Hello, I bought a camera kinect for xbox one and the adapter 12 volts, 2.67 amperes. I want to use the kinect with windows 8.1 64 bits. I downloaded the SDK 2.0 and installed it before plugging the kinect. I saw that the device manager only detect the SENSOR NUI but not the camera. Hi again so I ordered the 3d abyss shroud with the dc input built in. So I guess u r the manufacturer of these parts? Couple of questions first when removing the stickers to expose the t10 screws does the sticker have any sort of security markings that show up after removing them that make it easy to tell u opened it and voided the warranty or can they be replaced with no sign of tampering? Second when testing the connections with the multimeter what setting should I have it dialed into?
The screws do not, one of the stickers being peeled up will have the "Microsoft" imprint in them if heated up enough they will come off and not leave any mark. When testing connections you are looking if they are connected so Ohms. However most importantly you are checking to see if you have shorted it out to any other near by pins. The units themselves are already tested before shipping.
I have a 1520 Sensor bar... and want to do this so wondering which adapter is for mine? The rear port or side port? Also found that splicing through the original Kinect cable brings up all wires to actually solder to a USB3 cable... but with 2 wires over... a thin black white one (signal wire) and a grey one... all other wires match up. Do you know what these 2 extra wires might be for and is it possible to splice and solder in as opposed to doing your mod?
So this works with the 1520 sensor. The rear and side port do exactly the same thing. The rear port was replaced because people thought it was too stiff to plug in and unplug and there was no tactile feedback. The side port when you plug in the adapter there is a "click" so you know its all the way in, vs the old version where you would just push in as hard as you could. You actually can do the exact same mod by splicing the wires. However there are some downsides to this. 1) It wont look clean 2) All the wires are shielded, once you cut that away the shielding will no longer exist on the areas you cut and soldered. Therefore you are subject to signal interference. 3) It is very difficult to move and you could get connectivity issues when the wires move or shift. 4) there is a potential for humidity to seep into spliced connections over time. Aside from that everything else should be fine. You'll have to probe around to see what wires are what. 4 signal 2 power.
@@xUltraShadow I never got round to it. I just opened up and did the fast-track power wire soldering mod and used a separate cable for the USB. It works but would like sometime to buy the mod kit and do this soon.
did the mod , solders fine checked under scope , fans pulled and checkked they are dead - kinect powers on and keeps restarting in both my one x and pc with 3.o usb helllllp
If everything is fine, it could be your power supply. If it does not provide consistent 12v 3a it will shut off from under voltage. If your power supply can only peak at 3a it will shut off as well. I would first check if your power supply is putting out enough power. The second I would check is if there are any shorts to the board. That can cause the same result!
Well under ohms you would be looking for resistance values so not voltage. I set mine to 20k. Though it doesn't necessarily matter in this case, we are just looking for connection or no connection. The value itself is arbitrary. The wires are solid copper and conduct very well with very little resistance. You will be looking for connection for the dc jack + (inner pin) with the number 10 pin, and the Dc jack - (outter) with the ground. Also advisable to make sure there is no connection between 10 pin and its neighboring pins.
hello , im just want to cnow its works with all windows wersions or not? because I order parts do everythink good but when I connect nothink happen... no sound nothink...thanks

In the past they were all individualized, however it confused most people so only the most popular options were kept. You don't need to buy everything from amazon. Local dollar store or home depot may have your screw driver kits and adapters can be sourced from old components you have laying around. Yes, the kit includes everything minus the tools. The reason why you need it is because, the Xbox One kinect has a proprietary plug that only is usable on the Original Xbox one. If you look at the back you will see a logo for a Kinect. That plug is not shared with any of the other Xbox one X or S units. Therefore this mod is needed. The original cable from the Xbox One Original Provides power and signal. The xbox one S and X are only able to provide signal, no power. Hope this helps any questions feel free to let me know! why not just strip the original cable and attach it to a normal usb3 and the extra 2 wires will be just the 12v line for whatever ad/dc adapter you have available
You absolutely could! its just not as durable. The wire splicing and hanging out over time will create issues. Also the change in resistance between wire gauges and how you sheath the wire from noise would be quite difficult. If you ever open up one of these wires you will notice some signal wires will have shielding over them. Its particularly hard to do if you just cut them all open and wired them together. You will get interference in that one blob that was unsheathed. Also mostly Kinects are used by kids. So the moving of the cables or bending wobbling will cause stress at those points where they are prone to break!
@@JackWagonOne I've modded the cable and it works flawlessly! If you want to know the color code i've made some comments under this video: th-cam.com/video/z7QejwPP0T0/w-d-xo.html
Hi 3D ABYSS; thanks for the video, i have question please; i dont understand, on this site, they recommand 12v 1a ; www.tatsch.it/kinect-2-usb-3-modification/ you advised to use 12v 3a, if you use a smaller than 36va (12v3a), you will damaged a motherboard? how? regards
They are incorrect, I own both the Original Xbox One S adapter from Microsoft and our kits. Original units are 2.67 Amps. If you run lower amperage the adapter is not designed for that load, what will happen is the wires and internal components WILL OVERHEAT, resulting insulation melting wires breaking and shorting, Not all wires will short at the same time, this will cause a SURGE into your unit, or a short circuit, damaging your board. A second possibility is, there is a internal fail safe for the adapter in the event of over draw it shuts off. This will just cause surges of electricity when it starts and shuts off sent to your unit... which also is not good for components. We have modified over 500 units, not a single complaint over the last year and a half.

So the moving of the cables or bending wobbling will cause stress at those points where they are prone to break!
it wont work
oh it did, just need to cut cleanly and solder every link accordingly, follow a usb3 A-B pinout diagram
@EspHack ~ Did you happen to document and share this anywhere?
@@JackWagonOne I've modded the cable and it works flawlessly! If you want to know the color code i've made some comments under this video: th-cam.com/video/z7QejwPP0T0/w-d-xo.html
Where can I order the kit?

Weller doesn't make good soldering irons either bud...
Hi 3D ABYSS; thanks for the video, i have question please;
i dont understand, on this site, they recommand 12v 1a ;
www.tatsch.it/kinect-2-usb-3-modification/
you advised to use 12v 3a, if you use a smaller than 36va (12v3a), you will damaged a motherboard? how?
We have modified over 500 units, not a single complaint over the last year and a half.
boy you talk fast, but good video
Is this sped up or does this guy talk that fast?
play at 0.75 speed. god knows why he sped it up
Why did you make the video 25% faster there is no need for that
Originally youtube limited the amount of time you can upload a video. Only reason to do so, instead of splitting it into part one and two it can be one video.
3D Abyss oh ok i didn't know. What was the old limit then?
IIRC it was 18 minutes, after that either it was split or you had to jump through a bunch of hoops for verification and uploading guidelines.
Could you mod mines for me? :D
Sure you can message us on Etsy!

speed: 0.75
Shut slow down don't taik so fast ffs
