      You didn't mention how the individuals played in the playoffs. Maybe it was a different season, but i remember the knicks shot horribly from three. It was the year they lost to Paul George and the Pacers. Kidd missed every three he shot. JR and Felton were streaky. Love your vids, but this one was too stat focused, thought you would go beyond stats a describe game play. i do remember tyson chandler being open for dunks while melo was doubled,. Lebron found Bird man in the next series. Birdman made 24 straight FGs i believe to set a record. Love your vids! didnt watch this entire vid yet though.

    imo, Melo is the most overrated player ever. Compared with LeBron since day 1, some took a blind eye towards Wade in favor of Melo because of this cheap hype. Even when LeBron won MVP and Wade won a freaking ring, Melo was still up there in the "conversation" (how to define this conversation is something complicated on it's own, lol). Arrived in New York as a savior, ruins everything. Arrives in OKC as a offensive star, can't score even 12 pts at 37% shooting? C'mon, this guy is shameful. We had undimensional scorers before, English, Dominique, etc.. But they had some decency at least. Melo has nothing, the most overrated player ever. You add his outrageous salary on top of this ice cream of shit.. Hard to not consider him the most overrated.

    • @ananthshreya

      Honestly, the Wade vs LeBron argument would have been far better in the 2010s. Like I mean Wade had a championship and was robbed of the MVP in '09 while LeBron was an incredible player who had a bad team. Over all his years in the League, what has Carmello accomplished?

    over 50% of his shot was iso, among them almost every shot is jump shot instead of driving to the basket.
    so when the ball is in his hand, the game becomes his own game, no matter how good he is, he just can't bring his teammates in, even Lebron has a simple system to make assist, but melo doesn't.

    The Thunder comparison was decent but the Knicks one OMG no. Tyson as a All-Star and DPOY came from being a Knick. Kidd ppg was similar but minutes played and thus time to playmake wasn't there. MOST IMPORTANTLY that was a team, an era, when a third of the roster income was shelved by Amare injury. He's remember so fondly because of Nash and Marion but Melo out there just gets shafted.
    I'll give Melo was always billed wrong. He's always compared to wings who are more guard their frontcourt player. He was always a finisher. He finishes plays. That's why Billups and Kidd/Felton worked well. Asking him or letting him play LeBron was always going to end badly.

Pace, space, and Melo's shot making fueled that team yet you leave out that without other players around him actually contributing: JR averaging 13 points on 29%, Felton 11/3/4 on 41%, Shump 10 on 38%, Chandler just 6 and 6, Amar'e with 4 points on 38%... meanwhile Melo averaged 28/8 with 43/35/87 splits... including 39 on 52% shooting in Game 6 where only Iman Shumpert was effective besides him... but noooooooo, Melo brought the team down... You're a hater

Game winning layup opportunity missed by Courtney Lee in Game 2, Game 4 Jameer Nelson's whack defense on Fisher leading to the 3s on a night when Dwight put up a monster defensive performance (like 9 blocks I guess). Some good arguments, but you really can't compare teams with similar type players to each other because you have to look at who they're competing against. In 2009 Carmelo's team lost to the eventual champion Lakers, in 2013 they lost to a Pacer team that took LeBron's Heat to 7 games etc. For example, with Allen Iverson, the year he made it to the finals in 2001 was probably one of the worst years in the history of the eastern conference. I'm just saying that every year is different and you have to take that into account.

    Carmelo was certainly a flawed player and I don't know anyone who is arguing that he is better than Durant, Harden, Curry, Lebron, or Kobe, but there's a lot disingenuous BS in this video. Comparing the 08 Nuggets roster to the 2012 Thunder's is laughable. The 01 Sixers made it through the worst Eastern Conference ever. While Chauncey was great for the Nuggets, Dahntay Jones drew the defensive responsibility on Chris Paul in the playoffs. And Melo was incredible in the Dallas series, which the Nuggs won in 5 games. And you point to Chauncey dominating an ancient Jason Kidd, but Kidd's shooting numbers were incredible in that series. You also blame Carmelo for Kenyon Martin's decline, but Martin had serious injuries to both his knees after joining the Nuggets. Also, his decreased scoring was related to his role on the Nuggets compared to the Nets. I think there's a very good case that Melo's career was better than Bernard King's. But yeah, Melo doesn't compare to the all-time greats, and there are other small forwards like Paul Pierce that you didn't even list that surpass him, you just don't have to stack the deck to pile on your case like you did.

