Just found your video, great information and the 135 qe in .30 cal I own is a great shooter. I just purchased another in the synthetic stock version form Pyramyd air on sale for $229. Please keep up the great videos.

High 500 to 600 fps, only good out to max of maybe 50 yards or so, right? Now if that fps was up around 800 to 900 fps it would be sold out on the spot and have a waiting list 5 years long! Great review. Wish you would do more on the Evanix Sniper too. How about the new Ataman 9mm?

Good review, I'm definitely interested in seeing more on this air rifle for sure. Just being .30cal in a break barrel has me wanting one. But, couple comments about having lighter pellets below I think would be a great idea if you wanted to extend the range some. Hope to see more on this soon.
+americanairgunhunter you made a hunting video with hatsan 125 sniper .25. please compare these two. l have a 125 .25 and it feels like the highest limit for a springer. lt is superb in any contest. l' m a springer fan and l' m very curious about this .30 cal. But...is it a better performer?
Has Hatsan addressed its piston seal issues with this gun? It will be interesting to see if Hatsan will lead the market with a 35 fpe plus bb, with better velocity. NIce gun, no less.
This looks like a fun gun for blasting cans but I wouldn't want to hunt with it because the pellets are moving way too slow. Think I'd go with a pcp for thirty caliber.

Hi Jim, I thought that the Hatsan 135 vortex was a gas piston not a springer, I contacted Hatsan awhile back when I was doing research on big bore brakebarrel air rifle's. They said that the 135 vortex QE carnivore .30 caliber has a gas piston not a spring
You are correct. The gun I received was the first shipped stateside and was a conventional spring piston. I was told later that a decision was made to only import the gas piston..... to be honest I don't know if there was a decision to only manufacture gas piston as well.
If any of you break the front cross bolt, (bolt with the front sling on it), and Hatsan has not made a upgraded bolt, (it has design flaws), I am making my own and some extra, and I can sell you one. It will not be really cheap because I am only making a few on my manual lathe and little cnc mill, but it should not break like the stock bolt has broken on me twice, (after about 600 shots each). It will be made of a tough alloy called Monel 405, (or inconel), a high nickel content tough alloy with high strength and high corrosion resistance, (It will not be blued). It will stick out of the right side of the stock less than .5”, but that is what it takes to make the bolt solid all the way through the gun. You will be able to attach your original sling hoop to it, just like the stocker. I am making a new bolt, crown nut, and the pin that you “stake” the sling ring to, (all out of the good material). It will not have the little lock screw, but you will be able to tighten it with a quarter, or the tool you got with the gun to tighten the cheek rest screws, (and not scratch your stock). If you break the stock bolt. Get a new one from Hatsan first. If it is the same bolt, (not upgraded, and it will break again), you can get a perfectly machined one from me that will not break. I am making a few of them just in case you want to shoot your gun. e-mail Earthsurferfun@yahoo.com My name is Doug
It is about fun. Yes, you are correct that a good .22 springer would likely be a better choice. However, I do not have a .30 yet, and the only springer I still own is my trusty 48 side cocker in .22. I think I will get one just for fun. Then I will have every cal available from .177 to 9mm.... Airgunning is a disease. There is no cure.
Just got it in walnut for 227 new 30 cal just to have it at that price is worth it I know it's a heavy caulking gun I feel bad for the game at the other end
I know this is wayyyy old.. But what does one keep in an outdoor gun safe?.. Im thinking about getting the gas piston version of this and was just checking out videos on it... It seems very impressive... Im looking at it as a survival break barrel.. (Along with my elcheapo gamo swarm .22)
I own a wonderful hatsan .25 cal air rifle, that shots about 650 fps with about 28 grain, so if I was to put a heaver .25 pellets in there like a hun jin
You should always point the gun down when closing the breach, it prevents the possibility of the pellet falling out or damaging the breach seal it's common sense and good practice as dry firing a spring rifle can cause serious damage to the gun.
