I think that moment between Nick and Tao kicked everyone in the feels. Poor Nick has spent months worrying about Charlie, putting on a brave face, and right there, right then, he really needed a cuddle, someone to lean on, just for a moment, to "recharge" as he did regularly with Charlie. Alex, I was a bit older than you, but been there too sweetie. This episode was a tough watch. X
I came across heartstopper by accident last year and fell in love with the show as a straight mother in her 40s i could see my girl in Charlie. She suffered with her mental from14 when it got really bad then the eating disorder kicked in and self harm to get some control back but our health system is so bad help was too late she decided to end her own pain she was 19years old waste of a beautiful young woman. Saw 2 doctors the the week she passed our kids are being ignored and let down by the only people who can help them the show helped me to grieve.
I cannot imagine your pain. I am so glad this is helping you to grieve. If you feel up to it, would you tell us a happy memory of her, or tell us something you loved about her personality?
@@ariadnepyanfar1048 Loved horse riding and drawing even though she had a boyfriend she wanted to go on holiday with the family always was the first one up for a party and she didn't drink but enjoyed a night out without it. My son loves to talk about how he is older than her they had great friendship dark sense of humor he misses her alot.
My heart hurts for you and what you have gone through. I'm a Mum too and can empathise with you regarding the state of mental health treatment and lack of services available. So many factors have contributed to the decline of my son's mental health from the lack of action in school to the waiting lists for even the most basic counselling. I am so sorry that your daughter was let down. Thank you for sharing ❤
Thank you so much for being vulnerable and sharing. We talk about how amazing this show is for being what queer adults needed when we were their age. However, I also feel like open conversations about mental illness and set backs are really needed too. We don't need the graphic details and images that 13 Reasons Why did, but we do need the honesty and openness that Heartstopper gives and that you give. I know this episode was hard for me because I had a bad setback about 2 years ago, so it's still a bit fresh for me. Thank you again for your honesty
On the happier note, I did love the marvel agenda jokes. It's so funny considering Charlie's actor is in the MCU currently (he's a main character in the Agatha All Along miniseries so that makes 3 people in his life in the MCU. His mom is a major character in the Secret Invasion mini series w/Nick Fury and his aunt is Captain America's love interest Peggy Carter. Man is surrounded by the MCU lmao
You guys are one of my favorites who react to heartstopper I’m excited to see what you do next. I’d love something like Always Sunnny in Philadelphia, bones, monk, or just about anything from the earlier 2000s
Weeping at Dead Poets Society is a relatable experience, and that scene in particular is such a gut punch. The whole ending shredded me. I hope that your teacher’s gesture was ultimately helpful; it’s nice that he had that empathy.
I related to Charlie a little too hard during this as someone who also TW: ed/self harm . . self harmed and dealt with highly disordered eating during school due to homophobia & bullying. It sucks so much that this is not as uncommon as it should be for lgbt kids. As I'm now older it feels much farther away like you said but it's still so sad to see. Knowing what I put my family through I feel for all the characters so much. Poor Tori & his family probably blaming themselves for not catching it earlier. Nick breaking down at the party made me cry too. It was all done very tastefully, and I appreciate that so much. Good job Heartstopper.
I’m so glad this is helping you heal. I’m appreciative that the show depicts the struggles that they’re both undergoing and the support that they’re both receiving. As someone who has been both in Nick’s situation and in Charlie’s, I was praying that this adaptation would strike that needed balance.
Sometimes our strong ones need a place to flop too. Agree, weeping willows are gorgeous, magical, and make me happy. I was able to listen to the vast bulk of your conversations attentively and intensely. Right at the end I dropped, and then I cracked. I’ve had decades of extremely helpful professional suppoert, and more importantly skills learning from CBT and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy. So I’ve had a very cleansing cry. Thanks for putting up such a thorough list of USA resources. In Australia Lifeline has been helpful when I’ve been between appointments and my skills havn’t been enough, which is now incredibly rare. GV, glad you had a good/helpful experience as an inpatient. Had more to say earlier, but it’s beyond me now. Except the dark humour of the Dead Poets Society incident. As far as classes go, there’s nothing much that could have been more damaging for anyone in your situation. And you getting though it hanging by your fingernails chanting “I’m fine, I’m fine.” I recently laughed with sincere humour at one of the most traumatic experiences I had 40 years ago. I hope for you that you get to laugh at something that was long term catastrophic too.
@@AmySaysWords Incredible. And the amazing thing is how much the people around you in daily life start taking onboard the skills you use to interact with them, like de-escalating arguments into much calmer conversations, more accepting of unchangable problems so you just deal with it instead of getting more and more upset, and of course the intense Mindfulness training is the silver bullet in the arsenal of skills. It’s a big time and money cost, 5 hours a day, one day a week, for most weeks of the year. It was AU$640 for each day (my insurance covered the lot). But I can’t help thinking that society would benefit from every teacher eventually going through one full year of training. The knock on effect for students would be incredible. And it definitely would benefit every single military and emergency services personnel. But even if the government couldn’t afford it for everyone who needs it, training one police officer per station per year, one doctor and nurse per ward a year, one EMT an area a year, one firefighter per station a year, one soldier a platoon a year. Sprinkle DBT trained officers, marines, aircraft personnel etc throughout the services. Get all the Sargents trained so they can drop DBT techniques amongst the enlisted who need it on the spot.
When i was in, my family came everyday. And the staff and other patients who DIDNT get visitors would throw it in my face. Like, 'why are you even in here you clearly dont have any real problems, you faker'. It kinda sucked.
Thanks for sharing. This one was a hard episode to watch the crisis number for Canada is 9-8-8. On a happier note you should all read song of Achilles it is a really good book. Also the technical definition of vintage is older than 20 years old antique is something like 60-90 years old. I think the characters are from around 2004-2009 at least in the comics and the actors are born 2004.
Interesting digression re keeping journals. I also recall Nick saying that rugby was good for releasing negative emotions. Tao may not believe that in the moment, but I'm sure for someone like Nick, that can be true.
Absolutely. Anger can be used destructively or constructively. As long as you stick within the rules, you can use the energy of anger to run faster, fly further, throw and kick harder. And like so many sports and other activities, as long as your head is in the activity it becomes a moving Mindfulness activity. Your brain takes a holiday from stressing about the future or angering about the past while it’s fully in the present. As long as you are being non judgmental about the present. Just taking it in with your senses and concentrating on doing instead of stressing about score.

