    I found in walmart health drinks Nestle thick it up, beverage and food thickener. If you cant find Thick it bran this is another bran found at the Canadian Walmart. For all the Canadians that cant find Thick it powder in a store. It a usa product.

    I wonder if the heat press would get hot enough to activate the chemical reaction. I wouldn't close the lid, but it might be worth a shot. Kind of like drying a fresh sublimation sheet before pressing it. Or maybe you could close the lid since it's a cutting board and its thickness would be less likely to warp.

    • @mrcraftypants
      @mrcraftypants 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Stephanie! 🤩 So the heat press won't be hot enough to activate the chemical reaction unless it's closed. I've tried doing this before using the heat press closed on the wood and it did not produce very good results. The areas didn't darken very much and the board warped from the heat.

    How do you keep the wood from cupping when you apply the heat? Every time I heat mine up the wood cups badly

  • @lynnoverton7747
    @lynnoverton7747 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That is super neat. Can you heat it up with the easy press or a larger heat press?

    Hi Michael
    I live in Australia and can’t buy Thick it however it’s seems to be the same as a baby food thickener or a cornstarch can I use that instead ??

    • @Panda_fighter
      @Panda_fighter ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! Mix 1 tablespoon cornstarch with 100mls of water (a little less than half cup) in microwave safe dish. Microwave for 90 seconds stopping frequently to stir so mixture does not bubble over. Remove from microwave and let sit to cool and thicken up, then add 1 tablespoon Ammonium Chloride. Not sure about baby food thickener, if you try it please let me know how it works out. Someone named Noe Charbonneau originally posted the above cornstarch recipe. Try it, you will not be disappointed! You do not want Thick-It, it is expensive compared to cornstarch! Pretty sure Michael just wants to use his stash and it is less steps than cornstarch, so I would do same if I already invested in it. 100% better way to go it cornstarch though.

    • @mrcraftypants
      @mrcraftypants 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Susan 🤩 that's a great question! I've tried an embossing heat gun and not only did it still char, but it took well over half an hour. If anything, I would use a regular heat gun with an adjustable temperature. You can also use a magic eraser to help remove any areas that charred too much.

    • @susanruppel434
      @susanruppel434 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mrcraftypants thank you for getting back to me. I think my husband may have an adjustable heat gun. If he does, I'll give it a try and let you know 👍
