These are Edifier’s S2000 Mark 3’s, a pair of bookshelf speakers that are pretty fancy. They have planer magnetic tweeters, 5.5 inch woofers, and the most premium feel to them I’ve seen. They do cost a pretty penny though, with an MSRP of £450, so are they worth it? Well, lets find out.

I "downgraded" my 15+ years old 5.1 to Edifier stereo couple of months ago, and very very happy with it.
I live in Cambodia, where auditioning before purchase is supposed to be heroically challenging. Turns out there's an authorized Edifier dealer here, and he had both these and the s3000pro's. Considering how much the review community preferred the s3000pro's, and how much larger and more expensive they are, I was extremely grateful to have the chance to listen to both models in the showroom, because these -- the s2000-mkiii's -- absolutely won it. The 3000's sounded bloated, lazy, shrill at the top ... seriously not good. And these sounded fantastic, with precisely the unfussy aplomb that I've always associated with the brand.
My salesman was surprisingly laid back about my findings (? perhaps he heard the same things I did ?) and there was positively zero pushback when it came time to break him the bad news. Even more interestingly, every Edifier model in this dealer's inventory was dramatically less expensive than the generally accepted retail price, by which happy means did I leave the store with these, new in the box, for only $300 USD.
Strengths:
Noticeably flat response, shocking detail resolution, fantastic imaging, terrific sound at low volumes. Clean, silky smooth highs, improbably liquid midrange, surprisingly deep given their small size. Terrific PRAT especially on bass decay. Gob-smacking value for the money.
Weaknesses:
Laggy and user-unfriendly remote, hard-wired power cord instead of IEC, no asynchronous USB input, lacks a subwoofer output if you genuinely need that last octave. Won't sound their best with casual installation and placement. Larger and heavier than they look on TH-cam,
Verdict:
For the special type of audiophile/home theater enthusiast who doesn't want his or her perceptions of the equipment to get in the way of the experience, it is quite literally impossible to get a better sounding system in any configuration for this kind of money. These are a hook-them-up-and-never-think-about-any-of-this-again proposition, and quite frankly not everyone will respond favourably to that. And yes, more expensive offerings out there from other brands might blow the doors off of these, but the folly of A/B testing is the missing awareness that you won't actually have both A and B in your system at the same time.
I have the s351db ...awesome 2.1 speakers
Nice one.
I use an external amp with two bookshelf speakers and a center speaker with my record player, PC and an aux cable for my phone and the sound is ok considering I use 1990s bookshelf speakers from a dead hifi set
I love mine. Which dac pre Amp would you recommend? Thanks for the great video. These kick ass as home theater
Hmm, I've been looking for something to upgrade my TV's audio with and heard that bookshelf decent bookhself speakers would be better than a basic soundbar... But there you'd probably want something that you can expand on
Did you listen to the speakers in the room you recorded the video in? It's possible the room (and its furnishings) affected the prominence of the higher frequencies.
Do these speakers make a noticeable hiss via Bluetooth? Thanks!
Help me choose what to upgrade from edifier r2000db 2.0. to s2000mkiii
it's worth it?
The speaker is a Midfield, and you used it as a nearfield, thats the reason why you think the tweeter is harsh.
Their product page “Near-Field Active Tri-Amped” good to know however
hi big QUESTION : worth the dollars to use for TV SPEAKERS for Movies / Sports / Every day TV and Music ? thx ...cheers from Canada
so, after a few moths of experience with s3000 pro I decided to return to s2000 mkiii. I was so eager to advance to a300, but looks like I can't handle this price barrier in my head, that's just way too much for me and they're not that easily placed in a room which brings me additional business.
It is around 318 usd on my country on 6.6 sales. Is it worth buying🧐
You didn't add the other Edifier review card to the end of the video like you promised
How can I update this set up? Can I add a DAC or an amp to these speakers? I have these speakers and want to add something to these to hear clear warm music. My inputs till now has been via streaming music like Spotify. How can I use these better? Currently I am using this with Bluetooth only
You can add a DAC via the AUX IN, but you can not add an amp. I do think it would improve the sound quality.
Klipsch the fives or edifier s2000 mk3? For movies ando music? Thanks!!!!!!
Klipsch
If connecting to these speakers via Bluetooth, is the audio in stereo or mono?
Mono?....c'mon bruh....s2000mkiii is mono?
They sound good for music but the sound is really weird when I play video games. How can I fix this?
Kup dobrą kartę dźwiękową do pc.
thanks for not playing sound cuz thats not what we wanted -_-
Hi, just wondering as I'm currently building a pc whats better? A) i5 10400f + rx 590 & 16gb ram. Or B) i5 10400f + gtx 1660 & 16gb ram? Thanks. And nice video.
Gtx 1660 is better. If you havent already then ryzen 5 5000 series could be good as well
For me it is $315/£263 in Pakistan
this fancy speakers only cost about usd 250 recently online in China, omg
where? :) could you send the link?

S2000MK 3 445 ( CA ) 325 ( USD ) Cyber Monday price
R1850DB 240 ( CA ) 175 ( USD ) + a sub
R1280DB 190 ( CA ) 140 ( USD ) + a sub....................these prices are here in CANADA
this question is for everyone that wants to answer....thank you in Advance....cheers from Canada
Good review, but really??? Why did you spend half the time talking down your ability to review the speakers?? If that's the case don't review the speakers in the first place. You made excellent points then basically said "I have no idea what I am talking about"....
While obviously having some idea of what you are are talking about..... Give yourself some more credit buddy..
Your not reviewing a $30,000 set of speakers they are $500.... We all get they are not going to be used at the next Woodstock..
Missing the option to add a sub is a deal breaker for me.
They really don't need a sub, trust me
I have them. No sub needed indeed! Plenty of bass.
How low can it get?>
No sub required, the windows shake
I'm going to get an optical audio 1x3 splitter and see if I can connect these bookshelf speakers to the subwoofer from the S350DB. In theory it should work. lol
Can it be pair with T5 sub?
Nope, has no sub connection option
it can if you buy a creative soundblaster x4 run the source to the card then speakers and sub connect to that
Cmoon, all that matters is the sound...no need to explain what you can fonf of the website ....
Que será mejor estos o vizio sb3651 5.1?
P R E m i U M
Why did they destroy their nice design with this ugly "hi res audio" yellow square? Also - I'm not sure about this - it seems that the front led is always on? Not good if I want them as a tv speaker
I have a pair of these great speakers and they are fantastic. Your crappy review worth noting. Go back to school and stop giving reviews if you are not a professional audiophile reviewer.
Not HiFi sorry. Bluetooth uncompressed. If you want Hi Resolution sound, invest in brands that are building in networking ethernet and lan, WiFi for playing back uncompressed cd quality music with streaming services like Tidal, and better still, Qobuz.
