ifthey don't, if you are wondering why they're using melee weapon they used Seffle particles that extremely explosives and combustibles to force ground troops into melee battle
Not only the particles making everything explosive, but power armor in this is so dense that regular laser weapons are not effective. Have to get a giant blade and crush em
Why using swords knowing that the suit is bulky to move around let alone using a glaive while the armor look durable edit 2022: turns out the armor is made of storm trooper armor, good resistance against energy weapon but terrible at everything else, so swords and glaive is ok i guess.
Good question. Because in lore, a common tactic employed during CQB is to fill the area with a high explosive airborne particle called Seffle particles, which can be easily ignited, regardless in vacuum or not. If they use firearm, everyone will die. So they are using swords and crossbow instead.
A Better answer to what Apollo said would be that in the original series and the books the armour is too heavy to be pierced at all by the 'blasters' of the soldiers. The Blasters in question are particle beam weaponry. So the kinetic force of polearms and battleaxes, if hit in weakpoints in the armour, or just sheer adrenaline, can buckle the armour and thus pierce the person inside it. As for this series they've made power armour instead of just modernised Knight Armour. So I guess go to Gundam or similar for why you'd want to use blades and poles to try to break armour such as that.
@@Apollo-tj1vm Yea i get that, but why sword and glaive? shouldn't heavy weapon like an axes or mace be more effective? crossbow is a interesting counter but if it hit any vital subsystem via through the walls, floor or ceiling that could react to Seffle particle..

@@mmouse1886 meh, Seffle particle is still the better explanation.
In the books and the anime of the 80s they used axes.
