi does, then why not on this ?
OMG, I also lived at Kidwai Nagar East during my childhood and had gone to the Govt. Boys. Sr. Sec School there. Never knew that you lived there too, probably in the D 2 Flats. But in the interest of the protecting the integrity and future of the nation, it's important to reconcile with the tragedies of the past to allow healing. But during the 1980s period innocent Sikhs who were completely unconnected were persecuted (using a milder language on purpose). He is saying that historical wrong needs to be acknowledged and a simple apology would help the community heal. That will also weaken the arguments of the current Khalistani movement.

Smitaji a suggestion - please have captions on for all your podcasts. Mr. Sidhu's voice was so soft and sometimes slurred due to his age, although my laptop and YT volume was high, I could not catch many of his words.
I had heard that Sanjay Gandhi himself was conspiring against his Mother to take over the ropes of Congress and becoming a PM, but this went beyond his Mother's security. It was at the stake of National Security that Bindrawala was nurtured to become what he is now.
2023 is seeing the movement again gaining momentum now, which needs to be squashed immediately, before things go out of hand.
As someone rightly has mentioned in the comments here, as to why there were no protests or hue and cry made on Indira Gandhi's assassination float that was taken out in a parade in Brampton recently ?

Please understand that there were never more than 500 militants at the peak of insurgency and they did not have any ideological support from general public. I am a Sikh myself and 55 years old and have lived through that period so I know.
If you go to a village in Punjab and try to talk about creating a Khalistan I can assure you that you will be beaten black and blue.
