You got your wars mixed up. That was the Imperial Civil War between the Lippstadt League and Reinhard von Lohengramm, not the Castrop rebellion which only had one real battle between Maximillian Castrop and Admiral Kircheis

Reinhard didnt do anything wrong but, only monster is able to ignore such a thing. Especially a person like reinhard, he must be suffered greatly from it. Really like the show depicting 2 different ways of how MCs approach their own problem.

He didnt ignore it, oberstein twist reinhard orders of sending a fleet to prevent the bombardment, but instead, oberstein purposefully order the fleet arrived right after the bombardment except the probe ship , this causes no update directly to reinhard as he was hesitant as oberstein flawless reasoning of letting the settlement of Westerland burn to quickly end the civil war rather than stalling till the alliance is finally unified, and when reinhard knew of this, it's already too late, out of guilt,
he didnt blame oberstein but himself since he said " he will make the decision when the fleet arrived to Westerland . "

@@manikaditha6308 Well no, that's from the OVA, in DNT, reinhard first respond was to send a fleet lead by him to prevent the bombardment, but oberstein reasoning outweigh reinhard decision making him not to, while the last scene is just him just staring the stars full of question and maybe regret, which later bite him in the back when kircheis arrived.
but yeah, in the end he choose to ignore it..