Ceri Jones The pellets seat snugly into the barrel of this rifle, and after a couple thousand shots a pellet has never fallen out while cycling the gun. If one did fall out I would simply break the barrel and reload. About 15 years ago I dry fired a magnum springer to failure in testing, and eventually it did fail. But it is not a one dry fire and the gun is dead situation. So I'm with you on not dry firing a springer, which I believe is common knowledge, but not with respect on how I cycle a gun. That is unless the breach is throated to accept a wider range of pellets, but then it's obvious you need to adapt.
I only point out that it is good practice as not all guns or pellets are the same, I have seen other peoples pellets catch their skirt in the breach seal causing the rubber to damage, as I said good practice, gravity can be a b***h.
I’ve heard that this gun is a bit experimental and sometimes the extreme power of it wears it out sooner than less powerful springers. At nearly 35 foot pounds of energy it’s close to the 40 foot pounds of energy that’s considered to be the minimum for lethality to humans so it’s got a lot of power. I can see it being a great coyote and coon and possum and groundhog gun but not the most ideal for plinking and squirrel and rabbit shooting for pest control in a backyard garden scenario. My Diana model 34 classic .22 air rifle shooting the H&N 16 grain hornet pellets I shoot from it is better for that or even the Diana 350 magnum .22 like I used to have with my gun being under 20 foot pounds of energy and the 350 magnum being under 25 foot pounds of energy
Think you'd have to mount it on a tank. A tank crew would be needed to cock it, and the bidirectional recoil would rattle your teeth even inside the tank....... but it would be cool :)
+Ray Maxwell Hi Ray, I had both the UK and Turkish Patriot, cool rifles. Like the Patriot, 40 pellets is a session will leave your head rattled. But I don't mind that in a hunting rifle intended to be shot only a few times per session.
Don't remember exactly in this video, but believe I used a Leapers 3-9 variable on UTG medium profile mounts. That's what's sitting on the rifle right now and has been for a long time. These scopes are cost effective, very robust, good glass, and I frequently use them on scope eating springers.....
Hello, I would like to by this rifle with the spring piston but can't find it anywhere.. Did you just made the mistake by saying that this is the spring piston rifle or you know where I can find it? The only one I can find is Hatsan 135 QE Vortex Air Rifle.. Please advise
Hello Michael, the gun I was shooting was a pre-release rifle and it used a mechanical spring. In the release rifle the decision was made to only sell the gas ram version, at least in the States, I don't know about other regions. However I have shot the gas ram version since and it shoots very similar, but with a shorter lock time.
Wow, I was wondering the same thing. I have the same exact gun in .22 and .30 and they are both gas piston. You have yourself a rare gem americanairgunhunter! Thanks for the videos partner! Much appreciated and you are the one who actually played a part in me purchasing the two Hatsans that I own!
what an awesome review I am looking forward to the release of that rifle could you please get me an insight on the release date. So what was the shot spread?
+T&T BBQ T&T BBQ Thanks, About 10 fps which is as likely differences in pellet uniformity as the gun.... insignificant impact on POI anyway you look at it.
Hi Mr Jim I have a hatsan 125 sniper vortex gas piston in 22 cal I am having problems with scope if I put a sciope on it works for awhile and then it tares up then when trying to adjust back it seems like I run out windage and elevation can you please help me with this problem what would be the best scope and mounts for this air rifle
Not Jim here, but I have this gun and had the same problems. I trashed a Vortex scope within 300 shots, and it never held zero well. Now I use the UTG true hunter 3-9x40, (but switching to a Leupold scope soon). The UTG is a cheap and inexpensive scope with a lot of features. $100.00 and it actually comes with good weaver mounts that work great on this gun. But the eye relief is short for me and this gun, the head movement you can have and keep a full view is small, and the clickers are vague---but it will hold a zero. That hard part is getting there. I have not tried the Leupold Freedom 3-9x33 EFR, (can use shorter weaver mounts), but I sprung for it, (and adding a mill dot reticle in their custom shop--which they charger too much for, but my gun needs at least 5 mill dots because of pellet drop on this slower pellet), because one reviewer who I trust, (Cyclops videos), said that it is about the only scope he knows of that holds up to magnum springers. I saw a vid of his comparing the Leupold to the UTG I have. The Leupold scope does not have as many features, but is in the good quality range, (and have a lifetime warranty, which I am finding with Vortex sounds better than their actual deal is). The glass is better, the eye relief will be better for me, (the UTG scope needs a short stock for good eye relief) and the clickers work like they should. IF I dial in 5 or 25 clicks one direction, I want a scope that will do that precisely, and go back to it's original point if I go back. If the scope does not hold up, for the money they are charging me with the promise it will, I will just keep sending it back for a different one, (making sure I follow their mounting instructions perfectly, even with an inch/pound torque wrench if specified, so they have no excuse). Good clickers and glass are worth it to me. I wish I could tell you I shot 1000 rounds with my gun with the Leupold scope, so I can tell you for sure it is worth the money, but I have not. For $100 bucks, I am positive you can get the UTG working well enough to hunt with it. You can get the Leupold for $300.00 I have seen, and you may not need the mill dots like I do. They are soaking me for $540 to build the scope with mill dots for me. It better hold up Leupold, our you will never get rid of me. :)
Jim, good informative video, thanks for posting. Am I correct that you were stating it shoots high 500 Feet to 600 per second? It was great meeting with you at the 2016 Shot Show. Best Wishes.