    Aguirre figures it out once he became a Piston, adopted the team first mentality at the cost of his own stats but Anthony never did.
    That said, Anthony IS the all-time leader in scoring in Olympic history on 3 gold medal winning teams, which in itself is a nice legacy.

    This is the most ridiculous statement I've ever read. Melo has been on a building team every year except for 2 seasons. One of those was a WCF appearance and the other was a 2nd seed in the east. Furthermore Carmelo is an extremely underrated perimeter defender. Sure, sometimes he is lazy off ball defense, but he gets a bad rap because he wasn't a good defender in his early years. They should have done better in 2008 but Iverson and Melo's games weren't compatible like Durant and Westbrook. Iverson and Melo both need the ball to score whereas Durant and Westbrook are better athletically so they can score off ball. Now in NY carmelo is being punished because Phil traded Jr, Shumpert, Hardaway and signed a declining Amare Stodamire.
    I'd go as far as to say Carmelo is one of the most underrated players of all time because of the sheer disrespect he recieves all the time.

    Im a big ass Melo fan, but the main reason he isn't as good as other scorers like KD, Kobe, Tmac is because he was never that athletic. He's so inefficient because he relied on his jumper too much. If you watch Melo from the triple threat, its very rare that he drives to the hole and when he does, he's simply not athletic enough to fight thru contact like a prime T Mac could. His reliance on his jumper makes him slightly one-dimensional.
    Yes, he didn't have all the help in the world but he was never the type of player who could take over every aspect of the game, which explains his low PER. As much as I love Melo, you can't help but notice these negative points in his game. If only he kept himself in good shape and focused on becoming more of a slasher as well as a jump shooter, he would have been more efficient and definitely harder to guard.

      JJ Gaming - Jack James he hurt his knee a few years ago and that stopped the beautiful pivot work he came in the league with. Also, he hasn't been able to elevate on finishes over defenses for about 4 or 5 seasons.

      JJ Gaming you can say the same for derrick rose relied too much on his athleticism and didn’t balance it with jump shooting also add that he played through injuries

    This video is stupid, it tells how carmelo anthonys team does good until the playoffs, but if you actually watched these series you would see that everyone on melos team would crumble under pressure besides him and they would lose its not his fault his teamates cant handle the playoffs

      @cutepool3393 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      which is kinda the point. you say someone is on the level of so and so (in this case, all time greats) and i show you how that person is not, how so and so are completely better, then wouldnt you say that you were over rating that person

    • @munted_1644
      @munted_1644 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cutepool you won’t really find many people that compare Melos career to Kobe, Lebron, KD ect. Only naive die hard Melo fans might. Most people who don’t hate Melo will say that he is a tier or 2 bellow those players. And that’s what his stats say.

    • @cutepool3393
      @cutepool3393 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      understandable, no one is comparing them. at least i'm not, but compared to the top 15 SF's that BBall Exp listed, melo comes very short of them, which is a way to show overratedness. give context to his stats basically

    • @munted_1644
      @munted_1644 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cutepool true. But you can’t take lists like that seriously sometimes. ESPNs top players of all time listed Robert Covington above Melo... so yeah

    When you consider how little of a willing passer Carmelo Anthony was compared to the other top scorers mentioned it isn’t that surprising that he was less efficient.
    I would say there are more overrated players than he though, as he has never been thought of as a defender, passer, rebounder etc. just a scorer and only really an iso one at that.
    I would say a better comparison would be Joe Johnson, to whom despite injuries Carmelo was better individually, but I would probably prefer Joe on my team given the option.