Agatha All Along is not only an openly queer-character led limited series in the Marvel Universe, it’s fun and compared to Season 3 Heartstopper, lighthearted. Also, Joe Locke. Also, it’s where Gay meets the Marvel Agenda. The ironic thing of course is that the comic books were originally always queer and civil rights coded, anti discrimination in every way, but that /whooshed SO many people, who saw the exaggerated sexualised drawings and thought it was shallow het entertainment for boys and men. Might have to either watch Wandavision, or a season recap/wikipedia plot page for Wandavision and Wanda’s story in Mountains of Madness. But episode 7 of Agatha all along is the best episode I’ve seen this year outside Heartstopper. Slow starting series, but it really goes places.
Sorry about your experience Alex🫶 thanks for sharing and I hope this show can help younger viewers in both, how to help a friend in need and how to accept help from others.

The Robin Williams movie Alex is referring to is “Dead Poets Society”- I saw it in the theater.

Technically antique is 100 years old. Vintage being 20 years old makes sense because that’s how people/historians measure generations.

Hey GV thank you for being honest and telling your story and I am glad you are here to tell it. ( ; )
My idea of vintage and classic is still much the same as when I was a child: anything before 1960 or so.
Oh yes! I rankled at that "vintage" comment too. We still have that same camera!😫
