Excellent review, I just ordered these!
You mention USB connections a lot, but these speakers don't have a USB jack. I plan to come out of my cable box with a Toslink cable for my TV, but what would you recommend for audio, when I don't have a PC output? Is there an inexpensive music player or MP3 player that you could recommend loading my music files onto, and then pugging into the speakers? My phone supports Bluetooth 5 and aptX HD, so maybe I'll be okay connecting wirelessly?

I'd suggest Optical for the best audio fidelity, you can plug in your phone, but you'll have to use 3.5mm to RCA. But yes, maybe Bluetooth will be the easiest hands-free option, especially given you have aptxHD

The room i have is pretty small, about 16m2 and i do not need or want deep sub base because of neighbours and i like the idea of bookshelf speakers that is a good compromise between listening to music and watching tv. What would you suggest:
    (Edifier s2000mkiii )
    Or
    (klipsch R51pm + klipsch r120 12” sub )
Main use will be music listening with some movies here and there. Planning on hooking this to tv in living room for now and when budget allows later move this system to a small room with computer and buy a 5.1 for the living room to go with tv.
I kind of like both - edifier for the overall sound + bass (no need of sub, but is it boomy and am i loosing mids and vocal crispness?) , and will the klipsch give more refined mids and highs and sub can solve the bass issue?