+AirTanksForSale.com Hi Joe, I couldn't remember exactly, when doing the video (have about 20 new guns I'm shooting right now). Going back over my notes it was doing 580 fps with a 11 fps spread over a 20 shot string. I'd hope to see that a bit higher, and also some lighter pellets for the springer. Good seeing you in LV, sorry we didn't have more time to catch up, but those things are crazy (as you know).
Greetings. Thanks for the information. Could you give me the model number for that rifle, please? I have not been able to find it in any online store of usa.! Thanks Frank
You will see the whole line of air rifles hatsans has! Chk out the 130S QE 30 cal. Same but in composite stock. 229.00 on pyramid air and all sellers, can get it on Amazon too.
Minor pros and cons with either, though I don't think it matters that much. However, I'm not sure if they even continued making the conventional spring model, they did not import them to the US after the first couple rifles..
I bought the 35cal after 350 shots I feel that to arm it is much easier than it was in the beginning. to add is the version with the spring, and in the beginning it was really difficult.is this normal?
Hello Alfonso. The pre-production rifle I received was a conventional spring piston. It was decided by the importer (HatsanUSA) that they would only bring in the gas piston, after I'd filmed this. Not sure if Hatsan continued to manufacture the conventional spring piston version. The performance specs were about the same, with the usual difference between the two technologies being noted
I have serval different name brand air rifles and just hit 2 Hatsan air rifles, one is a 135 Sniper .25 and the other is the newest Hatsan 135 Vortex.30 caliber. The Hatsan air rifles are the only air rifles that I have are not great accurate rifles. I shit over 300 pellets in both rifles and still I have never hit a target even with the Artillery Hold. My other air rifles such as my Crosman Benjamin NP XL .25, Gamo .177, Benjamin .22 no mater how I'm holding them, no mater how matter yards out I'm shooting I can hit the bullseye every time all day without missing a shit. But when it comes down to these Hatsan air rifles I can not hit the target even when it's 8-10 yards. I will be returning the Hatsan air rifles ASAP this week. 2 Hatsan air rifles and no accuracy is not good in my book.
This one was a mechanical spring, and was the first shipped to the USA before release. Hatsan USA decided to only import the Gas piston on release, and I don't knowe if they continued manufacturing the mechanical spring piston gun.
TOO BAD wish Hatsan would have gone with the springer for production . The gas filled pistons are a joke. I gotten 11-14 months out of them with moderate shooting.
+James Moreau Hi James, haven't heard from you in a while, off traveling? Yes, I sometimes take a springer as a backup for just that reason, but not with this gun. Just got it and want to test it out hunting before using it in the roll of backup.
+americanairgunhunter you're right Jim. I moved to Korea in 2014 and am still here for work. Even though Evanix is here I haven't beem able to really stay involved with airguns or hunting here. There's no airgun culture that I'm aware of actually. Either way I'm still glad I saw this video in my feed. What's your favorite go to springer?
