3:30 in to your introduction and I’m already in tears.
I think a lot of us viewers of reactions do know that so many stories are hard on the reactors, often enough to the point of triggering stuff. I don’t go in looking/hoping for people to be traumatised, or reminded of trauma, but I notice it happens sometimes with all sorts of reactors, even when the person is very very quiet. It is a privilege to be able to watch reactors be so vulnerable on camera. In the way that Heartstopper is revolutionary representation and modeling of healthy communication for young people, I think the many men on TH-cam who come on and be emotionally vulnerable, and talk through and about their emotions, like you gentlemen do, is a very much needed representation and modeling of healthy masculinity. It breaks my heart when men and boys talk about not being allowed to have or show emotions. Especially sadness.

@@ariadnepyanfar1048 There’s really so much that can be said here, and a larger discussion about mens mental health is probably needed. However I just wanted to say thank you. These episodes get exhausting for the both of us at times, for different reasons, as I’m sure you can tell, but if we’re going to “react” to something like this, it would be a disservice to not have some meaningful dialogue. -Carl

Powerful television drama at its best. Season 3 really has just shown us the brilliant acting skills of the actors, the perfect writing from Alice and great production and direction. This drama does so much in just 8 half hour episodes per season, than other dramas have done with 26 one hour episodes per season.

Very true… I feel like many other dramas would have dragged out the story for the sake of drama… Heartstopper feels like it moves forward very deliberately, without feeling rushed 😎👍 -GV (Alex)

This episode hurt a lot because I have known a lot of people who have had mental health issues and EDs. When nick said because he will barely talk to me about it. I started crying because I have been nick.

For me, watching these episodes, I’m more emotionally moved when Nick is in pain. It makes me feel sad for all the people I must have made feel this way. Thank you for your comment 🫂😎👍 -GV (Alex)

This season was such a hard watch for me. Seeing how much Tori, Nick and the others worried for Charlie going through his experience with his mental health, eating disorder and self harm got me thinking about how those in my life feel for me. I never talked with anyone about my own problems, because i didn’t want to be a burden; but I know that they knew something was wrong and worried for me constantly. Seeing how Tori and Nick felt must have been exactly how my family and friends felt. I went into this show expecting a cute love story but it has me reminiscing about the past couple of years in ways I don’t think I was ready to, but damn did I need it.

I'm always interested in your reactions to this show. I've watched the reactions of younger fans (God bless them) who often scream or squeal over every little thing that happens and ends up being more annoying than enjoyable. Keep up the good work. I'm looking forward to your Season 2 reactions also.
I may be wrong but I think when Darcy gave Elle the skirt she says she hasn't worn a skirt outside of school for years.

I don’t think Carl is the squealing type 😅 But seriously, we’re so happy to have found viewers like you, that enjoy our friendship and the way we love to banter 😅 Thanks for the clarification on Darcy’s skirt. I’m guessing she felt forced to wear it because of her mother and it being a part of the school uniform. -GV (Alex)

40:35 I love that you recognise the hard work your friend who has the mental health issue has had to do. Because the work is often invisible that Charlie has to do, I feel like a lot of viewers of this show see the work that Nick is putting in to support Charlie as being a bigger task.

16:50 when you guys were talking about Darcy’s clothes, I 100% agree!
However, that got me thinking about the reverse. I seriously doubt that if a boy at the boys school decided they wanted to wear the girls skirts they would ever be allowed. Elle is a good example. The show talks about she got in trouble for her hair length, but never mentioned anything about her clothes being an issue. I’m for equality, but it should go both ways. Anyway, just something I thought about.

We often go on holidays in the UK and arrrive back just in time for school the next day. Sometimes summer holiday prices dictate these timings.

