    You have a talent for explaining things very clearly! I consider myself an "intuitive" player, having learned the game at a very young age without any professional coaching. Now that I'm in my 60s playing more frequently, I enjoy hearing you explain how and why different methods of play succeed.

    Hi, do you have a video on hitting inside out? I was watching a video compilation of federers backhands earlier and noticed how many of his shots go inside out, or down the line but bend inside out and it got me really interested in the technique

    Great video. I'm a little older, semi-newbie and play mostly doubles (when I don't have tennis elbow and a sprained knee - sucks to get old . . :-) . When playing doubles, and serving from the Ad side, a forehand on the "backhand" side is used quite a bit, so learning how to hit an inside-out forehand is very useful. Any thoughts about videos on doubles technique and strategy? I've watched some by other teachers, but I like your style best!

    One TH-cam coach also advised recreational players to not chase inside out forehands more than half way to the sideline. If our footwork could take us farther than that to hit a quality shot, we'd probably be at a more elite level. I used to flatter myself for going too wide and then realized that's probably why my inside outs often weren't very good quality.

    Hi Nikola. So an inside in or Inside out forehand cannot be hit from the forehand side of the court?

    Wow. An pure technique video after a while. Of course, the rest of the content on your channel is awesome, but this is the good stuff - the meat. Kudos, Nick - amazing video - very enlightening. Is there anything special one needs to do to hit a regular forehand inside out vs inside in (not specific to running around the backhand). I think in one your older videos, you mentioned picture the ball and not do anything special but, is the change in the backswing or the follow through when hitting inside out vs inside in ?

    • @vicplaystennis9158
      @vicplaystennis9158 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I imagine you have to make contact a little later when going inside out, and a little earlier when going inside in, and facilitating the feet/body positions to accompany the earlier/later contact. I doubt there should be any significant difference in the backswing/follow through.

    • @xabirocks6913
      @xabirocks6913 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@vicplaystennis9158 thanks, makes sense. I do the inside out forehand more accidentally that intentionally. So I was wondering there was a tip/way to get my inside out shot more by design :)

    • @LunarEclipsism1
      @LunarEclipsism1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There is no change in backswing or followthrough when hitting an inside out forehand compared to a standard forehand groundstroke, only in footwork and contact point. Technically you are moving your body into an unusual court position so that your swing mechanics from a normal down-the-line forehand swing produce a crosscourt shot from the backhand wing. Trying to overthink technical aspects of the swing during this shot will be a detriment, you simply need to focus on moving into position and making contact in the appropriate position.

    • @xabirocks6913
      @xabirocks6913 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@LunarEclipsism1 sounds good, thanks for that. I now realize that there's no change to the backswing and follow through. I guess I will just have to close the body a little and hit inside out. Cheers.

    The last time I played (must be more than 10 years ago now), my forehand worked so poorly that I would run around and hit backhands from the forehand side.

    • @Aarush517

      Perhaps I used to hit only backhand from both side, it was only after May'21 I stopped using backhand on my regular forehand side.

    I am a lefty with really bad elbow tendonitis in my left elbow. I do a lot of things right handed including throwing so today I hit right handed forehands with the ball machine. I actually hit them pretty well and I think I could get pretty good at in a few months time. So my question is why are they no pros who play only forehands. Rafa is a natural righty and I would think it would have been natural for him. There is no grip change just one side would hit with a choked up grip. Just curious your thoughts on this. In your video u talked about the power a forehand possesses so why not 2 forehands?

    I think you're wrong at 7:30. Actually you should quickly run a few steps back. It's better to be early on position and then adjust it with small steps forward or backwards. When you're using split step you're barely on time. With faster balls you will be late. When hitting from this position it's important to have your racket far from the body.

    you mention every player having a better forehand. Currently I'm finding my backhand is both far more consistent and easier to hit winners with it. Is it normal to have this sort of lag while learning the game?

    • @ogpurple8712
      @ogpurple8712 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is not a problem, as he says that most people will have a better forehand. Look at David Nalbandian who could easily rip the ball on his backhand. Especially at a lower level and recreational level, it is definitely not a lag in your game, but the mechanics of a forehand allow for more aggressiveness and options than the usual backhand. If your backhand is more solid, embrace it and work on improving.

      @@IntuitiveTennis I searched many videos on inside out and this one stand right up there.
      My unique understanding from Nicolas returns in video that swing mostly going horizontal (like flat forehand return) and that's why its going fast and close to net towards Advantage side court.
      Is this correct observation. When I practising it going bit outside beyond baseline. And if I want to keep inside then speed is getting reduced drastically.
      Please give me mental clarity.
      Thanks- your video raised my level by 60% with videos.