My favorite springer is still probably my old mid power Beeman C1. I spend about 20% of my year in Tokyo these days, but am lucky enough to get lots of hunting and shooting when I'm home. There is hunting in Korea and I work with the Evanix guys a bit, can ask for more info and post when I get it.
Jim I would be incredibly grateful if you could link me up with more info on that. I emailed around my first year here and got no real leads. Any help would he amazing. As for the beeman, how can you go wrong? With the german ones at least.
But for god sakes keep one hand on the barrel while loading pellets especially with the cocking force of a hatsan even there pistols. If not i keep some baggies and ice around the house might be handy while your wife picks up your fingers off the ground. I dont like to tell people how to run there life. Im just looking out for you and anyone that dabbles with spring aiguns and wants to keep there fingers
Lucas, thanks for the concern. I know the conventional wisdom is keep hold of the barrel, but in 30 years of shooting hundreds of springers from every manufacturer in the world, I have not had a single case of an AD or release with the barrel broken. I've seen the few photos floating around of smashed fingers, but when you consider the millions of springers of various ages and state of repair in use, it's exceedingly rare. I guess the responsible thing is to tell everyone always to keep a grip on the broken barrel while loading ...... but I probably won't follow my own advice. If I smash my fingers, the only one responsible is me, and the "I told you so's" will be deserved! BTW: I ride my mountain bike without a helmet sometimes, which is undoubtedly more risky..
I do see your piont from a personal experience I had a b3 Chinese air rifle that woulndnt lock up every other shot i would be missing some fingers if not having that pratice hardware into me but the gun had a broken part inside when i disassemble it
Actually I do check my content and this statement has been explained many times here, I guess you missed it. The rifle in this video does use a mechanical spring. This was a pre-production gun sent to HatsanUSA for evaluation, and at that time it was planned to be available as both a traditional mechanical spring and a gas piston spring. The rifle I was shipped to evaluate was the mechanical spring version. Later the decision was made by Hatsan USA only to import the gas piston version. This has been discussed by both Hatsan USA and myself.
Thank you for the explanation. I read around more and see what you’re saying. With knowing that the video makes more sense too (as does the flash up, suck-up, product complimentary comments text)...I did always wonder why there was no spring version. Although I don’t think Hatsan Tk HQ should be influenced by HatsanUSA, as they provide a very comprehensive product range otherwise... I’ve seen this before quite a while ago. This time I looked at your other videos for more information and saw so many shooting animals videos decided to hassle you. Ok, you can hunt so save it. But did you know there’s no such thing as a pest. There are pathogens and parasites in nature but no such thing as pests. You’re a thinking, perhaps considerate, man. You work it out.
Waiting on pins and needles! Please get us a video of this thing hunting... I can't wait to see what it is capable of!
Great , straight forward ,honest review . Sure can hear the Authority at which the pellet hits target . Good work Sir

A supressor doesn't quiet the sonic crack anyhow. It is only to quiet the pressure discharged at the muzzle, air or firearm.
Good assessment. I agree.
Thanks Jim!

The fpe of a Hatsan .25 and .30 are almost equal, with a very (very) slight edge to the .30
You should always point the gun down when closing the breach, it prevents the possibility of the pellet falling out or damaging the breach seal it's common sense and good practice as dry firing a spring rifle can cause serious damage to the gun.
My Diana model 34 classic .22 air rifle shooting the H&N 16 grain hornet pellets I shoot from it is better for that or even the Diana 350 magnum .22 like I used to have with my gun being under 20 foot pounds of energy and the 350 magnum being under 25 foot pounds of energy
the only thing a supressor cant supress is the crack
would love to have a break barrel around 60 FPE :D
Think you'd have to mount it on a tank. A tank crew would be needed to cock it, and the bidirectional recoil would rattle your teeth even inside the tank....... but it would be cool :)
that looks good i had a webley patriot in 25 i thought that was a big pellet
+Ray Maxwell Hi Ray, I had both the UK and Turkish Patriot, cool rifles. Like the Patriot, 40 pellets is a session will leave your head rattled. But I don't mind that in a hunting rifle intended to be shot only a few times per session.
nice video
Hello Jim,
Big Fan, It looks like the pellet is keyholing at 20 yards??
