I have been watching video tributes for him since his passing. Everything he has ever worked on, I loved dearly. He was my biggest inspiration and my biggest hero in art and storytelling. I will never forget him and I watch these videos as I work/practice, hoping some of his magic will rub off on me. Thank you for this video. And thank you Akira Toriyama... RIP.
Blessed we are to have lived in a timeline where Akira Toriyama became a manga-ka and illustrated for the Dragon Quest series. A big thanks to Torishima and his wife for believing in him and inspiring him when he needed it. Rest well Toriyama sensei. His passion and dedication to his work and fans will live on forever.
"If he had won the contest, he likely would've juat taken the money and quit" That actually sounds remarkedly similar to the philosophy Master Roshi tries to instill in Goku and Krillin during the first tournament arc. I guess Toriyama drew from real life for that plot thread.
Have to say: what pained me is that I have the feeling too many people, especially DBZ fanboys, that never really cared for what Akira Toriyama actually has been: a comedian. You could clearly see it with his initial works, especially with Dr. Slump & Arale where he really went full creative about it. Sure, also the original Dragon Ball at the beginning had light-hearted moments for most part (let's say until the King Piccolo arc), but I rarely saw people actually being considerate over his visions and what kind of creator/author actually was. Not everyone ofc since I saw emotional tributes to commemorate his death, but man. I know after Dragon Ball his next works weren't masterpieces but not bad works either (Cowa was cute, Kajika and Sand were average but enjoyable), but really surprises me that Nekomajin never got his spot while Jaco was directly canonized with Dragon Ball Super. He still managed to keep with the DQ art more as supervisor lately but while still being there to the every end, from what I've understood.
beautiful video on one of the greatest artists, illustrator, designer, story tellers of all time. Toriyama was and always will be an inspiration, a multi-generational talent, more than a genius… a hard worker with an inventive mind. goku and arale are mascots with memorable designs but Toriyama imbued them with a selfless charm, an innocent and curious nature. More than icons they were role models and they represent the heart and power of Toriyama’s work.
The shy bird became a mighty dragon who created many wonderful stories and beautiful artwork, and now that dragon has left us, but his stories live on, and they must be preserved for posterity, and anyone who reads them along into the future should be informed of the bird who became a dragon and created such beautiful stories😢
Thank you for this video, like many others, Toriyama-sensei was a huge influence on my life. His is the only celebrity death that I truly feel sad about, and I'm comforted by the fact that he touched so many people in such positive ways🥲
What a great video. Just want you to know sackchief, you do a great job making videos and very informative videos about great people like akira toriyama. RIP. But just know you are one of the people i think of when i play through a dragon quest game, you make a great impact. Great video. Keep it up man, I love you're channel.
The art style of Dragon Quest and Dragon Ball may be different without Toriyama, but the impact he had was absolutely legendary regardless. I hope that whoever inevitably takes over for him does his iconic art justice
Wtf? Dragon Ball wouldn't even exist without Toriyama, it's literally his own original work. Kinda nonsensical to say. Dragon Quest is a full-fledged long-term series done by professional teams with Toriyama adding so much personality thanks to his art.
@@raidomegnuo2868 Dragon Ball's art can be replicated, but Toriyama's writing and character work is pretty much irreplaceable. DB is more than just its drawings after all
awesome vid! where did you find such a high quality scan of the illustration at 24:08? i want to buy a poster or get one printed, I've been searching for hours please help!

@@sackchief aah~! He’s talented! I’ll check him out for sure! 😊✨
Wow he had a beautiful relationship with his wife. Such a kind, hardworking couple.
Toriyama’s death is so painful… I wasn’t ready for this yet.
Toriyama’s square shape kids always crack me up. Rest easy Toriyama San!
I live in Denmark and even my mom talked about his passing. It's crazy just how many his works have reached.
Such an incredible artist

Akira toriyama will always be a legend and always will be. RIP Akira Toriyama.
I could never forget this man. rest in peace Akira Toriyama
A lot of Toriyama's life story sounds really relatable. Never will forget the worlds and art he made for us.
Wow. Theres things here i didnt even hear from kanzenshuu. Good job
The amount of effort put in. No wonder it took so long.
Sackchief may be the greatest TH-camr to come not only did he make a tribute to the legends we lost but also tells the full story
It still hurts but seeing all these tributes and love about this work that bring us all together is pure joy. Rest in peace, Akira Toriyama.
Thank for making this well researched video, it's hard to find videos about Toriyama where people know what they're talking about.

Very well done video. RIP Toriyama-san.
From his early days I feel like I can absolutely relate to.
Both your Sugiyama and Toriyama tribute videos are masterpieces; exceedingly well-researched!

First Berserk then Tokyo Mew Mew and then Dragon Ball series.
We have lost many legends of Manga in the past few years.
What the hell is tokyo mew mew?
Let's not forget Yu-Gi-Oh! 😢
Hi there Sack, I was wondering, where did you get the footage for that Dr Slump play at 9:34?
It’s from a news memorandum by Fuji TV from a few weeks back
