I installed these on my model 3, two years ago at the time of purchase. I've since added 63,000 miles. I didn't notice any change in sound but since the model 3 rides quite low I've scraped the front plate several time entering and exiting certain business entrances. 1) It has held up great. 2) It has protected better than the plastic OEM skid plate would have. I recommend. Installation was easy,. I used the blue locktite to ensure the bolts would stay in place permanently.
Put jack stands under your car even with the ramps. You're supposed to double up when it comes to safety. If the ramps fail, you won't get squashed.
Good call, when it comes to safety you can't have too much of it, right?
I was wondering about that as well, thanks!
Its so cool you can do stuff like this yourself. It saves lots of xost on labor
I try to be as handy as possible and hopefully these videos will show others they can do it as well.
Considering how susceptible those things are down there. This is certainly something I would order and have even before I get the car. Crap can still happen but you've greatly lowered the risk if you run over an obstacle that's unavoidable.
what's the official word on using these? do they hurt range? is there a good reason why OEM is the soft flexible composite? wouldn't they do these standard if it was the best option?
Great video and product!
It really is!
Did you apply any thread lock when reinstalling the aluminum plates? Thanks for posting this video!
Unfortunately, I did not have any handy but that is probably is a good idea. Happy to hear the video is worth watching and might be helping others.
Y I believe the T-Sportline and at least the Tesla aero shield install instructions, mention Loctite for the bolts
I have same ramp. is it rated for tesla?
Will these skid plates fit on a 2023 Chinese Built Model 3 RWD Single Motor?
Thanks for the video. What year is your model Y? Tsportline is currently out of stock of their skid plate and I checked at amazon and their front skid plate have 2 long tail on the side. I cannot find exactly the same as the Tsportline. My model Y is 2023 Dec Freemont built.
2023 Model Y Performance. Man looks like these things are selling like hot cakes, were you able to use my link in the description?
Yes, I purchased but forgot to use the promo code Sunchi. So I won't get any tumbler
would you say the sound deadening material made it any quieter?
I like to think it has but difficult to tell unless I drive a model y without the skid plates and then ours.
what tire model you had on your model y ? Looks nice.

Thank you.
Do they make a skid plate that protects the entire battery
I haven't seen one myself.
I’m surprised tesla didn’t do a good job protecting those coolant lines. I’ve seen story where someone ran over something on the road causing a non-protected PLASTIC coolant connection into main battery pack…Tesla’s solution was to replace the whole battery pack 🤦♂️
Seems like the coolant line guards a must at the least. I have heard and read stories on reddit about people damaging those lines pretty easily after running over an object that was unavoidable.
This just happened to my 2024 tesla y 2 weeks ago. A ran over piece a hard object on the highway and it damaged the coolant line and power train hose. After seeing how poorly they protect all of these expensive components like the battery, i am convince that they do it to make money with tones of reapairs. I know that people will be filling lawsuits for this.
@@darwinzr764 sorry to hear about this! Did you end up replacing entire battery?
This happened to me 3 weeks ago, 2024 model Y was totaled
Does the bolt on the new coolant protector long that touches the coolant line? I saw one post in a blog that one of the screw almost pinch the coolant line?
Not at all.
Yes, the bolt comes with it too long, and will touch the coolant line,I have to go to the hardware store to get the 25 mm long bolt.
Does this fit a 2024?
Yes I believe there weren’t major changes from the 2023 and 2024 model Ys
Did you notice any increased sound dampning ?
We have not taken it on a road trip yet but we are heading to the Grand Canyon in a couple weeks so I will be able to test this out first hand and let you know. I was surprise to see how much dirt, sand and debris I found on the underside of the stock panels.
+1 on knowing if it helps sound dampening
@@kymitsuouritsu1919 I will let you guys know how it goes.
Difficult to tell the difference without being able to drive a stock set up and then with the aftermarket skid plates right after. I also didn’t measure decibel levels.
But I can say there are no odd, out of place sounds or noise with the aftermarket plates. No rattles or rock chipping sounds either. The car rides smooth and the road noise is minimal with the new plates. Overall really happy with the set up.
I installed these on my model 3. I didn't notice any chance in sound but since the car rides low I've scraped the front plate several time entering and exiting certain business entrances and 1) It has held up great and 2) It has protected better than the plastic OEM skid plate would have. I recommend.
Hi I am wondering if you can tell me what are these parts called. It’s the small part right next to rear skid plate that goes toward the wheel.
I’m sorry I’m not following. Can you be a little more descriptive?
Promo codes don’t work
Sorry about that, thanks for letting me know, T Sportline must have ended that promotion. You should still be able to use my code for the free tumbler, let me know if it works.
That OEM skid plate looks thin and flimsy