Regards
Vermont airgunner
Nice.....
this is a neat gun. how does Hatsan compare to Weihrauch in terms of quality?
+Thel Vadam thanks that what I've thought. I own a Beeman R1 and R10. I doubt I'd be happy with the Hatsan
How bad can the recoil be ? The .460 Weatherby Magnum has a bit of recoil.
Scope and mounts for this rifle please.
Don't remember exactly in this video, but believe I used a Leapers 3-9 variable on UTG medium profile mounts. That's what's sitting on the rifle right now and has been for a long time. These scopes are cost effective, very robust, good glass, and I frequently use them on scope eating springers.....
mooi geweer
dunk u wel!
Is this spring version still available?
What’s the decimeter level?
When Will it come on the market? I dont see it yet on pyramid air
+joznew1 Think Hatsan will release soon if they have not yet done so. My understanding was right after SHOT Show (which ended last Friday).
Pellet speed? ( in a m/sec please)
Thanx
Hello,
I would like to by this rifle with the spring piston but can't find it anywhere..
+T&T BBQ T&T BBQ Thanks, About 10 fps which is as likely differences in pellet uniformity as the gun.... insignificant impact on POI anyway you look at it.
can this rifle be used to hunt coyote?
I am sure you can use it to hunt coyote.
I have this rifle and it hits really hard
what type of scope are you using?
Hatsans USA
@@schmedlywhiplash6267 Thanks !!
You will see the whole line of air rifles hatsans has! Chk out the 130S QE 30 cal. Same but in composite stock. 229.00 on pyramid air and all sellers, can get it on Amazon too.
@@schmedlywhiplash6267 Thanks
@@inblindmodeler8786 Yip nooo prob man!
hello sir!!!this rifle is beter with spring or gas piston??i want to buy it but i dont know what is beter!!!
Minor pros and cons with either, though I don't think it matters that much. However, I'm not sure if they even continued making the conventional spring model, they did not import them to the US after the first couple rifles..
I bought the 35cal after 350 shots I feel that to arm it is much easier than it was in the beginning. to add is the version with the spring, and in the beginning it was really difficult.is this normal?
my hatsan 125 .25 trigger broke how can I get the whole trigger assembly?
+jose ramirez I'd try contacting Hatsan USA
Did you say spring?? I thought this only came in gas piston
What pellet are you using?
JSB Exact 44.75 grain and Hatsan Big Bore Vortex 44.75 grain worked best for me, and the Predator Polymags also shot pretty well in this rifle.
how long is the barrel?
12"
36grain ball what FPS?
+serkan sarısaçak Haven't tried roundball yet, that would be interesting and I'll give it a go.
Are you sure this is a "spring" and not a gas piston?!
Hello, yes I am sure. The rifle I was using was a pre-production model and it had a spring before the decision to produce only the gas piston version.
Isn’t it a gas piston?
This one was a mechanical spring, and was the first shipped to the USA before release. Hatsan USA decided to only import the Gas piston on release, and I don't knowe if they continued manufacturing the mechanical spring piston gun.
Since its only 600-700 ft per second I'd say its a 35 yrds.. Maybe 50yrds too expensive for such short distances. Pcp wins again ;).
Untill you run out of air. In the end, the break barrel always wins. :-)
TOO BAD wish Hatsan would have gone with the springer for production . The gas filled pistons are a joke. I gotten 11-14 months out of them with moderate shooting.
👅👍👍
Do you bring this along in case any of your PCP's ever fail you and you need a backup that doesn't require compressed air?
+americanairgunhunter Jim you could email me info as well if you don't mind. james.r.moreau@gmail.com
What scope was that ???
not impressed
I do see your piont from a personal experience I had a b3 Chinese air rifle that woulndnt lock up every other shot i would be missing some fingers if not having that pratice hardware into me but the gun had a broken part inside when i disassemble it
This Hatsan has an anti-bear trap safety. It simply can't come up even if you pull the trigger.
It’s not a metal spring. Do you even listen to yourself?
You work it out.
how long is the barrel?
270mm on the QE models, 450mm on the other models
