After establishing a reputation for quality restorations of Land Cruisers, we wanted to push the limits, and design a 40-series Land Cruiser to meet the demands of modern driving, while honoring the timeless beauty of the original design.
We love the rugged features of the 40 Series. We love its simplicity. We love its utilitarian approach... but often times, we wanted a little more.
A classic Land Cruiser that could be used for a quick spin around town - or on a weekend trip to the beach - but given the opportunity, a vehicle that could be pushed hard…. on and off-road.
It’s a delicate balance between CLASSIC and MODERN.
This is why we created: "The FJ Company Sport"
The FJ Company Sport is an authentic Toyota Land Cruiser. An original chassis, an original steel body, but its powertrain has been fully upgraded with more modern features.
Possibly the most significant upgrade is the engine. The Sport model has a more modern Toyota fuel-injected engine, 6 cylinders, rated at 210 horsepower. It’s available as a 5-speed manual or automatic. It’s versatile for a quick spin around town or to cruise comfortably on the highway. Apart from the additional power for on and off-road conditions, it preserves the sound, the looks, and the reliability that you would expect from any Land Cruiser.
With the additional power and greater speeds of the Sport model, steering needed an upgrade. The Performance Steering System comes included in all Sport builds starting in 2017. It improves the responsiveness and accuracy of the stock power steering setup.
Inside, you’ll find thoughtful modern comforts: digital classic-looking controls, air conditioning, your choice of modern seats, sound system... Other options include seat heaters, interior LED lighting, and even a rear-view back-up camera system.
The exterior is your blank canvas. We custom build each Land Cruiser to meet the preferences of our clients. Color, hard top vs. soft top, bumpers, accessories, tire size... just about every aspect of your dream Land Cruiser can be customized. And you can see it all using our website.
And of course, there’s the option of doing the more traditional FJ40, or an FJ43 which has a slightly longer wheel base and additional cargo space.
Driving a custom Land Cruiser by The FJ Company is a truly unique experience. Most of our clients have theirs as a 2nd or even 3rd vehicle, but ask any of them which one they are looking forward to driving…. More than not, they want to get behind the wheel of their Land Cruiser from The FJ Company.

I own a 2008 FJ... I love it- I have always said that if someone would produce an original FJ, CJ, or early Bronco with modern drive train it would sell like hot cakes. The designers of today are too busy trying to reinvent the wheel. One look at Toyota's new FT4X and you realize they have lost their minds...

Watching this video brought back so many great memories of driving my 74 FJ40 w/ an inline 6 cylinder 3L Diesel all over the Highlands of PNG. It was unstoppable, having even forded flooding rivers with the water flowing over the bonnet and pulling a PMV out of the river that had gotten water in its engine. I was sad to let it go when I went finish.

The original ones had 6 cyl GM Chev engines, in Brazil 4cyl Diesels were Mercedes-Benz OM314.

In Venezuela people are building this for decades first upgrading to 3f engine later to 1fz-fe converting to coil spring front and rear , and know the new tendecy its swap 1gr-fe v6 engine mated to its 5 speed manual al everything from a modern car .

They actually got many cool trucks, like the double cab Hilux, the SJ 413 Suzuki samurai in normal or long wheelbase and soft top, the Chevrolet D20 pickup truck, the FJ70 series with soft top which I plan to import myself as soon as it's possible, since the BJ/FJ70 is by far my favorite Land cruiser variant, aka the Japanese G-wagon

When these came to South Africa 🇿🇦 in 1972/3, my uncle was first in Cape Town to buy one. It had the GM Chev 3.8l engine and 3spd manual gearbox. Later models had the GM Chev 4.1 engine. In Brazil, Toyota still build these as the Bandeirante, and fits it with the Mercedes-Benz Unimog OM314 engine of yesteryear. We had much adventure in the Cruiser, at the southern tip of Africa, which is at L'Agulhas where the family holiday homes were.
This company is doing a great job. Would love to build one from them God willing.

The 4 7l V8 actually sourced its engine from Yamaha.
Starting price of $90,000 is pretty steep. This is definitely a luxury item. Which really goes against its utilitarian design and original price point.
This is for the guys that dont get there hands dirty restoring it themselves. Definitely marketed towards the other half

i grew up overseas and been around these FJ's and is the reason why ive own them since i owned a yellow 2007 and currently own a white 2013....my dream would be to own an FJ40...i enjoyed jeeps mustangs mercedes...but they dont come close in class and adventure of this beautiful FJ...
I bought a brand new, red FJ40 in 1970 and had it for 26 years! After about 10 years I ended up putting a 350 Chevy small block in it with headers, a nice tricked-out 4 barrel carburetor, and various other performance goodies, etc., turning it into a 4WD screaming banshee!! Yep, I know ...I should have kept it!!

I have owned a Brazilian version of the FJ40, known as 'Bandeirante', for 27 years now. Since then, I upgraded literally everything, except for the chassis, bodywork and glass, making sure it looks original and stock. There is something special about this car, for it doesn't seem to age or tire out, and when I see a company like this overhauling them to perfection it makes complete sense to me. The price tag, not so much, but hey, if there are people out there buying them, why not?

I love the idea! But way too expensive. The website says prices start at $160,000. I can't understand why Toyota doesn't bring the FJ40 back into production.
Because this is for collection (functionality plus comfort) that's why this cost so.much, you could get a LC70 series or a wrangler for less than 60kUSD AND IT will work better this this
Amazing masterpiece! The new FJ Cruiser is a sissy version of the old one. Glad we have Nissan Patrol SWB hardtops (like my thumbnail) here with DOHC, VTC, 4.8L inline-6 engine (still manual "mechanical" throttle), 2 solid axles, rear diff-lock as a standard. With cool box, sunroof, winch, etc if you want more options (not plenty though). Great ground clearance and long shock travel. You can stick 35"+ muddies with no problems as it comes with 4.375 gear ratio for the 5-speed manual gear (3.535 for AT). This beast can take 1000+hp on stock diffs, gears, and many other factory parts like no other, just type: nissan patrol turbo.
By the way, the true FJ is still running here as well under the name of FJ70 or Land Cruiser 70 for the hardtop swb, along with the rest of its family. Comes with the same engine of the new FJ cruiser since 2009 (4.5L inline-6 before), 2 solid axles:

Very interesting because it displays a classic product with really new and original flavors. I really hope that it can be made in my country at a low cost. Because I have one Toyota Landcruiser FJ 40 old production in 1978 but less funds if the cost of it.

I once owned a 77 fj40. had to redesign the gas peddle to get heel on floor. redesign the seat mounting to get some leg room. take the shields off the instrument lamps. insulate the floor. lots and lots of fixing things mechanics messed up. Mine NEVER failed to get me there and back.

this is my dream! old classic look vehicles with modern efficient engine! to me, one of the biggest problem for old engines, beside availability of their spare part is they're consume a lot of gas. With this kind of build, I think it's interesting, but how much it cost?

Very beautiful! although expensive restoration. I owed an original FJ40 in the early 90ties in the Netherlands. Two questions came to my mind about this restoration; 1- Why no coil-spring conversion as is done with many older Jeeps? 2- Does it besides disk-brakes, also have ABS now? I know my original FJ40 has 4x drum-brakes...arghhh. That was tricky, very tricky when I first took ik to Switzerland.

Here in Indonesia, the FJ is one of a legend. Along with Suzuki Katana (SJ410) and series.. Anw, is there any workshop similar to FJ Company, but restore Suzuki Samurai (and series)?
