5:14 the original godzilla movies, all the way up to just before the new american ones (and a bit of shin godzilla) were suitmation films, in which an actor would be inside a big rubber suit. Over the years, the godzilla suit began to deteriorate, even at one point losing the tip of the tail on screen.
As we pretty clearly see here in the video, it’s not the same suit in every movie. They made a new suit almost every time. Sometimes repurposing an older suit or modifying one if the design didn’t change that much between films, but often just making a totally new suit from scratch every time.
Godzilla movies in old days didn’t have a thought out direction. They just followed pop culture trends. Aliens popped up multiple times because the mid to late 60’s was the space race between the US and Soviet Union. So space was very popular. That was also around the time of the original Star Trek series
That was in the showa era and godzilla is a character who adapts to different time periods, he still does to this day. Shin gojira was obviously inspired by the Fukushima nuclear disaster for example.
7:38 he was discovered in a egg. Just like manilla from son of godzilla. That implies that there were other godzilla's but their long gone by the time the eggs were discovered
The Skull Island Series On Netflix is connected to the Monsterverse and has Kong, and they have the Godzilla anime trilogy on Netflix as well as Godzilla Singular Point if you’re interested!
All of Godzilla's sons just appeared in eggs found on deserted islands, minus Minilla in Final Wars who just appears out of nowhere in a forest. He adopted and raised them.
Been a lil since I’ve been recommended your vids, btw fun fact, basically all Godzilla movies till recent years used costumes for the kaiju not cgi, so there are many suits worn by actors in the old movies
Interesting video to react to! There's obviously a lot of context missing for most of those movies, and the Godzilla franchise can be a bit tough to get into since there's so many different continuities. I say start with the original 1954 film "Gojira" and then go from there, since most of the timelines acknowledge the original in their continuity (although more recently they've been abandoning this). There's three distinct timelines before the modern era: Showa Era: 1954-1975 with 15 films total, and a focus on steadily sillier ideas and more wild monster characters. This is where a lot of the classic staples of the franchise are established. Heisei Era: 1984-1995 with 7 films total. This might be the ideal era since the storyline is more interconnected than some of the others, but I'm definitely biased. Millenium Era: 1999-2004 with 6 films total. The continuity between movies is essentially nonexistent, so you could basically watch any of these at any time and not be hampered by knowing other context. The only movies with a shared universe are the two Mechagodzilla movies in this period. I get that's a lot of info to take in lol. Do what you will with all this stuff. Either way, I'd love to see more Godzilla film reactions on your channel. The older stuff is mostly ignored on TH-cam.
Don if you need a little recap of every Godzilla film at least until 2014 DEFINITELY recommend watching cinemassacre's Godzillathon. Not only would it be hilarious to see the ridiculousness journey ma boi goji has been through but I'd get to re experience Godzillathon again which will definitely give me a nostalga trip 😁
Goji center only covers the monsterverse and hardly anything else, at times their info not even being accurate so goji center is definitely not a good source to watch. Wikizilla is much better
11:38 I dont appreciate how tell it animated drew final wars goji. The drawing absolutely doesnt do the real suit justice. Final wars has the best godzilla design that is a suit imo. And that godzilla is an absolute powerhouse, rivaling monsterverses evolved goji in pure strength and stamina
@@megatron-G i know, it just feels a little disrespectful This is why I dont like america, they take something already existing in other countries and cultures Including my homecountry like Japan, and the citizens think it is something original to America I wouldnt be surprised if this guy thinks ramen and katsudon is American
Don, you should watch SlicK’s Godzilla battle royale on TH-cam it would be an amazing reaction video and shows literally every Godzilla from the movies, shows, and books.
U should react to the man in the suit because it will show u things about godzilla but it's analog horror so there was a actor in the godzilla suit in the old movie 😅
If you can, please watch the original Godzilla movie (Gojira 1954) on the channel. It's the first yet one of the most important and dark films in the franchise.

That 'slug' was Mothra's larva form, she always starts out like this before undergoing metamorphosis, like her children.
