From Xena Warrior Princess Season 5 Episode 22, "Motherhood": Eve is forgiven for her past mistakes and initiated into the Way of Love. In return, Eli gives Xena the power to kill gods, as the Olympians launch their final attack on Xena, Gabrielle and Eve. However, the gods have a back up plan envolving Gabrielle and the Furies.

lol, so many positive reactions. I saw an interview with the producers about this scene, and they where really not happy about it. The director really screwed it up. Xena wasnt suppose to know it was Gabrielle, she was only suppose to see their shadows from outside and trow the chakram and then be shocked when running inside to see what had happend. However the director misunderstoot and thought, whoah, Xena hitting Gabrielle with the shakram in the head, now thats something new! xD
Even Lucy and Renee laughed about it. When Ares went after Eve, Xena gave him a warning, Gabrielle however gets a shakram in the head. xD whahahahaha
But Gabrielle was already with her hands down and the know stuck in Eve, Xena couldn't give a warning shot. Ares still was with his sword raised above his head looking at her.

I just finished the episode where Xena gets revenge on Gabriel for Hope killing Solan, that was something! and heartbreaking.
Men that episode was intense! And That scene in front of the fire place when Xena is basically saying that she is not forgiving her and she is trought with her ... Gaby's final " I love you Xena..." Walking away.... And then Xena tears... Omg ! I remember everything from this scene! Lol

There was a different version of this scene that wasn't used. In the dvd commentary of this episode, Rob said Xena was still outside when she throws the chakrum at a shadow. She didn't know it was Gabrielle. Lucy said she liked that idea better, but they went with this version.
I like that idea better too because it would've dramatically made more sense. Because it would've been more shocking that Gabrielle would've done it and then the realization of the furies that drove Gabrielle to stab Eve so I agree with Lucy there.
Makes more sense. Never understood why Xena, who was at the time not under the influence of the furries, would hit Gabrielle willingly with her Chakram. Even in a heated situation this is completely out of character. So throwing a Chakram at an unknown shadow, just to realize it has been Gabrielle makes so much more sense

The gods could have appeared anytime Xena was out of the room and slaughtered Eve. Heck, they could set the whole place on fire, pulled it apart with a tornado or cursed the town to a pocket dimension. Instead, they kept making slow stupid decisions and forgetting 90% of their powers.
I think it's more so they know they are powerful and like to give mortals the slight bit of hope that they may succeed and then pull the rug from their feet. But them underestimating humans is what leads to their downfall every time.
@@ZestyZinny There's an early episode of Hercules, "The Road to Calydon" where Hera is pissed at a village woman who slept with Zeus. Hera's eyes appear in the sky and ALL the villagers turn to ash. She was presented as a force of nature.
I think the Gods' powers may have been linked to Zeus and Hera as well as the worship they received from their followers. So when Zeus and Hera died, I think that gradually began to weaken them and with more and more of their followers defecting to Eli's way, I think that is what led to a further decrease of their power. Just a theory.. Another theory is that since Eli's God is more powerful than the Olympians, when he granted Xena the power to kill deities, that may have come with an extra set of benefits in the form of unseen protection from the Gods' powers or it could be that Eli's God weakened the Olympians further to the point where Xena could easily take them out.

I love all the drama of this episode but this is definitely NOT one of my favorites. The gods are TOO WEAK to be real! Athens is the only one who fought, the rest look like a bunch of kids with firecrackers.
They only had power when humanity worship in their temples once humans stopped worshipping them and chose Eli way they lost their power making Eli's way of Love more powerful thats the power thats killing the Olympians.

@@deehines5750 was it said in a earlier season or indirectly said in season 5? Because I swear I’ve seen seasons 4-6 a million times and don’t recall them saying that.
@@BlackHammerJeff There were a few lines earlier that seem like they might've been one offs but tie in nicely ("the gods only have power because we let them", etc..) but it really took root in season 5 with Eli. Eli's message of no longer living in fear was scaring the gods and starting the path of enlightenment which led to the twighlight. Xena explains the twighlight, how the Fates predicted a time when humans would no longer need the gods and they would lose their power. Killing Eli triggered the events that let his message spread and led to Eve being born. It was a self fulfilling prophecy.

It was absurd that Eve survived being stabbed with Gabrielle's sai.
She didn’t survive it. She died. 😳… Ares sacrificed his immortality to bring Eve and Gabrielle back to life.
@@dombe985 Yes, but it took her way too much time. People can quickly fall unconcious when they are stabbed by a small knife.
Eve's lungs were impaled using a long and thick blade. THere's no way a human could've lived through that, let alone staying concious for that long.
But the impression I get is that she stuck the sai very vertically and the place where Xena wipes the cloth is almost in the kidney region...
@@astrius4125 People have different bodies. Someone like me would have probably died before even making contact with the knife...But a Roman warrior born of Xena's blood, Calisto's soul, Eli's seed, and Ares training would take much more longer to go down.

I saw somewhere that originally xena didn’t know it was gabrielle attacking eve, but the producers changed it. I think it was a bad move, don’t think xena would have the guts to throw the chakram at gabrielle’s head knowing it could kill her
In the shooting script Xena sees a silhouette through the window and chakrams. Then comes inside and sees it's Gabrielle. The director changed it, and by the time the creators saw the dailies it was too late to fix it. They were pissed though because it's so out of character in the final version.

@@padawannie Yeah, if you ever get a chance to see the commentaries (theyre on the US DVDs) the creator of the show is very angry about the change the director made.
@@jameslyon2338 I think it's 100% in character. This is rage taking over. She's just seen the woman that was to blame for her son, trying to kill her daughter. Of course her first reaction would be to chakram her.
Sometimes I've done things to people I care about, that I'm not exactly proud of, out of pure rage. I think I would've reacted just like Xena.
@@astrius4125 I think it was very out of character. The whole Gabrielle/Hope/Solan storyline arc was done and put to rest. And the fact that the writers even said that this version was wrong proves it.

Jesus Christ, that one fury! I don't know if the actress was bad despite her best efforts, she was given bad direction, or she was just having fun with the role. Either way, that one character stands out like a sore thumb.

Why people are so shocked she killed Gabby? Eve was her daughter. Of course her love for her will be always on another level. Level even Gabby won't reach.
Because it's out of character for her to try to kill Gabrielle like that. In the script Xena was outside of the house and saw a shadow stabbing Eve and she threw the chakram without knowing it was Gabrielle. The director messed up.
