    🙄 Sorry for the 4 seconds where you see my empty bed.
    I just found the booboo that I made in editing. My program crashed and I didn't trust my instinct to go back and check it for the millionth time. I had issues getting it past copyrite so I don't want to risk reuploading the fixed version and potentially having it blocked. I know that sounds lazy, sorry! Still trying to make friends with technology.

    It makes sense that people often say they would love to live like a hobbit (for various reasons) when watching these films. The author basically wrote the hobbits to have his ideal lifestyle- spending the day tending the garden, having no need for shoes, drinking & smoking to pass the time & eating twelve meals a day.

    Something the movie doesn't make clear is that from the time BIlbo leaves the Shire and the ring is put in that envelope and when Gandalf returns to the Shire and he and Frodo put the ring in the fire to figure out that it is the one ring that 17 years pass. So also when Frodo and Bilbo see each other in Rivendell they haven't seen each other in nearly 20 years.

    • @inbedwithmovies3228
      @inbedwithmovies3228  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I’d read that. That explains Bilbo having aged so much. I just assumed he was ageing super quick without the ring.

    How did Gollum know about Shire: so when Bilbo found the Ring on the floor of Gollum's cave, he put it in his pocket and forgot about it. Then, when he met Gollum, he was still naive and dumb enough to properly introduce himself. When after some time Gollum found his precious missing, he came to the conclusion that this Baggins is a thief.
    Frodo is actually 50 years old in the books by the time he sets off to Rivendell, but keeping the Ring after Bilbo's departure "conserved" him in the age of 33, so he too looks much younger than he actually is. Pippin, on the other hand, is around 26 so in hobbits' age he's not even considered legally adult.

    Dumbledor wasn't exactly based on Gandalf in a one to one sense, but he was filling the trope roll that Gandalf created of the wise old mentor who is somehow still physically capable of holding his/her own with people much younger than him/her.
    However, being a massive influence on Harry Potter, she did get the name Dumbledor from the giant bees found in Beorn's house in the Hobbit.
    (also it was Fawkes teh Phoenix that saved Dumbledor, prompting Kingsley to say his immortal line, "That Dumbledor's got style!")

    Not in the future. The events at the beginning where Isildur gets the ring take place at the end of the Second Age. The events of these movies lead up to the end of the Third Age of the world. So the last alliance of Elves and Men began around 3430 of the Second Age (S.A.) This story (The War of the Ring) takes place in 3019 of the Third Age (T.A.) In Tolkien's reckoning, we live in either the fifth or sixth age of the world, so this is all technically in the past.

    Some of the Hobbit children listening to Bilbo's story are the director, Peter Jackson's children.
    11:15 Bilbo told him his name and where he came form and he knows Bilbo took the ring.
    14:04 'Halflings' are Hobbits, because they are usually around half as tall as men or elves. The 'halfling's leaf' is tobacco, which they call 'pipe weed' and have been cultivating for many generations creating different varieties.

    I was excited about this movie when I heard it was coming out because I remembered seeing an animated film adaption of the story when I was a kid. Both, The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings were made into animated movies in the 70s or 80s.
    My friend and I used to imitate that version of Gollum. The live-action versions have them beat, in my opinion.
    After that, our LotR phrase was "Hold out your hand... It's quite cool", or other variations followed by "It's quite coool".

    Aragorn is not 3000 years old! He is a descendent of isildur, but not his immediate heir. However he is older than you might think, due to being descended from the numenorians (a long lived race of men, although Numeror itself had long ceased to exist in the time that LOTR is set). There were also three ages of middle earth. Each age ended with a specific event. The first age ended with the defeat of the first dark Lord (Morgoth - you'll hear his name mentioned once or twice in the trilogy). Sauron was the chief servant of Morgoth). Second age, when the last alliance defeated sauron. After each age ended, the year count was reset to zero. Sauron's first defeat (when he had the ring cut from his finger) happened at the end of the second age (around year 3400 in second age). Then the third age began with year zero, and LOTR is set sometime after year 3000 third age.

    I prefer the longer versions myself, but I recommend the theater release for anyone who worries that they won't enjoy it. More of something you don't like isn't better. You can always check the extended version out later if you choose to, after all. However, there's a scene at the beginning of the third movie that absolutely should not have been cut. If you watch any of the extended cuts, let it be that one.

    2.The "Nazgul" can go in water, but thy don`t like it - they don´t like fire, either.
    3.The creatures with the "good masks" are orcs. The smaller, thinner ones are called goblins.
    4. The creature in Gandalf`s hand is a moth (a "butterfly" active in the night).
    5. The white wizard is called "Saruman" and the red eye is called "Sauron".

    Aragorn isn't 3000 years old too. "Isildur"s heir" is symbolic. There were several kings of Gondor after Isildur. But Isildur had the Ring so he's very important.
    it's kinda like how Napoleon was set up to be the 'heir of Charlemagne' When he conquered France and Germany; even though there were dozens of French kings and Holy roman emperors after Charlemagne. It's an important symbol.

    • @tileux
      @tileux 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Aragorn IS the legitimate, if distant, heir of Isildur - through 3,000 years of ancestors - bearing in mind that as a numenorian/dunedai Aragorn's people live for hundreds of years and so that 3,000 years is far shorter in generations than it would be if Aragorn was an ordinary man. That extended bloodline applies to all the people of Gondor and the people to the south of Gondor, all of whom gather at Minas Tirith for the battle of Pelinor Fields in the books. Its just that Isildur's bloodline lost power - due to its dalliance with the ring - and then spurned power. Aragorn was raised by Elrond.

    Basically if you think there's a similarity between Harry Potter and LOTR, it's Rowling copying off LOTR because LOTR was written decades before Potter.
    -- "Would anyone want to live that long." Mortality is called the "gift of men" because thye die nd go to spend eternity with Illuvatar, or The One, whereas elves live forever in a fading world.

      Another maybe boring story. In the extended version of FOTR Aragorn visits the grave of his mother Gilraen. Her epitaph in Elvish is "I give Hope to men. I keep none for myself." One of Aragorn's names, you'll find out is Elessar, elvish for hope. To save him she let him be raised in Rivendell by the elves. This comes out a littler bit in Return of the King.

      @@inbedwithmovies3228 FYI, the Arwen subplot barely appears in the book. It's in the appendices but Jackson made it a major part of the movie, I guess for the ladies. 😀