    • @slm_766
      @slm_766 20 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Yes.
In Alice's book 4, she gives dates of some events.
The day at the beach (and the shower scene) occurred on August 11. Nick and family left the next day (August 12) to go on the 3 WEEK holiday.
12+21 = 33. That puts the return date as September 2. The school year begins at the beginning of September (Sometimes September 1).
So that puts them starting the new school year as soon as they return from the holiday.
      Nick's birthday is September 4.

    The episode title is TALK.
What does TALK mean as an episode title???
(Is it a Noun? Verb?; between two people? Among a group? A speech to a group?)
The episode titles often are chosen by the author for their ambiguity, for their having multiple possible meanings.
They can refer to more than one event or idea in the episode.
A good example was the title KISS (1x3).
Reactors looking at that title started trying to guess who kisses whom throughout the episode -- some predicting negative connotations as well as more positive ones.
(Could it be that Nick and Imogen kiss? Could it be that Ben approaches Charlie and they kiss? Is the kiss the one between Tara and Darcy? Or is it about the ones between Nick and Charlie?
Reactors have guessed/predicted all of those outcomes as they went along viewing the episode.)
In this episode, the title TALK is used in multiple ways --- sometimes as a noun, sometimes a verb.
But as I looked through the dialogue, I did not see the infamous usage: "We have to talk."
It referred to people having a talk (Often without naming the event as a talk --- people just started 'having the talk' spontaneously)
For example when the friend group was in the acquarium, they had an extensive talk when Isaac explains his asexuality/aromanticism. It was a collaborative talk
(At a couple of points, Nick speaks up to show that he understands Isaac's feelings about discovering he was ACE.
[Nick basically says "me too" at one point when he revealed to the group (for the first time ) that when he realized that he liked Charlie, he cried at an "Am I Gay" quiz.])
There were other spontaneous conversations about feelings : They were "talks" (the word used as anoun)
There was the conversation in which Nick suggested that Charlie should talk to his parents or to a doctor.
(This was not a case of "We have to talk.") It was a general sense of "you need to talk to someone (to get help)"
The closest that the word or idea was used in the talk-announcement sense was when Charlie said to his parents "I have to talk to you about something."
But it wasn't the "we need to talk" idea -- it wasn't saying that we need to talk in a vague future time.
It was Charlie saying "I'm about to say something important to you." [I have to talk to you about something (now)]
It was like a title for his paragraph of explanation, which he immediately began.
That was the only time the word "talk" was used in any way close to the dreaded "we have to talk" usage.
    *** *** ***
So I think that when we look at the episode titles, we should keep in mind that the author is using double meanings (or more).

I honestly think this series will change, indeed save, lives. It teaches such import things in a gentle, unjudgemental way. Thank you for sharing your experiences. They matter. @GVSV-Media  19 วันที่ผ่านมา

Thank you @raygoodspeed2382!!! Being made to feel anxious about anything, is not how I want people in a relationship with me to feel. But sometimes I need to talk and want to be heard, and I know if I don’t ask for time to be set aside to have someone’s undivided attention. I might never find the right time to just talk about it, because they will always find something else to fill their attention. This is not a valid excuse, just me thinking out loud about my wants and needs for why I’ve done this to people in the past. -GV (Alex)

The thing about Tao’s comment to Isaac - “if you’re so bitter about being single, then what happened to James?” is over the line no matter what Isaac’s sexuality is. Last season, approximately 6 weeks ago, Isaac told the group, “I’m sorry to break it to you, but I don’t like him like that.” Basically what Tao is saying is, “if you’re so jealous of me spending time with Elle, it must be because you want your own relationship, and you had someone you could have used for a relationship, but you let him go, and that was stupid.” The perspective that Isaac should have forced a relationship with James so he could be less jealous of his friends in relationships is wild, and it comes across like Tao doesn’t actually think of James as a real person with feelings of his own. Obviously, Tao is not thinking clearly about how obnoxious he’s been by being all wrapped up in Elle, but him saying that Isaac should have made something happen with James despite not having feelings for him is just really disrespectful to them both.
