Great video! Just one thing. You don't need to cut the flanges off the USB cable with the razor blade. The flange rubber is soft enough that you can pretty easily work the connector out of the shroud without any cutting.

Yes, the original kinect cable can be pulled right through. It takes a bit of force though and I dint want to risk anything breaking or stressing the original cable. I keep the original cable to use with the old style consoles still.
Great video, organized and comprehensive. I have looked at dozens of these videos and no one other than you stated if you can use the power adapter instead of the tapped in power supply. I would recommend that you state what version of Windows you are using.

I tried the calibration test and it will stop at 17% and have a message saying something like "make sure your speakers are turned up and your kinect is fully plugged-in" I have tried resetting the power, the box, everything. Dude you tried this with the power supply/Kinect plugged in?! If you did this, you just fried your Kinect by causing a short-circuit. Might be fixable, though.

The fan will work just as it should. The fan only comes on when the unit reaches a certain temperature. You can cut the yellow and blue wires to the fan and have the fan run all the time but that would eventually cause your fan to prematurely fail.

It burns the fuse of the Kinect, replace It, or cut the yellow wire of the fan
I touched the wire to pin 10 and it hit another pin and smoked. It no longer works, is there anything I can do?

Yes it needs the external power. The USB3.0 type B doesnt supply the needed 12v for normal operation of the kinect unit

You must have the power plugged into an outlet and the usb from the kinect to the xbox.
