You may think Kong actually had a chance, but in reality, Godzilla was actually Toying with Kong up until Kong hit Goji in the head with the axe.
Godzilla turned around because, after the clash, his eyes were damaged like he was blinded by a flash bang, kong figured this out, because of how Godzilla was moving and knew that Godzilla was using sound to know where kong was.
Godzilla turned his back to look at the crane because he was temporarily blind

btw Kong actually died after Godzilla stomped on his chest and walked away leaving him to die, but then he gets revived so yea. He died and got the totem of undying.
