Now I am looking after a kid, my hip hurts, I have to go to work, and I am 30 something (five *cough*) years old. Idk bout y'all, but it's always fun to hear and speak about these new perspectives and ideas within books and stuff and it would be so much fun

Aww dude I completely relate to what you said near the end about feeling like writing is the one thing you're good at and you're worried about failing at it. One thing that really helped me manage that fear was this one post I saw about a pottery instructor dividing his class into 2 halves and telling one half that they just have to make as many pots as they can while the other half has to just make one pot the best it can be. But at the end of the experiment, the highest quality work came out of the group that was assessed based on how many pots they made. I think it speaks to two things: you learn by doing, and by making mistakes. You can sit and theorize all you want about what makes a perfect clay pot but the guy across the room who's already made 15 knows intimately what works and what doesn't and is able to get a feel for it. Yeah, his first 14 pots might be shit but hey, he made 14 pots! And by the 15th one, he's ironed out a lot of the issues! I hope you don't let that anxiety stop you from writing.
