Yes. When he said that about his degree it reminded me of Machado De Assis. In Epitaph of a Small Winner the character says something like "University wasn't a complete waste of time. I got 3 lines from Virgil and 2 lines from Horace which I can remember for the rest of my life".
It’s even more fun when you have to walk your ancient professor through how to work with all these programs.. It’s kinda annoying but I also feel so bad for all of them, they just got thrown into the deep end.. I love that I'm in Biology major, I should write my thesis about molecular biological analysis of viruses in a completely different language bc I'm Hungarian and I live there yet I binge-watch your videos about English literature. Procrastination at its finest
I can’t believe you named all the Shakespeare plays! I literally handed in my Shakespeare coursework last week and I only got 31/38! 😅Also, this is probably a stupid question but what order were you naming them in- like the order in the first folio? Because it wasn’t date order and I was so confused 😆 loving this new channel already btw!
Jack: lists all the plays written by Shakespear except for one Me, who had to memorize the entire "A pound of flesh" monologue for my English class in HS: * screams at the screen * YOU HAVEN'T WRITTEN MERCHANT OF VENICE YET! THAT HAS TO BE MERCHANT OF VENICE
Sporcle takes me back! It was one of the few websites my high school hadn't blocked back in the day (2008/2009 era), and I spent my entire senior year hiding in the computer lab doing sporcle quizzes
Had a ton of fun playing these along with you! I was entirely unfamiliar with you prior to getting your mystery box video in my suggestions, you’ve just gained a new subscriber on both channels!
Jack looked so happy showing off his English degree it made me smile. As an English literature student myself I can understand how proud he must be of his degree.
I am crying over the fact that Jack didn't know it was mount doom.... lotr is genuinely my favorite thing ever... most pretentious yet actually good books I've ever read...
Woah in the first quiz I was like: I don’t know much about literature at all but coincidentally I happened to read or have knowledge about many of these particular questions HAHA. Like from all of the British literature i’ve read, this test had questions about exactly those books (like the first sentence in a Tale of Two Cities haha). Anyway, love the idea for a new channel Jack!! Hope it doesn’t give you much pressure to only deliver high quality content based on your level of quality (what you know you’re able to make I mean). Anyway, looking forward to new vids!💥📺🎉
I am so incredibly stunned that you were able to name all of the Shakespeare plays in date order, and in like 4 minutes. Wtf Jack 😂 a well earned literature degree that's for sure and I think I just fell in love.
dude yesterday i spontaneously decided to watch your youtubers' books video (the british one) and now i've somehow made it here … i'm not complaining though i always love seeing someone who has as much love for books as i do
I loved doing the Shakespeare quiz when I took it! I missed two, I don't remember which ones though. At least one of them was a comedy. I am extremely impressed with all of these! I can't wait to study for a literature degree!
I’m going back after having found your channel and looking at this very first video on it, and I have to note that that was not a chronological listing of Shakespeare’s plays, since “The Tempest“ was one of his last comedies, not his first, and “Titus Andronicus” was his first tragedy, not whatever was listed on there. Still, you got them all, and even though I know them all, my brain probably would’ve shut down when I was trying to remember the last one.
I had an exceptional literature teacher in high school and loved reading so it was fun watching this video also.. Great refresher and love your channels! I just found them
I mean this is the best way physically possible: you naming all of the Shakespeare plays correctly in order is incredibly sexy of you, I'm falling in love right now
BA in English here (in the US). I got 28 out of 38 plays. I didn't specialize in studying Shakespeare but I don't think I did terrible, but you rocked it! Not going to lie though, the others were pretty easy, but the website is borderline unusable. I call bs on the last quiz. Those names are not organized in a friendly manner. It's like it's testing your ability to scan a block of text rather than actually knowing the authors.
Just a quick tip: because the last one is crazy fast and it is more luck if you find the author rather than knowledge you can actually change the timer into a stopwatch if you click next to the timer line on the little arrow down. I was so stressed I messed up so much then did it with stopwatch and did the thing to 90% under 2 min.

You are the one person that actually crushed the meme: "Oh, so you've studied Shakespeare. Name all the plays he wrote." 😂
YES
And then he did most of them IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER
Name them. Easy. But he did them folio order and I have to just gracefully bow down
